It's long but very interesting - I'd love to get some comments on this; even if you see just the first 10 minutes.

The first case illustrates much of what we've been talking about here at Faith Freedom in regards to the plight of women. I'm ashamed that Iran has become like this yet the various human dynamics are interesting.

I've seen this documentary a while ago. I remember that it was announced something along the lines of "how iranian women slowly get their power back".

The behavior of the males (no, those are not men) in the docu is shameful, even prostitutes are entitled to get their pay. And which father would sell his teenage daughter off to some prick 20+ years older?

This is what the Islamic Repulic creates for the average person. They have to work within the constraints of the Islamic laws which are unfair to women.

Ziba (btw, means "beautiful") at 15 is yanked out of school and married to that country guy. All she wants to do is finish her education and be free to choose her life. All the talk of her being damaged goods just makes me sick - the man is not damaged goods... who cares if he is virgin or not.

Ixolite, as far as the age difference she kept saying that he told her he was 27. Now he certainly didnt look that young to me and other than marrying off such a young girl, why the hell did the parents choose this man without thoroughly checking him and his family out. It's very strange to me that a girl growing up in the city would be married to a village guy?

The woman who is seeking a divorce because her husband has some sort of sexual problem and keeps saying it in the court just made me laugh and if you watch at the end of the segment, the magistrate is trying not to laugh as well.

The older, chubby woman who seems to genuinely love her husband and he, her but the kids are put in the middle of it all. From watching that one and knowing some of the dynamics in Iran, I believe that the man could be a drug addict or alcoholic OR maybe he's just a product of the society where unemployment is at an all time high (in addition to drug addiction) and he feels powerless to take charge of his life. She seems to believe that this is the only way to put him on the straight and narrow.

In the end, the little girl vows that she will not marry because men are bad. That is probably the saddest part for me.

Indeed, in any countries court you will find so many stories but the lack of fairness and having to work within the constraints of Islamic law, there is no equality under the law.

Yes, and he claimed they had his birth certificate (?) in their house. I tend to believe him, as nobody can be that blind to think he was under 30.

I bet it was the money, but at the end she didn't get it.

I agree, they knew and the money was just too promising. I'm wondering if she was also starting to stretch like most teenagers do and look outside her home for some excitement and they married her off to ensure she did not make some sort of "mistake".

I also wondered why they were all sitting on the floor like a bunch of Arabs? We always had furniture to sit on and much preferred a dining table to eat at

Yes, she definitely wasn't a shy girl. Probably they were also afraid to not be able to get a "decent" husband for her, so they sold her of to the first one.

They had to sell the furniture for the wedding?

Btw, I didn't know you were Iranian.

It took me a few days, but I finally got see the whole video. Wow. I can't even imagine what that must be like. All that back and forth in the court must be almost as stressful as the crappy marriage. Ziba had a lot of moxy, though. A typical teenager, working all the angles. She may not have gotten all she wanted, but I still think she outwitted him on some level. You go, girl!

Wow indeed!

The magistrate kept saying: the kids belong to the father by law...So the mothers are ... incubators?

Because the lady wanted a divorce she's loosing her children? So this is how women are kept in submission to men:" If you don't succomb to my wishes I will take the children away... Yet the chuby lady did not get justice. Her incomplete husband was not being reabilitated in any way.

And the little girl ! How smart ! How observant! She played judge with such a talent. Later will she end up used in a contract ? Will she be happy?

But ...it looks better than Saudi Arabia, Afganistan... I wonder about the others.
