One comment about that Islamic Q & A site:
| Quote: | | In the event of a separation, it is the mother, and not the father, who has the right to custody of the children. | This item is a lie, a BIG one! The father gets custody. If it is a girl child, the husband may give her into the custody of her mother until she is 7 years old, then take her back... probably to marry off by age 9! He doesn't have to let the mother have any custody rights at all. Any she might be given with regard to her daughter is over the minute she remarries. As for sons, the mother never gets custody rights past the child's weaning. As for reverts (those born non-Muslim that have converted to Islam to marry a Muslim), she will never get any custody rights. It simply isn't done. Even if she stays married to the SOB, her raising of the children will be overruled by born Muslim family members lest she herself have any residual non-Muslim influences on them. Even if the father dies, the children will only go to the custody of another male family member. _________________ It takes a heavy set of horns to support a good halo! |

002.228
YUSUFALI: Divorced women shall wait concerning themselves for three monthly periods. Nor is it lawful for them to hide what Allah Hath created in their wombs, if they have faith in Allah and the Last Day. And their husbands have the better right to take them back in that period, if they wish for reconciliation. And women shall have rights similar to the rights against them, according to what is equitable; but men have a degree (of advantage) over them.

PICKTHAL: Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great.
So men can punish rebellious wives by beating them. Lets see what if Islam allows a woman to punish a rebellious husband in a similar manner?
Nope! If the man is cruel then the woman must seek to please him and compromise with the greedy cruel husband as per verse 4:128
004.128
YUSUFALI: If a wife fears cruelty or desertion on her husband's part, there is no blame on them if they arrange an amicable settlement between themselves; and such settlement is best; even though men's souls are swayed by greed. But if ye do good and practise self-restraint, Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do.
002.282
YUSUFALI: O ye who believe! When ye deal with each other, in transactions involving future obligations in a fixed period of time, reduce them to writing..... If they party liable is mentally deficient, or weak, or unable Himself to dictate, let his guardian dictate faithfully, and get two witnesses, out of your own men, and if there are not two men, then a man and two women, such as ye choose, for witnesses, so that if one of them errs, the other can remind her.
004.011
YUSUFALI: Allah (thus) directs you as regards your Children's (Inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females: if only daughters, two or more, their share is two-thirds of the inheritance; if only one, her share is a half. For parents, a sixth share of the inheritance to each, if the deceased left children; if no children, and the parents are the (only) heirs, the mother has a third; if the deceased Left brothers (or sisters) the mother has a sixth....
004.003
YUSUFALI: If ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, Marry women of your choice, Two or three or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or (a captive) that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice.
Oh and what do you know? Sex with captive women and slave women is also permitted…23:1-6
023.001
YUSUFALI: The believers must (eventually) win through,-
023.002
YUSUFALI: Those who humble themselves in their prayers;
023.003
YUSUFALI: Who avoid vain talk;
023.004
YUSUFALI: Who are active in deeds of charity;
023.005
YUSUFALI: Who abstain from sex,
023.006
YUSUFALI: Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (in their case) they are free from blame,
PICKTHAL: And all married women (are forbidden unto you) except those (captives) whom your right hands possess. It is a decree of Allah for you. Lawful unto you are all beyond those mentioned, so that ye seek them with your wealth in honest wedlock, not debauchery. And those of whom ye seek content (by marrying them), give unto them their portions as a duty. And there is no sin for you in what ye do by mutual agreement after the duty (hath been done). Lo! Allah is ever Knower, Wise.
That about sums it up folks! But you can read more about that here:
