I have already put my thoughts on this earlier:
This:
| Quote: | | Faith is something that we believe in without any basis for that belief. Examples include belief in god, magic, fairies, witches, ghosts and other similar myths. If the IDEAL religion aims at seeking/discovering the truth, it should not insist on faith nor should it postulate anything without basis. |
And later, This:
| Quote: | | I think of "basis" is a set of criteria we agree upon among ourselves to use for evaluating and accepting different concepts. "Reality" is what passes through these agreed set of "basis". "Faith" is something that is accepted even though it does not pass through the "basis" or that which is postulated and accepted without specifying any basis. |

No, the discussion is still very much on. And I expect it will continue till either of us runs out of ideas. Waiting for Gauge now... _________________ Think like a child... keep an open mind. |

Critical mate,
Same thing...different language...bear with us...
BBG,
No, nowhere near a conclusion...probably never will be...then again...
Thinklogic,
I think I assumed we were on the same page...check out Godels theorems, G.J. Chaitins "Limits of Mathematics"...or check out the thread on the atheism forum called "a guide to religious debate" for my arguments...as for the "everything" being "I" or you, first check out "solipsism" on the net and check out counters....then we wil continue...or we will continue on the fly anyhow...
These are the beginnings of interesting debates to follow...Critical, BBG and Thinklogic...lets stay on board, we all will have great input to come...patience is what is required...

p.s. Thinklogic, not too much time to address your previous post in depth...will do so when time permits...in the meantime (the above)...shoot me quickfire questions...by the way, a PHYSICAL singularity is very different from co-ordinate singularities as you say Hawking points out...very strange that he should point out what is diametrically opposed to his seminal work on black hole singularities, the singularity theorems, with Penrose...then again, what was the context he said them in? Maybe I can help with what he actually meant...otherwise I am just flying blind here...and no, it's not a quite what I am getting at...but rest assured, I will...I am tre busee at the moment, so it may be a while (few days at most...hopefully, between posts)...but please keep this thread alive...it is really, the best thread on the forum, due to it's select company (as far as non-disruption by shyte-slinging or agenda driven thought-mongers go...any readers out there who want to weigh in...welcome!)...lets all stay tuned...
