This so-called “right” is considered heretical and often constitutes a capital crime among Hindus in India, among some Sikhs, and among Muslims globally.” I wonder why the author has to bring in Hindus here. There is no scripture which says that a girl can not marry some one of their choice. There are some communities which consider it a dishonour; it is wrong to apply it to Hindus in general.
