we have the so called 'honor killings' here in India too… in the name of caste. Some people keep caste above everythign that they kill their children if they marry against their wishes. This ia a minority though;

I will never live in a country with my family if I hated their culture. Why would I take my family to a muslim country if, as a christian, I will never permit any of the host's culture? Muslims who live in the west and still think that their families will not be impacted in whatever form are idiots of the first degree. Islam, a religion of peace that hacks its victims to death while shouting "God is Great',is full of absurdities. In Islam wrong is right and vice versa. Prophet(not a gifted prophet) told muslims not show or allow their human sympathy to interfere with Allah's command. This is the tactics he used to wipe out the milk of human kindness inherent all muslims. If Allah says behead an apostate, do not allow your personal sympathy to interfere with this command…….. and there goes the head of a potential genius being hacked off his shoulders.
Dear Muslim and Muslimahs, is it really an honor to your Allah or your clan to murder or kill your own flesh and blood because of the 'shame' that he or her has brought to your Allah, or your clan? Is face really more important than a life? If animals knew how to love, care and protect their young from every harm and danger, don't you think that higher mammals like you ought to think and behave better than a beast?
In China, the Chinese media has reported on an extraordinary account of a mother bear saving her cub from a life of torture by strangling it and then killing itself. The bears were kept in a farm located in a remote area in the North-West of China. The bears on the farm had their gall bladders milked daily for 'bear bile,' which is used as a remedy in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It was reported that the bears are kept in tiny cages known as 'crush cages', as the bears have no room to manoeuvre and are literally crushed. The bile is harvested by making a permanent hole or fistula in the bears' abdomen and gall bladder. As the hole is never closed, the animals are suspect to various infections and diseases including tumours, cancers and death from peritonitis.
The bears are fitted with an iron vest, as they often try to kill themselves by hitting their stomach as they are unable to bear the pain. A person who was on the farm in place of a friend witnessed the procedures and told Reminbao.com that they were inhumane. The witness also claimed that a mother bear broke out its cage when it heard its cub howl in fear before a worker punctured its stomach to milk the bile. The workers ran away in fear when they saw the mother bear rushing to its cub's side. Unable to free the cub from its restraints, the mother hugged the cub and eventually strangled it. It then dropped the cub and ran head-first into a wall, killing itself.
I encouraged all Muslim parents who are contemplating to torment or murder or kill their own flesh and blood, to learn from this mother bear, a lower mammal, of what love and sacrifice is all about.
In nature, almost without exception, you will see mothers protect their offspring at all costs – even going so far as to sacrifice themselves to protect their young.

"…If anyone kills a person – unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land – it would be as if he killed all people. And if anyone saves a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all people" (Qur'an 5:32).
Life is sacred, according to Islam and most other world faiths. But how can one hold life sacred, yet still support capital punishment? The Qur'an answers, "…Take not life, which God has made sacred, except by way of justice and law. Thus does He command you, so that you may learn wisdom" (6:151).
The key point is that one may take life only "by way of justice and law." In Islam, therefore, the death penalty can be applied by a court as punishment for the most serious of crimes. Ultimately, one's eternal punishment is in God's hands, but there is a place for punishment in this life as well. The spirit of the Islamic penal code is to save lives, promote justice, and prevent corruption and tyranny.
Islamic philosophy holds that a harsh punishment serves as a deterrent to serious crimes that harm individual victims, or threaten to destabilize the foundation of society. According to Islamic law (in the first verse quoted above), the following two crimes can be punishable by death:
Intentional murder
Fasad fil-ardh ("spreading mischief in the land")
Intentional Murder
The Qur'an legislates the death penalty for murder, although forgiveness and compassion are strongly encouraged. The murder victim's family is given a choice to either insist on the death penalty, or to pardon the perpetrator and accept monetary compensation for their loss (2:178).
