And
this barely scratches the surface. Jefferson and Madison might not have
experienced Nazism but they were well aware of the havoc unrestrained religious
zealotry could wreak on society—hence their insistence on a separation of
Church and State.
The
Islamic Center of Southern California (ICSC) helped New Horizons develop its
curriculum. Imam Muzammil Siddiqui, ICSC’s top gun and an occasional guest at
White House prayer breakfasts, supported the PLO in its war against
Israel
. He has occasionally threatened
America
. At a rally a few years ago he let his anger get the best of him. “American
has to learn,” he railed, “Because if you remain on the side of injustice,
the wrath of God will come…Please! Please all Americans, do you remember that,
that Allah is watching everyone. If you continue doing injustice, and tolerating
injustice, the wrath of God will come.”
New
Horizons is also associated with the Board of Islamic and Arabic Education (BIAE).
It was the BIAE that actually created the New Horizon curriculum. Ameenah Bilal
Phillips, an un-indicted co-conspirator in the 1993 bombing of the
World
Trade
Center
, is a member of BIAE’s textbook editorial staff. Phillips is not surpassed in
promoting religious fundamentalism. In a recent
Toronto
interview he tried to explain Shari’a Law to the un-enthralled, “The
cutting of hands and heads, stoning of people to death, and lashings are only to
be held on Friday,” he said. That makes Islam superior to Christianity.
America
, willy-nilly executes people on any day of the week. One of the key factors in
Saudi Barbaria’s low murder-rate, explained Phillips were its public
executions.
Tis’
a mystery why the US Department of Education would award a prize to a school
whose ultimate aim is to replace the US Constitution with Islamic Law. Tis’ a
mystery wrapped in a suicide bomber’s belt—a riddle tucked inside a dirty
bomb; an enigma shrouded in the mists of Islamic Jihad. Winston Churchill
wouldn’t touch this one.
New
Horizons? Are they sure it’s New Horizons? Nothing has changed in 1,400 years
and they call it New Horizons? Why not Lost Horizons? That would be more like
it. Say, wasn’t that the name of a movie? Yes, it was. It
was 1937 and the High Lama said, “Look at the world today. Is there anything
more pitiful? What madness there is! What blindness! What unintelligent
leadership! A scurrying mass of bewildered humanity, crashing headlong against
each other, propelled by an orgy of greed and brutality!”
Okay,
that accounts for Ken Lay and Osama bin Laden and Islam in general but it
doesn’t explain the Department of Education’s continuing stupidity.
