Singapore unlike Malaysia, do not have a parallel sharia law to govern Muslims, it is probably for burial purposes. Muslims would not want non-Muslims to be buried in Muslim cemeteries.

W a h....lan..... this is very very good lah.......ive been looking out for this.

Ive just join this group too...... I like to say, Ive outgrown from my religion of birth..... more then 10 plus now. Nobody influence me. Im not doing it because I have fallen inlove with somebody etc... Its a self discovery. I am not a christian or beloging to any religious group. I believe all rivers lead to the one big ocean. No religion have the right to say they are the only one who have the key to heaven and happiness.

I do know as long as I have this religion in me, I will be always subjected to its condition. Will these become my walls blocking my views? Can I be totally open with myself and with others under my care?
Everyone’s relationship with God is private and personal. Better still why we need religion in the first place especially with regards to our nursing practices if it is going to compromise our nursing care.
So the best method is whenever i put on the uniform I do not exist anymore but what I represent. It makes it easier to deal with such situation. Everything I saw changed me. I do not see people, looked at religion or God in the same way. Believe me it is a good feeling. You really feel freedom.

I guess my nursing experiences instrumental in this journey of mine, to give me the courage and the strength to fight my right to choose my own set of belief. Like many too I have my share of comdemnation from my malay friends.

Did you see in SINDA webiste : it says : [1] The Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA) is a self-help group (SHG), that was formed in August 1991 to address the pressing educational and socio-economic issues facing the Indian community in Singapore. and their vision [2] To build a strong and vibrant Indian Singaporean Community together. If you look at any chinese self help group in singapore too they mention the same... for all chinese community... Now look at MENDAKi what did it says : only for malay muslim. You see the problem here?

As long as the malay community cannot accept this fact that amogst us there are malays christian, malay hindus, malay buddhist etc.. the malays will remain in the state of mental slavery to this Arabization. And they are stuck.. no matter how they think they have advance themselve, they are not because they are still in the state of denial.

Recently there's a case where they penalise a couple for trying to incite racial hatred against the muslim/malay. If you go for their friday sermon, you can hear them repeatedly incite hatred against idol worshipper and kafir. Don't you think so this is an irony? Arent the imams at the mosque doing the same thing. Who are the kafirs and the idol worshipper?

That is true....

But the good thing is, many young malays now know that malays does not equate to muslims. Maybe some still do but many others are open minded in a sense.

My malay friends now know about me. Some dared to asked me on msn "are you a murtad?" Some even think I have turned to be a criminal of some sort.

Anyways, pray that malays see the real light....

There lies the problem, drumming up hatred for everything kuffar. I find it hard to believe how they, immediately after attending Friday prayers, could be so evil as to kill, clash, bomb, or go on a rampage causing destruction and miseries to others. What good is praying at all? Where is the spirituality in Islam at all? I guess the "good feeling" they get out of belittling, cursing and condemning others is their spiritual pinnacle? It is not just in Friday sermons but in lectures, talks, articles, books and religious classes too. Little wonder that the hatred for others grow in them and these people translate it to something physicals Then they wonder why others shun them, 'attack' them, ridicule them, hate them .... They never realise they make enemies of others every days of their lives!!!

There should be more people like Nurul who defy the odds and have seen the big picture.

Hi,
I'm from Singapore too. Although I am not a Christian, but an Atheist, but it's heartening to know that, there is at least 200 non-Muslim Malay in Singapore. I truly truly hope that the Malay church will happen soon.

I just wish non-muslim malays would be publicised more. I was a little pissed when I saw this straits Times report, bragging about a chinese teenager, converting to Islam, Yet they NEVER do any reports about Malays converting OUT of Islam. That tells me how the government is afraid of Islamic violence. The fact that they prosecute anybody who speaks out against Islam, tells me how afraid they are of Muslims. They never prosecute people who speaks even worst derogatorily towards Christianity or Buddhism or Hinduism.

It's sick, and I hate it that Islam controls Singapore in a certain way. The government compromises ALOT with Muslims in order to prevent provoking them into violence.

And I think it is sad that so many Muslims, can only secretly convert out in their hearts, but have problems being open about it. I was with a Malaysian Malay colleague on a trip to Hong Kong recently. We brought him to a chinese restaurant, and was being sensitive, so we made sure we ordered no pork items. To our surprise, when we got back, we heard from other friends who knew him for longer time, that he eats pork with no problems. WHY the hell didn't he say so? I had to sacrifice their yummy roasted pork, because I was trying to be nice. It's almost like, he didn't say so, because he was afraid to be open about it.

OMG, really? Mosque in Singapore talks smack about non-Muslims? I did hear some thing like that from one of my Muslim friends, and that they had to recite arabic stuffs without understanding a word they are saying. To me it all sounds like mind-f.cking.

Seriously, I wish malays wouldn't fear to do anonymous reporting of such incidents to authorities. It is after all against the law to "hurt the feelings" of another religious person. Muslims inciting hatred should be prosecuted.

The government knows from experience how easily muslims can turn violent. It doesn't help that your neighbouring countries are muslims too.

I am not surprised. The bulk of the reputable Islamic theological centres are in places like Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia. And we are quite aware how Muslims in those places discriminate against non-Muslims.

Unfortunately they do live in some kind of delusion, falsehood and lies of their own making, what with all the promises to Singaporeans Islam's is there to 'Bless' non - Muslims.

I know a Malay elder (70 now) who has been appalled at how Muslims obfuscate the truth to the majority to save Muslims and Islam, he's no longer a Muslim.

I learn much from him about the attitudes of Muslims towards non - Muslims. He, together with many other Malay - Christians have been threatened before. Sad.

I, too, wish that Malay - Christians are more visible to the Singapore public to help remove the myth Malay equates Muslims which puts non-Muslim Malay at a disadvantage. It's Islam that separates Malay-Muslims from the majority, not the race per se.
