Hinduism and Buddhism share the same value system. Their Dharma is 100% identical. Buddhism rejects the idea of a God as far as my knowledge goes. Hindu's cannot hope to attain liberation or spiritiual enlightenment, irrespective of the amount of time we spend in prayers, without following the Dharma of Buddha.
Read the Bhagwad Gita by Isckon Guru and Satyarth Prakash by Swami Dayanand Saraswati to get an idea of how an Hindu should conduct himself.

Hinduism is a Vendanta philosophy that allows any beliefs… There are Hindus who believe Gautama Buddha was the 9th Avatar of Vishnu (out of 10th) … The Arya Samaj would argue that Hindu Vedanta incorporated due to Jain traditions incorporated imagery / idols and became the evolved religion …. Hinduism by its very nature allows any tradition or belief …. It’s allows eclecticism, teaches universalism and it’s framework allows evolution in terms of thought, interpretation and philsophy …. There are Hindus who would acknowledge Jesus as an avatar of God too.

I respect hindus for reinterpreting their scriptures.I'm an agnostic christian & my sect has also severly edited the Gospel & completly rejected the Old Testament,that includes the Christian deist sect & Neo-Testamentarians (new testament church only).

Buddhism rejects some ritual aspects , probably . But the value system is same= peace,nonviolence,tolerance,kindness and compassion to all including to all creation, self realization, karma, liberation (moksha/nirvana) soul, reincarnation etc. Jainism and buddhism are – one can say , branches or offshoots of HINDU DHARMA .

Vedanta is “self-knowledge” … The goal of Vedanta is to help the seeker discover the self which is one in essence with all of existence. Whatever path gets you to self realization is acceptable hence Hindus teach that all paths up the mountain are acceptable ….
The Arya Samaj argue that Hindus adopted idol worship from Jains And that this was wrong according to this modern day Protestant group… What the Arya Samaj don’t realize is that Vedic philosophy inherently allows the adoption of any tradition or ritual to help the seeker reach the destination of focusing on self realization. Hinduism adopting idols from influence of the Jains is acceptable due to the eclectic and universal approach of the dharma. What the Arya Samaj have correct is that Vedic dharma does not require idol worship or Jain rituals.
Sai Baba of Shirdi (the real Sai Baba, not the fake miracle con artist), Sri Ramakrishan, Gandhi, and Guru Nanak all practiced multiple religions, including Christianity and Islam. If you read their stories you will see that they prayed to images of Jesus, they prayed with Muslims and Guru Nanak even went to Mecca for pilgrimage.
Krishna and Buddha had to deal with demons in their respective stories, but nevertheless Hindus regard Gautama Buddha who came way after the Upanishads and Vedas, as the 9th avatar of Vishnu.
