In a speech last October, President Jacques Chirac proposed the creation of a new department in the Louvre dedicated to Islamic Art. This department, in Chirac's view, would not only be an instrument of diplomacy but also of interior policy and will "highlight the universal vocation of this museum and will be a living example of cultural dialogue."

Indeed during a period of racial and religious prejudices, the creation of such a department would have an effect on each group's understanding and perception of the other. Yet so far, and despite Chirac's resolution, the Louvre has not found the required funds or space to display its collection of Islamic Art.

Is there such a thing as Islamic art? Isn't it against Sharia Law to depict humanity in art?

Isn't "Islamic Art" a paradox? Didn't someone in the U.K. (Ummah Kingdom) just recently paint a picture of Ayesha , MohamMAD'S baby bride, and didn't Muslim organizations aplenty get into a big stink over that picture? A publisher had a pic of MohamMAD surrounded by naked women and more Muslim organizations raised hell over that as well too.

So imagine if the Louvre did get such a wing called "Islamic Art" wouldn't Muslims all over Europe call for such a thing to be removed from the Louvre? Europe needs a reality check and fast when it comes to Islam and Muslim immigrants.....when you hear some Britons refer to London as "Londonstan", it's time for Europe to start cracking down on its immigration policies. Chirac is an idiot anyways, not even the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art has an exclusive section called Islamic art.....they don't even have one called Christian Art............I hope that France doesn't get occupied yet again by fanatics of a cult (I'm talking about Islam not Nazism)

A joke.
Why did it take 3 days for German NAZIs to invade France?
Because it was raining.

Yes, actually some modern whack-o artists consider museums of torture and murder a form of art.

islamic artists do interesting things to human bodies.

I just wonder, is Sackler at Harvard the only place having Islamic art component?
