pressure Iran to free Nazanin

Date:

Tue, 10 Jan 2006 15:53:13 +0100

To United Nations Human Rights Commissioner.

Dear Sir / Madame,

I was shocked to read the news about Nazanin, this poor girl in Iran this morning when visiting the website of www.faithfreedom.org.

It is very hard to understand how this can ever happen in today's world.

Please do anything you can to save this innocent girl from this barbaric death by hanging, just because she was so brave to defend herself against three rapists.   Isn't this a clear violation of human right and a crime against humanity?

Please don't act as you have not heard about this girl.

Read also the following article that I got from a friend recently. I hope that Nazanin's story would not be the same.

a sparrow

Whose life is more important for BBC? Ask them!

Compare these two events:

1) Dozens of volunteers spent several weeks setting up 4 million dominos in preparation for the Dutch world record domino-toppling attempt. A sparrow flew into the hall and knocked over 23,000 and seemed likely to topple many more. So someone shot it - with an air rifle. There was an immediate outrage - a 'tribute web site' was set up by animal rights activists - over
20,000 people visited the site. The world record attempt was due to be televised, but after the 'murder' even TV staff started to receive threats. The person who shot the sparrow was charged with shooting an endangered species and fined £100 - read all about it here:

"The bird was kept in a government freezer after its killing became a criminal matter. It will be placed on top of a box of dominoes in an exhibition on sparrows next year."

2) "Iranian Christians are mourning the death of Ghorban Dordi Tourani, an Iranian believer assassinated last year by an unnamed group of fanatical Muslims and the first Turkmen in Iran known to have been martyred for his Christian faith.

A house church leader in northeastern Iran , Tourani was arrested from his home in Gonbad-e-Kavus on November 22. A few hours later, the 53-year-old convert to Christianity had been stabbed to death, his beaten, bleeding body thrown in front of his home.

I cannot find any mention of this story on the BBC web site. To my knowledge, no memorial site has been set up, thousands of people have NOT protested, and apart from selected Christian news sites, the wider Church doesn't seem to know of the renewed persecution in Iran .

Sincerely yours,

W. Yari from the Netherlands

Did you write your petition to the UNHRC to save the life of Nazanin yet?

I take seriously your plea to protest this girl's death sentence. But there are no sources cited in your article and an internet search on this turned up nothing. Has Amnesty International taken an interest in this girl's life? It would be helpful to those of us who would like to protest and who are willing to sign our names and email addresses to know beyond doubt that this is a real human being facing a true life or death emergency. And that the email address given to protest to is a recognizable destination. If we readers of Faith Freedom are to be engaged in protest in a meaningful way then we must have more complete information. I hope you will help me out here!

Dear Suzanne:

No one has taken any interest in this girl. No one seems to be interested in saving the life of this innocent girl. The mainstream media has different priorities. Shooting a sparrow makes a better story than hanging an innocent girl in Iran. After all this is not news. These things happen everyday and it is not worth reporting.

Here is all you can find on the Net about Nazanin

One injustice is done by the criminal and misogynist mullahs and another by the rest of humanity who remain silent and do not give a damn. Write to the big press and ask them why they do not report this.

The email I gave is genuine. It belongs to the Office of High Commissioner of Human Rights taken from their site.

 Dear UN Human Rights Commissioner,

This is a petition against the death sentence imposed against Nazanin, a 17-year old girl, by a tyrannical Sharia Court of Iran. The whole episode can be read here http://www.faithfreedom.org/Announcement/601081013.htm. It is inhumane to impose death sentence against a woman who was trying to protect herself from three diabolic rapists. Such incidents can happen only in Islamic countries. This is the age of reasoning and not a Mohammedan era. The world cannot tolerate the abuse of human rights. There is a proverb which says 'justice delayed is justice denied'. I hence request you to take immediate action by putting international pressure on the Mullahs of Iran and save the life of this innocent girl.

Thanking you,

Yours truly,
