L. T. Ariyawathi, a 49 year old maid from Sri Lanka who worked in Saudi Arabia, had 24 nails and a needle inserted into her body by her employer- a Saudi couple. This kind of torture is indicative of a psychologically sick people who deserve legal punishments since they knew what they were doing.
People of many nationalities work in Saudi Arabia and other oil-rich gulf states to imrove the living conditions of their own families in their own countries. However, the legal systems in those primitive Islamic states, allow those workers to be exploited and abused by Saudi nationals as well as other Gulf states nationals. Those states recognize the Islamic laws as the basis of their legal system, a matter that gurantees injustices and inequalities amongst the different people living in those states.

As usual, taking an unfortunate isolated incident and blow it out of proportion. I am sure those couple who did this will be punished. This type of behavior is unacceptable and was never endorsed by the teachings of Islam.
Unfortunate incidents like these happen all over the world. Here in the USA, people commit many atrocities, yet we don't blame their religion for it. We simply considered it an isolated incident.
OK Islamdevotee, fair enough. Show me one incident such as the above abusing their maid or nanny by putting 24 nails inside her body here in the USA. Better yet just show me any incident abusing their maid or Nanny here in the US by putting just one nail in her body.

Islamdevotee, this is by no means an isolated incident. This happens more often than not and it is a typical albeit extreme case.
People get abused everyday in these countries, I have personally seen this happen in the middle east. Especially for workers who are not muslems. And yes this is a result of the lack of respect and consideration that Islam shows to people of other faiths. Even Mohammed abused people of other faiths, read your history and see for yourself. That is if you are interested in the truth. This however is not limited to workers of other faiths I have seen muslims abused also.
This is one that got publicised, 99.99% of abuse cases never see the light of day. They range from not paying wages to workers to extreme physical abuse causing death in certain cases. I have personally seen first hand cases of abuse.
Embassies of coutries such as India and Singapore have setup safehouses for abused workers in these countries. Do the research yourself, again if you are interested in being fair.

The incident is testimony to the devilish nature of the followers of Islam in Saudi Arabia.There is no punishment for the perpetrator.The maid escaped from the country since she cannot expect justice there.

it was happen all the time in saudi not only to non muslim,and it is not an isolated incident as a guest worker before in k.s.a i myself experience many abused from saudis, they feel superior to other races. read arab news and you know the flight of many expat workers. saudi prison and deportation center are full of inmates and subject to daily harassment and abuse. after some months of reading many articles here and searching for truth. yesterday i read the story of that sri lankan maid in arab news and i feel disgusted to my religion, now i made up my mind i will left islam for good.
