Not long after 9/11, pundits and politicians, along with Muslim apologists and their useful idiots on the left, all got down to the business of informing us that when 3,000 Americans were killed in a hellish conflagration, it wasn't because of Islam. Alternative causes offered were: our close relationship with Israel ; our complicity in oppressing Muslims elsewhere; the disembodied nameless (except for "terrorists") evil theory; and some really stupid conspiracy theories involving the CIA and/or Mossad. The panicked response from the media and politicos, I could deal with. But the far left and their new Islamic buddies are really a wonder to behold. They've executed some mighty impressive mental gymnastics to shift culpability from the ideology which justifies this craven mass murder--and the ideologues who did it--onto the victims. But in the end, everyone avoided the truth. The truth was too unbelievable.

We've been told ever since that awful day that terror isn't Islamic. That the Qur'an and the sunnah do not provide sanction for acts of terror (and it seems that most of us haven't even bothered to do any fact-checking on that critical claim). The eloquent and sneering apologists appeared in their white flowing robes, form letter in hand, for news interviews. They serenely told us that their tolerant faith had been "hijacked" by extremists. Even President Bush assured the nation that Islam is a religion of peace. Everyone wanted to believe this rubbish! Jetliners had been slammed into the World Trade Center 's monolithic towers, the Pentagon, and a field in rural Pennsylvania killing thousands, and Muslims were seen celebrating from Manhattan to Gaza City . Americans were ready to buy into the lie that Islam is a religion of peace, and that these were just some generic terrorists who were slaves to that snappy evil rhythm. Or worse, they were willing to consider that flawed American foreign policy made extremists in Muslim lands act out this way (kind of how enraged Tibetan Buddhists terrorize China).

Israel is not the reason we were hit on that terrible day. Israel isn't even the reason that Israel is hit on all of its terrible days by cowardly Islamic terrorists. Nor is America the reason we were murdered by the thousands in America 's City. And if we are to be honest and just, we cannot lay the blame anywhere except for on the horrible people who steal the lives of innocents in God's name. We didn't suffer the worst assault ever on American soil because evil men had nothing better to fill their evil schedule with. We were attacked that day because we are the vanguard of freedom in this world, and we stand squarely in the path of Islam's centuries long jihad on the road to Khilafah (worldwide Muslim domination). This is holy war. Not to us, but to them.

Even today, after three years of sharp media and governmental focus on Islam and all that is done in its name around the world, the taqiyya (dissimulation, dishonesty for the religion) mill is still grinding out the lies. And people still believe it. It's because a tiny fraction of Muslims have exploited the peaceful teachings of Islam for their evil designs. Or it's because we side with the Zionist oppressors in Israel . No, it's because we have declared war on Islam (just ask Milosevic). It's because of this, and it's because of that. We are hated by Muslims worldwide for any other reason than the intolerant, supremacist dogma of their unreformed seventh century death cult which teaches and glorifies this hate. And if you dare to criticize it, then you will be labeled as a hateful bigot. Just watch your loved ones die, and shut up.

Are we to believe that before the existence of modern Israel , or America , Muslims lived in placid harmony with their various neighbors throughout history? Because that simply isn't true. Directly after Muhammad's death, the Khalifah (successor to Muhammad as leader of the Muslim community) Abu Bakr invaded Syria . Then came the complete devastation of the area between Gaza and Caesarea . In Jerusalem , the churches were burned to the ground (and the Temple Mount was stolen from the Jews). Thousands of peasants were massacred for trying to defend their land. The same happened in Mesopotamia . Again later in India , in Egypt , Algeria , and Persia . Islam has always been expansionist, bellicose, and xenophobic. It has always been spread by the sword, and through rapine. And with the rapid succession of astonishing victories over all the infidels they encountered, Muslims had every cause to view the religion that had fueled this unstoppable jihad as supreme. Worldly events confirmed the divine word of the Qur'an, which consigned all infidels to a position of contemptible inferiority.

Let's take a look at the Qur'an, the hadith, and Muhammad's sacralized biography (Sirat Rasul Allah, by Ibn Ishaq) which were recorded more than a millennium before America and the modern state of Israel were formed:  

• Allah's Apostle said, "I have been sent with the shortest expressions bearing the widest meanings, and I have been made victorious with terror, and while I was sleeping, the keys of the treasures of the world were brought to me and put in my hand." -Bukhari Vol 4, Bk 52, No 220
• A Book revealed unto thee,- So let thy heart be oppressed no more by any difficulty on that account,- that with it thou mightest warn the infidels and teach the Believers. Follow (O men!) the revelation given unto you from your Lord, and follow not, as friends or protectors, other than Him. Little it is ye remember of admonition. How many a township have We destroyed! As a raid by night, or while they slept at noon, Our terror came unto them. No plea had they, when Our terror came unto them, save that they said: Lo! We were wrong-doers. -Qur'an 7:2-5
• “Allah said, ‘No Prophet before Muhammad took booty from his enemy nor prisoners for ransom.’ Muhammad said, ‘I was made victorious with terror. The earth was made a place for me to clean. I was given the most powerful words. Booty was made lawful for me. I was given the power to intercede. These five privileges were awarded to no prophet before me.’” “Allah said, ‘A prophet must slaughter before collecting captives. A slaughtered enemy is driven from the land. Muhammad, you craved the desires of this world, its goods and the ransom captives would bring. But Allah desires killing them to manifest the religion.’” -Ishaq 326-327
• Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will terrorize the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them." That is because they opposed Allah and His messenger. Whoso opposeth Allah and His messenger, (for him) lo! Allah is severe in punishment. -Qur'an 8:12-13
• “Khaybar was stormed by the Apostle’s squadron, fully armed, powerful and strong. It brought certain humiliation with Muslim men in its midst. We attacked and they met their doom. Muhammad conquered the Jews in fighting that day as they opened their eyes to our dust.” Ishaq 517
• The Prophet offered the Fajr Prayer near Khaibar when it was still dark and then said, "Allahu-Akbar! Khaibar is destroyed, for whenever we approach a (hostile) nation (to fight), then evil will be the morning for those who have been warned." Then the inhabitants of Khaibar came out running on the roads. The Prophet had their men killed, their women and children taken as captives. Safiya was amongst the captives. She first came in the share of Dahya Alkali but later on she belonged to the Prophet -Bukhari Vol 5, Bk 59, No 512
• “After the Messenger had finished with the Khaybar Jews, Allah cast terror into the hearts of the Jews in Fadak when they received news of what Allah had brought upon Khaybar. Fadak became the exclusive property of Allah’s Messenger.” -Tabari 8:129
• - Allah drove the Jews from their homes and cast terror into their hearts. (So that) some ye slew, and some ye made prisoners. And He made you heirs of their lands, their houses, and their goods, and of a land which ye had not frequented (before). And Allah has power over all things. -Qur'an 33:26-27

He it is Who drove the Jews from their homes and into exile. They refused to believe, while they were certain that their fortresses would defend them against Allah; but Allah came to them whence they did not expect, and cast terror into their hearts; they demolished their houses with their own hands and the hands of the believers; therefore take a lesson, O you who have eyes! -Qur'an 59:2  

It becomes quite preposterous to assert that Islam has nothing to do with Islamic terror. These are the books that are holy to Muslims--the Qur'an is literally interpreted to be God's own, uncreated word. These books provide the basis for Islamic shari'ah law. They constitute the fundamental bulwark against reason, progress, freedom, and compassion for each Muslim. Worst of all, they contain ample divine rationale for the murder and conquest of those who refuse to accept Islam's supremacy.

And beyond the books, actions speak with the utmost clarity. In 22 major armed conflicts in the world today, Muslims are fighting for their God-given right to subjugate the kuffar (infidels) and to make Islam and God's law supreme across the planet. Obviously Islam has something to do with taking up arms and killing unbelievers.

The Islamic terror of jihad is not about Israel , or the oil-consumption of the West, or poverty, or the cost of a double espresso at Starbuck's in Riyadh . It's about a consummate sense of entitlement which is absolutely unyielding in its certitude. And it's about a righteous, murderous rage from God toward those who deny that entitlement. The hate for the infidel is central to Islam. It's hard for us to fathom because, while we may fall prey to our own prejudices, we don't wield them as holy mandates for murder. We've been an inclusive, free, pluralistic society for quite some time now--we tolerate difference. For Islam, unbelief is anathema, and those who refuse to abandon it after being invited to Islam are worthy of death.

Regrettably, far too many of us are ready to believe whatever satisfies our tender Western sensibilities, which means that the isolated incidents of extremism in Islam's name will continue to be churned out, night and day. Daniel Pearls will continue to have their heads chopped off for being American Jews; Theo Van Goghs will continue to be murdered in the streets of their neighborhoods for insulting Islam; Israeli kids will continue to be blown to bloody shreds because their parents returned to their homeland; and the mass murder... that will continue too. All over the world, unbelievers will continue to be murdered in droves. Isolated incident, after isolated incident, after isolated incident. It's never going to stop until we call Islam the hateful totalitarianism it is, and confront it as the existential threat that it is.

When you're on a mission from God, you don't believe that anything can stop you until someone gets in your path and shows you that you're wrong.
