Iranian but not Muslim
7/18/2013
My fellow German citizens can take me for an Indian, Bengali, Arab, Turk, hybrid…….. And keep arguing that they cannot differentiate between the different peoples of the world. There is no shame for me as an Iranian-born German. Uncomfortable is the fact that my fellow Germans insist that I should be a Muslim Iranian as though my worldliness brings exactly the opposite of this expression.
This image is reinforced by reports in the media in which veiled women, bearded men and / or Mullahs are shown wearing a turban. This image is very inaccurate and does not reflect the actual situation in the country in general, and certainly not the inner attitude of the majority of a people. What power would have such images and reports clearly when I express to that many Iranians think that all Germans were Nazis and vice versa. Many German think that all Iranians are Muslim; that this way of thinking is wrong or not true is aware of every thinking person.
Because of my appearance, name, and my lineage I have no complexes. Embarrassing to me is that despite my non-Muslim beliefs, the same people always ask if I am Muslim. To clarify: in totalitarian countries such as Iran, there are no correct statistics, with the help of which can be found, what percentage of the population have any convictions.
This lack applies to Iran that before the inception of Islamic regime, there were more followers of the Islamic religion as now – 34 years after the establishment of the Islamic regime. This change is to be regarded as a “success” of the regime that the population has become so far aware of the Islamic cult. Iranians have become conscious of the approach of the totalitarian regime with Islam and thus withdraw into non-Muslim. In this respect the Islamic leaders (fanatical and brutal mullahs) have contributed to the knowledge of people in Iran.
A characteristic of Islam is, among other things, the Islamic women’s code of clothing. It is discrimination against women and in contradiction to the German constitution banning racism. Any kinds of Islamic hijab are misogynistic and isolate women in an Islamic gender apartheid-like society. Most Iranians reject hijab and Islamic norms today, this is indeed a difference between conscious Iranians and the Islamic world still dominated by Islam.
