I never thought I would be writing this ever in my life. The first time I read your discussion was with some lady over the rights of women in Islam.
When I was in my 6th grade I was unhappy at certain things that I got to know about the way women are treated in Islam. This included the property rights and divorce procedures. But never in my entire life I had known that Muslims actually used to rape prisoners of wars and this was sanctioned by the Prophet. All in my entire life I read in my Islamic books that Muslims treated prisoners with kindness this and that. I don’t find any sort of kindness in raping women who were captured. The only kindness was when they invaded Mecca. Maybe they did not mistreat the Meccans because it was the city in which our so called prophet was born and his relatives and the relatives of his followers were living there.
Well I do know one thing; maulvis in Pakistan tell us strange things like when we look into the mirror we should recite this; when we enter the house should say that; when we travel we should recite that dau, etc. These are the things they teach us. But, why do they hide such a BIG THING such as Muslims used to rape women captured in their raids? Yes it can only be called RAPE. How can a girl allow a person to have sex with her when they have killed her brother or father or husband? I cannot imagine myself or my mother or my sister in such a condition. It makes me sick to the stomach. You opened my eyes. I used to think so badly of the soldiers who raped women in Iraq. But the point is, are Muslims any better? They raped women when they could. Now, according to the logic of Islam, Iraq was in a state of war; therefore, based on Islamic reasoning, it was perfectly justifiable for the coquering army to raped the women.
Again based on Islamic logic, Iraq lost, so basically all the people in Iraq should becomne slaves of Americans including their women and children. But the thing is, only a handful of women in Iraq were raped and their rapists are prosecuted and sent to jail. Had it been the other way round and Muslims were the conquerors of a non-Muslim country, all the women would have become booty of Muslim soldiers and all of the pretty ones would have been raped.
I feel disgusted! I cannot imagine my six year old, or any six year old girl to be married to a 50 year old guy NO matter how religious that person is.
I am a woman and I don’t have a “short memory,” as Muhammad said. I am not “deficient in intelligence” either. I have outsmarted many guys in my life. All my life I have studied on scholarship and right now I am perusing a degree again on scholarship. Then how can our prophet say we women have short memory and deficient in intelligence? This is scientifically wrong.
Now considering that a girl is raped. Where in the world can she find 4 men to testify in her case? Rape is not a circus that people will be invited to watch. It’s usually done in an isolated place where no one can see. Say a girl was raped and gets pregnant. She needs 4 witnesses to prove she was raped and usually there isn’t even one. But the proof that she had sex out of the wedlock is there in her womb. Then what will happen according to Islamic law? She can’t provide any proof of rape. So she will be accused of adultery and stoned to death. Does this sound just or logical? No it doesn’t – at least to those who have a heart and a brain.
Your conversation with that lady, Julia Roach, shook me to the core. It made me feel ashamed, sad, and mad! What have I been following all my life? They tell you only the good parts, but never these truths.
We in Pakistan never bothered to read the Quran in detail. We only knew what we were taught in our schools. The rest, we just depended on the scholars, (who obviously lied to us, told us the good things nothing about slaves and their rape was ever mentioned)
I tried to tell the things that I have learned to my family, but they have started calling me Kafir and stuff. When I was in Pakistan I used to be the same. I just wouldn’t listen to anything that was against Islam. I would close my eyes and my ears. I cannot denounce Islam publically because my parents would be ashamed of me. I do not follow it anymore and if I get a chance anywhere I point to the fallacies of Islam, to my friends as well. If I tell them I have denounced Islam they will never listen to me. I want them to listen to me and think logically just the way I did.

She came knock on my door one day…….penniless, jobless, got kick out from the hostel and feeling so lost. Do you know what I think is the problem here: The word Satan. The problem I believe with people who institute this whole concept of SATAN is because they do not want to accept their own weakness. They blame others on their own weakness. Its always others people fault and never you.

I'm not a new of TTI, so it's very late to introduce myself. Just last week, I was Don, an average Chinese univ student. And now, I'm Nurdeen, a new bro of yours. I'd like to talk about my conversion story. I'll be very happy if u like it.
I became interested in religion since starting my univ career, 4 or 5 years ago. I read the scriptures of Buddhism, Bible, also some basic information of Islam. Do u know what did i find in Islam? A big Surprise! My country sticks to the ideology of Materialism and Atheism, in our education system, "religion" is labeled as something fake and deceptive. The image of God, or gods was created by some stupid barbarians and was taken advantage of rulers. Men themselves create some idols and worship such idols and that's the essence of religion, they say. Well, but what did i c in Islam? As we all know, the very spirit of Islam is to destroy the worshipping of any idol, whatever a tree, a stone, a sculpture, a pic or a monarch. While what do those so-called Materialist, or atheist do? They say we don't believe in any superstition, but they worship their "revolutionary leader", or money, or power with 200% passion and enthusiasm. I appreciated the very core of Islam, however, at that time Islam was just A religion, not THE religion for me.
Then one night, laying on the bed, a thought suddenly hit me. I asked myself, do i accept the Kalimah "La illaha illa Allah, Muhammadur Rasulullah"? Ok, problem. Then why cant i become a Muslim? Wow it really shocked me, I couldn't believe such a crazy idea!!! Well at that time i was not prepared, but the seed of Iman began to grow.
Afterwards I studied many many articles, lectures, documentaries, TV episodes…… My knowledge of Islam expanded. In 2007, I met a Turkish sis online. One day she asked me, did u say the Shahadah? I answered no, not yet, coz I don't think I’m prepared. Then she said, why not? Do u accept Shahadah? I said yeah, I do. She said, then u should say it ASAP. Coz u don't know when will u die. Maybe 2morrow. Well she really inspired me and soon i said Shahadah (in Arabic, surely). Both she and i were very happy. Alhamdulillah I became a Muslim since that day, though my Iman was not very solid.
I started to know different sisters or bros worldwide. Inshallah they're all very very kind and cute and helpful. Some told me how to perform prayer, some introduced me the conditions of their countries, some talked with the Islamic history, well, i really learnt so much from these bros and sisters!!!
One night, I was listening to the recitation of Sheikh Minshary bin Rashid al-Afasy, Sura 55, ar-Rahman. It almost brought out my tears. I knew I would never ever leave Islam! At the same time I started to read the Qur'aan systematically. Well, the feeling was amazing! Some verses among it seemed not only answer the questions of Prophet Muhammad(s.a.w.)'s era, but contemporary issues. I don't know if I'm clearly, I mean the Qur'aan is not only guiding the ppl in Arabian peninsula in 7th century, but every one in every time. And I read some pamphlets before, saying Qur'aan was written by one or some persons, it's an artificial product, etc. Now I knew it's impossible. This book is beyond the imagination and understanding of human beings. No one, whatever Homer, Virgil, Dante or Dostoevsky can write such a book. What's more, I found in the Qur'aan, many ignorant ppl at that time also called Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. a liar, a deceiver, just like many ignorant ppl do today, and Allah s.w.t. protects Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. from any rumor and attack. Alhamdulillah!
So u know I was a Muslim, but I still worried about too much. I even didn't perform prayer. However, in 2008, I myself met many obstacles in my life, I was suffering big psychological burdens for something, once a time I thought I couldn't take it any more. But I knew I would never give up my faith in Allah s.w.t. During the gloomiest days, I knew I need the prayer. My hardness was the test from Allah. Faith is not so easy. Faith is valuable just after pains and sorrows. I'll remember that day forever. 16th, July, 2008, I prayed for the first time in my life. Some weeks later, one afternoon I was browsing the Qur'aan at random and I met the first 2 verses of Sura 110. "Itha jaa nasru Allahi waalfathu, Waraayta alnnasa yadkhuloona fee deeni Allahi afwajan." I couldn't control myself and my tears burnt out. 1400 years ago, Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. was under the insult and persecution by Meccans, never losing his ambition. 1400 years later, a 23-year-old Chinese univ student decided to follow Prophet's path in his remaining life. Do u know what does it mean to me? It's much more than a legend or adventure. It likes FATE. Just 4 or 5 years ago I thought I would never believe in any religion, and now things changed, Allah s.w.t. wins. Plz think of it, bro and sis. Surely it's my FATE. It seemed so far, but when it comes, I don't know how to refuse. The only thing I can do is to embrace my FATE firmly, unswervingly.
In the Ramadan of 2008, I tried to keep fast. One day I was standing in the balcony of the school, a big crowds passed by me, went upstairs to take lunch. I gazed at them, then turned my head towards the sky. I was much more fortunately than them. They went to seek the food and success in this world, while I was on the path of true life. My feeling at that time can be described as "Noble Loneliness". Thx God He granted me Islam. I must cherish it, love it, praise it, follow it, it's more than my life.
Alhamdulillah in the end of 2008, all my burdens were removed miraculously. Things looked so fascinating and amazing. I can't believe in my achievements in this year. I knew Allah answered my prayer and now it's the time to do something for Him. Two weeks ago I was listening to an mp3 lecture by Imam Hisham al-Awadi. He asked, "what's the turning point in your life?" I knew, my turning point is now, here.
Last Tuesday I sent a msg to a Muslim friend, telling him I want to convert (I chatted with him before, but he didn't know my decision yet). He said ok, good, plz come to the masjid this Saturday. So u know, 17th, Jan. 2009, my turning point came. I performed the Asr prayer with my bros for the first time and talked with the Imam. Listening to my statement, the Imam said repeatedly "Allahu Akbar" and ic, both of us were very satisfied. The Imam gave me a Muslim name, Nurdeen, "the light of religion". So now I'm Nurdeen Dong Neng, a new bro of u all. I spent 4 years to be here with u, and there will be no regrets in my life anymore. Allahu Akbar!!!
Well it's the end of this thread. My dear bro and sis, I wish my story will help u to think of our faith and our fate. Before accepting Islam, I had no relation with any religion, neither my family, neither majority of my fellow ppl. Allah chose me even before I was born, and this fate binds me with u tightly. Dear Muslima, I am so very proud of you. No, it's true. Some men don't even come close to the intelligence of some women. Yes, I am a man, but I'm honest. Again, I say that I am very proud of you. This goes to show how Islam is a barbaric cult that affirms itself in the ignorance of its adherences, supertitions and silencing critics. Superstitions like how to get into the toilet room, how to make sex, how to bury the dead, a lot of stupidity! Some people object all religions contain rituals, however in Islam it is too much! This is what I call "appeasing God". Why dont they let God punish that adulterer himself? By the way according to Islamic doctrines sinners are punished by fire in hell so why dont they leave them (sinners) up to God for the judgement day? We Hindus have all kinds of pictures and statues and scriptures of them for evidence. You know sanskrit language is the oldest language in history of mankind and I have no idea how to read them, but aren't those sanskrit scriptures evidence enough that our gods exist?

No you should not have any of such feeling at all. At that particular moment in time, its the right because you have no knowledge. Now you have read and it has open your doors to the real issue at hand.
As a muslim/malay girl I grew up in the same circumstance. I am told as a girl you are inferior to the guys. You're not to question why? They discourage the gals from going to school or to seek higher knowledge because its a threat to the men. "What's the point of sending your daughter to school……" my uncle once told my mother "she will end up in the kitchen" but I fought my way……I told him "I will work for my own education and will not ask a single cent from you……so you back off from my life" And the struggle and the fight pays off …..I can stand on my own two feet……. and I believe there's many others like me and you out there. We must extend our hand to help them…….break this cycle of violence and intimidation. Sharia law must be rejected on the basis that it's does not deliver justice to the woman.

Congratulations to you for being able to see the truth! Now there is no reason for you to be ashamed of anything. We cannot choose the families into which we are born.
To tell you the truth, most South Asian Muslim dont bother to read the Qur'an. Even those who do dont give understand the words which are in a foreign laguage. I am pretty sure that if South Asian Muslims specifically begin to read the Qur'an in Arabic with an understanding they will realise the stupidity of following Islam. Initially everyone gets a rude shock to know that he or she is following a dumb desert ideology. It takes a lot of time for wounds to heal.
My advice to you would be not to speak to your family regarding your apostacy. If you are living in a wetern country, you should shift immediately incase you are financially independent. Its would also be in your best interets to stay away from converting to other religions right now. After one apostizes from Islam a huge gap is created in one's life which one tries to full by converting to some other religious philosophy. You will find a lot of people who will try to sell their God to you, be wary of them and try to crave your own destiny.

I don't know about Bible but I know about the world history of last two thousand years. Christianity has done more harm to humanity than any other cult. This is my first time posting a comment on this forum. I am saddened (yet skeptical) of the ex-Muslims here who post their stories of their leaving the Perfect truth of Islam. It's quite obvious that they usually leave for materialistic reasons (like Kormal) instead of spiritual. Rest assured, I will never join the club of apostates and will die as a Muslim (Guaranteed). The reason: In my life as a Muslim on numerous occasions have I been blessed in witnessing unexplainable miracles from Allah which affected me personally and profoundly and hence getting to see signs from Him which He promised He would show us as mentioned in the Glorious Quran (41:53). Now, understandably many would shrug aside my claim of having experienced clear signs from my Creator Allah but it's those signs which could never be attributed to co-incidence which have firmly cemented my faith as a Muslim. I have studied a good portion of this FFI website and have realized that all that is posted here is perfectly refutable but will never be admitted to by the protagonists of this site for obvious reasons. Obviously though my faith as a Muslim has been cemented by the miraculous signs my Creator sent to me but it is clear that for others who frequent this site, I would have to use my intellect in playing my part in totally refuting the content on this site even though it is abundantly apparent that the protagonists of this site would stubbornly refuse to admit that their arguments against Islam are on weak grounds. Significantly contributing to the refutation of the arguments of this site will be my personal project in my free time for the next few years. I intend to diligently and meticulously apply every bit of my intellect in helping to refute the content on this site. Already the signs are promising as a lot of what I have seen so far, I found was easily refutable just looking at it at first glance. Allah is most definitely on my side and with greater resources and more time, I'm confident that I along with other Muslims would succeed in intellectually reducing this sites content to rubble for only the close-minded and desperate Islamophobes to cling onto. I have experienced some things that cannot be explained by science and I believe in God too.

1) no one ever said rape is okay. in fact, in islam it is a grave sin.
2) the thing with the 4 witnesses – it only applies to carrying out the hadd punishment (punishment for adulterers) which is used in islamic countries. if there aren't 4 witnesses, the punishment won't be applied. but you dont need 4 witnesses to prove that you got raped. a dna test or something is good enough for that, so being pregnant is not sufficient evidence to get you in jail.
3) in islam, it is a SIN for men to beat their wives. no one said that is allowed.
4) nowhere in the Quran does it say that women are inferior to men or that their intelligence is inferior to that of a man. both genders are treated EQUALLY.

Yes like all educated Pakistani girls you are very intelligent, but being intelligent is not the same as being experienced and exposed. for example, Did you know what the word was like before you had the internet? Before the world was at your fingertips, could you envision what was on the other side? You are like most girls in Pakistan who are not so exposed to the real realities and downsides of this world.
If you were, you would find that Islam is the ony answer. You need to see this to know what the benefits of islam are.
