Two suspected militants blew themselves up Thursday in the holy city of Mecca when security forces tried to arrest them, while a third was shot to death by police during a raid in Riyadh, officials said.

The two who died in Mecca likely belonged to a terror cell that had clashed with Saudi police Monday, a security official said. That cell had been linked to al-Qaida, the terrorist network blamed for the Sept. 11 attacks and for a string of suicide bombings in the Saudi capital of Riyadh in May.

Maybe. Or maybe these guys are actually so nuts they are willing to do even that. I guess both are possible. Even though I agree with you it does sound a little bit strange.

Saudis are "pretending" to fight terrorism as much as Iranian mullahs are. They are all in it together. The word '"Organizd Crime" comes to mind in this case.

I think the terrorism is real. The suicide bombers were linked to Al Qaeda.

Note this:

Quote:

Some think that Zawahiri is actually the planner of the more dramatic attacks of recent years, and the probable successor to Bin Ladin. An Egyptian and founder of Egypt's Jihad Organization, which was involved in the assassination of Anwar Sadat in 1981, Zawahiri has been closely allied with Bin Ladin since some time prior to 1998, and has been often identified as being one of the key operational chiefs, along with another radical of Egyptian origin, Muhammad ‘Atef. A physician by training, Zawahiri may also be Bin Ladin's personal doctor; Bin Ladin is said to suffer from a number of serious ailments.

Zawahiri was born in Egypt (apparently in Giza) on June 19, 1951. Trained as a physician, he became involved in radical Islamist politics and was a founder of the Jihad Organization, which in addition to its role in the assassination of Sadat, also staged an uprising at Asyut in Upper Egypt at the same time in October 1981.

When will you PC people quit calling them suicide bombers. They are murder bombers. Suicide is the killing of one's self. Detonating a bomb on your person to kill others is NOT suicide.
When the left opens their eyes they will begin to see.
We will not be safe until islam is portrayed for what it really is. The teachings of a murderous, liar who received his holy word from Satan!

Could also be non-government vigilantes, giving islam a taste of what terrorism is about, acting outside of established and recognised counter-terrorism activitists, with the blame being directed to Al-Queda, muslims will begin to re-think and withdraw there support of Al-Queda; this create further division between muslims.

I too think this is for real. Al-Qaida wants to discredit the Sauds as much as possible, and maybe scare some of the kafir foreigners out of the peninsula. Not to mention get some publicity for themselves and 72 virgins in Paradise. Rolling Eyes

It is indeed al quada. They are homeless now, they need to take over some country to operate. Iranians are not giving them much freedom. Alquada is on it's last struggle for survival. Thats why they are back at home.

According to Islam, suicide is forbidden, while murder of infidels is often allowed/encouraged. I therefore prefer the term suicide bomber.
From a muslim perspective, often the tragedy (but see below) is that the muslim murderer dies, and is often viewed as a martyr, entitled to a higher level in paradise.
From a clarity standpoint, I prefer the term suicide bomber. It differentitates between the case of murdering civilians, and commiting suicide while murdering civilians. The term homicide bomber, is vague in that respect.

Quote:
Volume 4, Book 52, Number 53:Sahih Bukhari
Narrated Anas bin Malik:
The Prophet said, "Nobody who dies and finds good from Allah (in the Hereafter) would wish to come back to this world even if he were given the whole world and whatever is in it, except the martyr who, on seeing the superiority of martyrdom, would like to come back to the world and get killed again (in Allah's Cause)."

Quote:
Volume 1, Book 2, Number 35: Sahih Bukhari
Narrated Abu Huraira:
The Prophet said, "The person who participates in (Holy battles) in Allah's cause and nothing compels him to do so except belief in Allah and His Apostles, will be recompensed by Allah either with a reward, or booty (if he survives) or will be admitted to Paradise (if he is killed in the battle as a martyr). Had I not found it difficult for my followers, then I would not remain behind any sariya going for Jihad and I would have loved to be martyred in Allah's cause and then made alive, and then martyred and then made alive, and then again martyred in His cause."

Quote:
Volume 4, Book 52, Number 49: Sahih Bukhari
Narrated Samura:
The Prophet said, "Last night two men came to me (in a dream) and made me ascend a tree and then admitted me into a better and superior house, better of which I have never seen. One of them said, 'This house is the house of martyrs."

Well in Dutch we call them (literally) "suicide terrorists". The Belgian peecee media made up it's own terminology calling them "suicide activists". (sounds as if these men are members of Greenpeace ...)

Suicide activists?!? Surely not. I sure hope the most Belgians don't accept that sort of watering down of evil.

There is no question that Saudi supports terrorism and Al Qaeda. But I don't think this bomb was a fake or a set up. Bin Laden dreams of a pan Islamic Calipha. The Saudi Monarchy is in his way.

Paper says militants rigged Koran with explosives : Muslim militants planning attacks in Saudi Arabia's holiest city, Mecca, booby-trapped copies of Islam's holy book, the Koran, to kill and maim pilgrims, a leading Saudi-owned newspaper has reported.

Predictable development.
I can't however buy the theory that every major suicide bombing in Iraq, Pakistan, Morocco, etc is "Al Ouaeda" ( even if it is probably true in this case). Every islamic fanatic movement nowadays probably using this "tool", and I bet we'll see a rival muslim extremist groups blowing each other up and claiming that this is a holy jihad, too.

Saudi Arabia yesterday called for intensified global efforts to stamp out all forms of terrorism. “Terrorism is an international phenomenon which has no religion or nationality,” the Council of Ministers said in a statement after its weekly meeting.

Yeah, that's true. The fact that many Muslim groups can't get along with each other is the one thing that will probably save all of Kafiristan.

That, combined with their Islamic arrogance. They overestimate their strength, awaiting support from angels and the heavenly forces, while underestimating the strength of the democratic culture of the kafirs. In other words: The sheer pompousness, stupidity and divisiveness of Islam is what will finish it off in the end. We just have to limit the number of casualties while this process is happening.
