Someone explain why almost everything in the Quran has to be explained. Isn’t Allah smart enough to communicate more clearly? Passage upon passage requires tortured, almost comical linguistic slight of hand to explain away the clear meaning of words and phrases. Words have specific meaning until they appear in the Quran or Hadith; then they get re-defined in such a way that they bear little resemblance to their original accepted meaning and are molded into something more palatable to the image of Islam.

I still haven’t heard an honest logical explanation why alcohol is the handiwork of Satan but rivers of it flow in heaven. Promiscuous sex is forbidden on earth but scores of virgins and young boys on sofas await the faithful in heaven.

Good question. The book of Revelations in the Bible reminds me of this one for some reason.

In Iran there is a saying :

"Divane sangi dar chah andazad.
Sad dana natavand dar avarad."

It means:

"I stupid man put stone in well (watering place)
one hundred clever men cant take it out."

This is the history of Islam. Islam is like the stone in the well. Muhammad put it there.
Muslims need the water, but they cant get it because of the stone.
They think the stone is more important than the water. So what muslims do is , puting more and more stones in the well.

This should explain it:

http://www.faithfreedom.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=16723&highlight=#16723

The quran is clear it just requires a 17,000 word interpretation of what is meant by clear by a brilliant muslim.

Best wishes,
Rand

...and isn't it ironic that the Quran claims, over and over, to be "clear"

No wonder the world of Islam likes to stifle thought... Thinking leads to questions like this one!
