Dear Lilylayla,

as all the other people here, I was really moved by your story and by your ability to think and act independently. That is a trait which will not make your life easy. Wherever you go: the world favours those that just "go along" - but it will make it more truthful and maybe more meaningful also.
I am christian myself, so of course I am happy to hear you favour christianity (I will not pester you with it, though!), and I do not think that this will impair your ability to think for yourself. (BTW: how do you come by information about christianity? I thought any christian literature or symbol is forbidden in Saudi Arabia?)

Contrary to what Ampbreia says, dogmatism (in the bad sense of the word - I do not think dogma per se a bad thing, but that´s another topic) can be found in almost any group, religious or other. She grew up in a fringe sect of Christianity, and had bad experiences with them.

I am sure you know that you must be very careful (after all, people here keep telling you, and they are right), because where you live, thinking independently could be much more dangerous than, say, in Europe or US, where social ostracism is the worst you would have to fear for being a "misfit". (Are you sure you can even trust your shrinks? I think a shrink never should tell a patient what to do, feel or believe).

We all wish you the best, I just wish there was something practical we could do to help you.

I have got nothing to do with islam anymore, neither the turkish immigrants around me.
But they don't know that they are not true muslims, they just think that they are bad muslims.
I put all my reason and thoughts in front of me and was thinking and thinking, till I came to the conclusion that this is not a real religion.
What made me think, is my dear Iranian friend in here and Ali sina, that I found this site I really concider for myself like a milestone in my life.
I, again, want to thank you all, you're all such wonderfull people.

Dear Alperen,

Will you post your story also? I really do admire people who have the inner strength to completely question their worldview/identity. Were you ever a strong believer/religious person? You see, my bosnian boyfriend seems to be somewhat like you and the friends youspeak about: cultural muslim, and I often think he secretly questions it, but doesn´t dare to do this seriously because his identity is too much wrapped up in it.

I'd advise you not to do that, Alperen.

I've seen people attacking you for who you are, and I think they will use what you're gonna write to attack you even more. I don't want to see that happen.

well you're right about that, some people are even getting mad if I say that my parents are from Turkey and that I'm proud about that.
There were even some guys who were doing like I was the one who made the mistakes in past from Turkey.
But this will not stop me, I'm gona make my story and will post it here, the most people here are understanding and kind

Hi LilyLayla,

Like others here, I very much appreciated your testimony. I found it extremely, moving, heartbreaking and interesting all at once. I am very much hoping to see you gain freedom and live in any place of the world you want. It will be a great day at FFI when you post from a location far, far away from Saudi.

I also wanted to say that I have appreciated your postings at FFI, and your compassion and love of peace. Please stay strong in thinking for yourself, and more importantly keep yourself safe. It is always good to see your postings, but like others here have said, continue to keep an extremely low profile and be aware.

I hope you're right about that, dear Alperen.
I do admire your courage, just like I do Lily's.

But my boy friend (the same one I knew, we got back to each other but now he is my Ex boy friend) and my shrink I am seeing (I've been seeing her for a year now and she knows about FFI ) told me other wise and convinced me to pray.

Thanks for sharing your story with us. What are the chances of your shrink telling your FFI encounter to other people?

I was concerned about that same exact question.
