It becomes quite clear from the words
of Mr. Johnson that
America
(and one may add
Canada
also) while it succeeded in assimilating countless waves of immigrants from the
old world, the vast majority came from
Europe
. Before the Immigration Law was drastically changed during the Johnson
Administration, very few Muslims came to the
USA
. Now however, their number is growing rapidly, and in some areas like
Dearborn
,
Michigan
, they have made their presence very much felt.
Furthermore, it should be remembered that prior to the
1950s, the majority of Levantine people that have settled in the
United States
and
Canada
literally “melted” within the local population. The reason was very simple:
they were Eastern Christians, and had no difficulty at all in integrating into
American culture. In fact, if you make a study of their children’s marriages,
you will soon discover that many among them did not chose mates from their own
ethnic group. The intermarriages that took place among second or third
generation Levantine immigrants accelerated the rate of integration. The only
remaining distinguishing link to their origin can be found in the names they
carry, and the cuisine they cherish and share with their fellow-Americans.
So while we watch with horror night after night on our
television screens the scenes of destruction in
France
, we may not be very smug about our situation being so different from
Europe
. That we are not safe from Islamic terrorism has been imprinted on our minds,
and the very mention of 9/11 reminds us of the destruction and killing that were
inflicted on us by the nineteen infamous Islamists. That should teach us not
only to carry the war against Jihadism overseas, but to be wary of admitting
more Muslims to this country.
I end by making this modest proposal: our immigration and
naturalization laws should reflect the fact that prospective immigrants from
Muslim lands should be admitted only if they leave behind the political
component of their Islam. And when Muslim immigrants eventually apply for
citizenship, part of their examination by an INS attorney should include a
serious investigation of their political baggage. Generally, a foreign citizen
upon completing all the requirement for naturalization, appears before a federal
judge and takes an oath of allegiance to the Constitution of the
USA
. Equally, such a person renounces his or her allegiance to his former country
of citizenship. It is not manifesting religious discrimination if Muslims are
asked to renounce as well their inherited political baggage before they are
granted the privilege of
U.S.
citizenship. Unless we embark on such measures, we can expect serious troubles
in the future within
America
. These would accelerate if and when
Europe
is absorbed within Daru’l Islam. When we ignore the lessons of
history, we invite certain disaster. The French are going through this horrific
trauma right now!
