Hi to everybody, i put this question at the forum "Mohamed" and i wanna put here too, i wish the members can help me to understand this situation.

I need to understand something: why do the people, not few, but lots, say as this member, that (i just catched his post as exemple, couse i really read it many times):

Ali Baba wrote:
"Zaynab, the wife of zaid, mohammeds adopted son and Mohammeds daughter-in-law was not a widow when peeping tom Mohammed peeped into her tent and saw her naked and started having wet dreams of her, and then he asked his son to divorce him as Allah had conveniently revealed a verse that it was rightful for mohammed to marry his own daughter-in-law!

That was your prophet the greatest example for mankind for all times."

If, when reading Quram, what we can understand is:

"YUSUFALI: Behold! Thou didst say to one who had received the grace of Allah and thy favour: "Retain thou (in wedlock) thy wife, and fear Allah." But thou didst hide in thy heart that which Allah was about to make manifest: thou didst fear the people, but it is more fitting that thou shouldst fear Allah. Then when Zaid had dissolved (his marriage) with her, with the necessary (formality), We joined her in marriage to thee: in order that (in future) there may be no difficulty to the Believers in (the matter of) marriage with the wives of their adopted sons, when the latter have dissolved with the necessary (formality) (their marriage) with them. And Allah's command must be fulfilled. "

Elahzab 37

From where this idea that he asked his son to divorst her and from where this idea that he saw her nacked and wished her, that is why he asked her? Again i repeat, i just catched his post as exemple, couse i read it many times. Reading the sura, i can understand that he was divorsting her first, the reason, i don't know, but, then, his father asked her in marriage.

Just to make clear, i am not muslim and i am not trying to show that the Quram is right, i don't care for these things and for Quram, but i am seeing one contradition and i really need to understand. We many times say that the muslims are using the Bible as they need to proof their book or proof that they are right using lies, but aren't we doing the same, saying lies to proof that we are right? i don't know, just i am really needing to know if this first idea has some basis or from where is its roots.

THE QURAN PROVES MUHAMMAD’S LUST FOR ZAYNAB

INTRODUCTION
Some Islamic historical reports narrate how Muhammad lusted for Zaynab bint Jahsh, the wife of his adopted son, Zaid bin Harith. The two main sources are Ibn Sa’d in his Tabaqat and Tabari in his History and Annals. A review of these sources is provided in this reference: http://www.faithfreedom.org/Articles/SKM/zeinab.htm

Ibn Sa’d’s Tabaqat 8:101-102 Zainab had hurried to dress herself when she heard that the Messenger of God was at her door, so she leapt in a hurry, and the Messenger of God was deeply moved by her when she did that. He went away muttering something that was hardly understandable but for this sentence: 'Praise be to God who disposes the hearts.

Tabari’s Annals 2:453 The Messenger of God went out one day seeking him. On Zaid's door was a curtain, which the wind moved to show her unveiled in her chamber. The heart of the Prophet was stricken by admiration for her.

Tabari’s Tarikh VIII:1 In this year the Messenger married Zaynab bt. Jahsh [a first cousin: Allah’s Messenger came to the house of Zaid bin Muhammad. Perhaps the Messenger missed him at that moment. Zaynab, Zaid’s wife, rose to meet him. She was dressed only in a shift…. She jumped up eagerly and excited the admiration of Allah’s Messenger, so that he turned away murmuring something that could scarcely be understood. However, he did say overtly, ‘Glory be to Allah Almighty, who causes hearts to turn!’ So Zaid went to Muhammad. ‘Prophet, I have heard that you came to my house. Why didn’t you go in? Perhaps Zaynab has excited your admiration, so I will leave her.’

Tabari VIII:4 One day Muhammad went out looking for Zaid. Now there was a covering of haircloth over the doorway, but the wind had lifted the covering so that the doorway was uncovered. Zaynab was in her chamber, undressed, and admiration for her entered the heart of the Prophet. After that Allah made her unattractive to Zaid.’

Tabari VIII:3 Zaid left her, and she became free. While the Messenger of Allah was talking with Aisha, a fainting overcame him. When he was released from it, he smiled and said, ‘Who will go to Zaynab to tell her the good news? Allah has married her to me.’ Then the Prophet recited [Qur’an 33] to the end of the passage. Aisha said, ‘I became very uneasy because of what we heard about her beauty and another thing, the loftiest of matters, what Allah had done for her by personally giving her to him in marriage. I said that she would boast of it over us.’

Tabari’s Tafsir of surah 33 verse 37 :
Narrated by Yunis, narrated by Ibn Wahab, narrated by Ibn Zaid who said, "The prophet –pbuh– had married Zaid son of Haritha to his cousin Zainab daughter of Jahsh. One day the prophet –pbuh– went seeking Zaid in his house, whose door had a curtain made of hair. The wind blew the curtain and the prophet saw Zainab in her room unclothed and he admired her in his heart. When Zainab realized that the prophet desired her she began to hate Zaid. {note: Tabari is also known as Ibn Jarir.}

The story is also told in the Quran (translations below from Shakir). The Quran says that human affairs ‘have already been’ decided by Allah, and that Allah would bring to light what Muhammad concealed in his soul for which he feared the people. The Quran also says that when Zaid divorced Zaynab Allah gave her to Muhammad to teach Muslims that adopted sons are not the same as real ones by showing that it is permissible for a man to marry the ex-wife of his adopted son.

33:36 The believing men and women must not feel free to do something in their affairs other than that which has been already decided for them by God and His Messenger. One who disobeys God and His Messenger is in plain error.

33:37 And when you said to him to whom Allah had shown favor and to whom you had shown a favor: Keep your wife to yourself and be careful of (your duty to) Allah; and you concealed in your soul what Allah would bring to light, and you feared men, and Allah had a greater right that you should fear Him. But when Zaid had accomplished his want of her, We gave her to you as a wife, so that there should be no difficulty for the believers in respect of the wives of their adopted sons, when they have accomplished their want of them; and Allah's command shall be performed.

33:38 There is no harm in the Prophet doing that which Allah has ordained for him; such has been the course of Allah with respect to those who have gone before; and the command of Allah is a decree that is made absolute:

33:39 Those who deliver the messages of Allah and fear Him, and do not fear any one but Allah; and Allah is sufficient to take account.

33:40 Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Last of the prophets; and Allah is cognizant of all things.

Thus it is clear that the Quran says that Muhammad had something to conceal which he feared the people over this affair, and that it was Allah who ordered Muhammad to marry Zaynab for the reason stated above.

Critics, however, point out that Muhammad’s admiration for Zaynab was only initiated when he noticed her in a state of undress, thus leading to a charge of ‘lust’. They claim that this episode reflects poorly on Muhammad’s moral character and that he made up the Quranic verse to justify his marriage to Zaynab after Zaid divorced her.

THE ISLAMIST RESPONSE
Islamists are highly embarrassed by the Zaynab affair. Their main response is to attack the veracity of the sources above. In particular they point out that one of the narrators, Muhammad ibn Umar, aka Waqidi, is a notorious inventor of traditions, and therefore, a liar.

http://www.bismikaallahuma.org/archives/2005/qadi-iyad-on-the-story-of-Zaid-and-zaynab/

Quote:
Abd Allah Ibn Ali al Madini and his father said: "Al-Waqidi has 20,000 Hadith I never heard of." And then he said: "His narration shouldn't be used" and considered it weak.

Yahya Ibn Muaen said: "Al-Waqidi said 20,000 false hadith about the prophet."

Al-Shafi'i said, "Al-Waqidi is a liar."

Ibn Hanbal said, "Al-Waqidi is a liar."

Al-Bukhari said he didn't write a single letter by Al-Waqidi. (Siar Aalam al nublaa – althagbi – biography of Al-Waqidi)

http://answering-islam.org/Responses/Menj/nursing_of_adults.htm

Some Islamists also claim other weaknesses in the isnad (chain of narration). Other criticisms claim that since Zaid divorced Zaynab, Muhammad cannot be accused of lust, or that he might have felt guilty over the failure of the Zaid-Zaynab marriage and therefore, made amends by marrying her (pers comm.).

Thus, the Islamist response is to dismiss these hadiths for various reasons. For example, they malign the isnad of Tabari’s Tafsir. {Note: Tabari is also known as ibn Jarir.}

It should be noted that according to one Bukhari hadith (considered sahih or authentic by Sunni Muslims) Zaid had complained to Muhammad about Zaynab, whereupon Muhammad had advised him to keep his wife. This is already told in the Quran and is nothing new to critics who accuse Muhammad of lusting for Zaynab. However, the Islamist response is that since Muhammad had advised against the divorce he cannot be accused of lusting for Zaynab.

Some Muslim apologists even elevate this incident as a ‘romance’ and twist it as an ‘example of Muhammad’s perfection’.

Quote:
Muhammad Husain Haikal, for one, in the course of "refuting" the claims of V. Vacca in the Encyclopaedia of Islam regarding Zainab, speaks about a "glorious deed" of Muhammad, which the orientalists and missionaries have turned into a romance. He says, "As to Zainab Bint Jahsh, who has been wrapped up by orientalists and missionaries in an imaginary picture of romance and infatuation, true history judges that [Muhammad's act with] her was one of the glorious deeds of Muhammad. Being the perfect example of faith, he applied to her the Hadith that says, 'Man's faith is not made perfect till he loves for his brother what he loves for himself'.

Apologists conclude that it is one of the truly great facets of Muhammad's personality. It proves beyond question that Muhammad was the perfect exemplar of his own legislation, especially of such laws as were intended to replace the tradition and customs of pre-Islamic Arabia. He was the exemplar of the new system that God revealed through him as a mercy and guidance to mankind.

THE CRITIC’S RESPONSE

Portions of this story are also told in more authoritative hadiths including the following:

Bukhari 9:93:516: Narrated Anas: Zaid bin Haritha came to the Prophet complaining about his wife. The Prophet kept on saying (to him), "Be afraid of Allah and keep your wife." Aisha said, "If Allah's Apostle were to conceal anything (of the Quran) he would have concealed this Verse." Zainab used to boast before the wives of the Prophet and used to say, "You were given in marriage by your families, while I was married (to the Prophet) by Allah from over seven Heavens." And Thabit recited, "The Verse:-- 'But (O Muhammad) you did hide in your heart that which Allah was about to make manifest, you did fear the people,' (33.37) was revealed in connection with Zainab and Zaid bin Haritha."

Bukhari 9: 93: 517: Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Verse of Al-Hijab (veiling of women) was revealed in connection with Zainab bint Jahsh. (On the day of her marriage with him) the Prophet gave a wedding banquet with bread and meat; and she used to boast before other wives of the Prophet and used to say, "Allah married me (to the Prophet in the Heavens)."

Thus, the fact that Muhammad utilized a ‘divine revelation from Allah’ to marry Zaynab is undeniable from the Muslims’ most authoritative hadiths. Regardless of the authenticity of the accounts of Tabari, Ibn Sa’d and Waqidi, this incident did take place as it was also narrated by other accounts.

For example:

From tafsir al-Qurtubi:

Muqatil narrated that the prophet married Zainab daughter of Jahsh to Zaid and she stayed with him for a while. Then one day the prophet –pbuh– came seeking Zaid but he saw Zainab standing; she was white skinned with a beautiful figure and one of the most perfect women in Quraish. So HE DESIRED HER and said, "Wondrous is Allah who changes the heart." When Zaynab heard the prophet’s exaltation of her, she relayed it to Zaid who then understood (what he had to do). Zaid said to the prophet, "O prophet of Allah, allow me to divorce her, for she has become arrogant; seeing herself superior to me and she insults me with her tongue."

The prophet replied, "Hold onto your wife and fear Allah."

It was said that Allah had sent a wind which lifted the curtain to reveal Zainab in her room. When the prophet saw her HE DESIRED HER and it delighted Zainab to be desired by the prophet – pbuh. When Zaid returned home, she informed him of what had happened and Zaid was thus determined to divorce her. http://answering-islam.org/Responses/Menj/nursing_of_adults.htm

The Muslim commentator al- Zamakhshari had this to say:

After having given her to Zaid ibn Haritha as a wife, the Messenger of God once caught sight of her, and she made an impression of him. At this sight he said: ‘Praise be to God who changes the heart!’

What the Muslims don’t discuss is that there is a sahih hadith of this account from Imam Muslim. Although this sahih hadith does not include the account of “Muhammad lusting after Zaynab upon seeing her disrobed”, it does show up Muhammad’s hypocrisy as he clearly made up Allah’s command AFTER he had wanted to marry her, not before.

Thus it shows Muhammad’s self-serving revelation from his ‘invisible friend’ Allah. The chain of events is this:

1. Zaid had marital problems with his wife, Zaynab and wanted to divorce her. Muhammad tried to dissuade him from doing so as he had arranged the marriage between his adopted son and his cousin.
2. However, Zaid was implacable and divorced Zaynab anyway. Some accounts say that he wanted to divorce Zaynab because he knew Muhammad lusted after his wife.
3. For some reason Muhammad lusted after Zaynab. The moment Zaynab became free to re-marry Muhammad pounced at the chance to fulfill his lust.
4. Zaynab refused to marry Muhammad unless commanded to do so by Allah.
5. Lo and behold, Muhammad revealed 33:37 from Allah.
6. Muslims claim Muhammad did not want to marry Zaynab but was only told to do so by Allah so as to make a silly point that adopted sons are not natural sons and that it is permissible for Muslims to marry the ex-wives of their erstwhile adopted sons.

Sahih Mulim Book 8, Number 3330:
Anas (Allah be pleased with him) reported: When the 'Iddah of Zainab was over, Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said to Zaid to make a mention to her about him. Zaid went on until he came to her and she was fermenting her flour. He (Zaid) said: As I saw her I felt in my heart an idea of her greatness so much so that I could not see towards her (simply for the fact) that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) had made a mention of her. So I turned my back towards her and I turned upon my heels, and said: Zainab, Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) has sent (me) with a message to you. She said: I do not do anything until I solicit the will of my Lord. So she stood at her place of worship and the (verse of) the Qur'an (pertaining to her marriage) were revealed, and Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) came to her without permission. He (the narrator) said: I saw that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) served us bread and meat until it was broad day light and the people went away, but some persons who were busy in conversation stayed on in the house after the meal. Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) also went out and I also followed him, and he began to visit the apartments of his wives greeting them (with the words): As-Salamu 'alaikum, and they would say: Allah's Messenger, how did you find your family (hadrat Zainab)? He (the narrator) stated: I do not know whether I had informed him that the people had gone out or he (the Holy Prophet) informed me (about that). He moved on until he entered the apartment, and I also went and wanted to enter (the apartment) along with him, but he threw a curtain between me and him, as (the verses pertaining to seclusion) had been revealed, and people were instructed in what they had been instructed. Ibn Rafii had made this addition in his narration: "O you who believe, enter not the houses of the Prophet unless permission is given to you for a meal, not waiting for its cooking being finished ... " to the words ". . . Allah forbears not from the truth."

So leaving aside the “Muhammad saw Zaynab undressed” account, what do we know about the incident:

a. Muhammad issued a self-serving situational revelation from Allah only AFTER he had solicited (through Zayd) Zaynab’s hand in marriage.
b. The Quran revealed that “Muhammad had concealed in his soul what Allah would bring to light” by which he “feared men”. What was it that Muhammad had concealed in his soul up to that point? It can only be his lust for Zaynab. The fact that Muhammad felt it important to say this was probably because many people knew of the “Muhammad lusted after Zaynab after seeing her undressed” incident, and therefore knew he had something to hide by which he “feared men”. After all, if he was as free of blemish as the Muslims claim and that he was only commanded by Allah to marry Zaynab to make some ridiculous theological point, then why had he anything to conceal in his soul which Allah has brought to light? What did Allah bring to light from Muhammad’s soul.

These are the troubling facts that Muslim apologists (hell-bent on white-washing Muhammad’s infamous lust for Zaynab) do not explain. They do not show Muhammad in a good light. In fact, they show up his wanton character and the self-serving nature of the situational verses made up by Muhammad and attributed to his ‘invisible friend’ Allah. For incidents like this, Aisha had much to complain about:

Muslim Book 008, Number 3453:
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: I felt jealous of the women who offered themselves to Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) and said: Then when Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, revealed this:" You may defer any one of them you wish, and take to yourself any you wish; and if you desire any you have set aside (no sin is chargeable to you)" (xxxiii. 51), I ('A'isha.) said: It seems to me that your Lord hastens to satisfy your desire.

Muslim Book 008, Number 3454:
Hisham reported on the authority of his father that 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) used to say: Does the woman not feel shy of offering herself to a man? Then Allah the Exalted and Glorious revealed this verse:" You may defer any of them you wish and take to yourself any you wish." I ('A'isha said): It seems to me that your Lord hastens to satisfy your desire.

Yes, Muhammad’s imaginary friend Allah always hastened to satisfy his desire. Thus the Quran proves Muhammad's lust for Zaynab because the verses 33:36-38 were revealed AFTER he had asked for Zaynab's hand in marriage and for which he had something to conceal in his soul that he had to fear men.

Other than Muhammad, how many muslims have married the wives of their adopted sons??
Seemed like a verse specially tailored for Muhammad only.
