We are discussing muslim men's inability to control themselves sexually around any uncovered female. That is trash talk, you can't defend the practice and still want to call this trash talk. It's trashing you... _________________ [/islam].

JJ,
Both fundamentalists? Don't try to group blame. While many women of other religious groups choose to wear a veil or headscarf, no other religion/culture forces or pressures women to wear one.
And what culture prevents women from covering up? In the free world, women are free to wear anything they want. _________________ "The Quran is perfect. How do I know? It says so in the Quran." |

Hello FORWARD
This website is meant to bring in Muslims for open debate, and surely anti-Islamists have enough ammunition to do this.
I therefore think that proper behaviour is required and I could mention the enormous sex trade in Japan and Thailand, and I currently reside in Japan, and yes, women have freedom to dress how they like, and yes, in the morning they have special carriages to prevent them from being molested via all female carriages.
The freedom to cover up or to dress how you like should apply in all nations, and I am against the enforcement of women having to cover up in Saudi Arabia, however, I am also against banning things like they do in France.
Also, you have many different cultures within the Islamic communities, and if you visited parts of the Balkans you will see pretty colours alongside modesty, and in the countryside it is hard to know who happens to be Christian or Muslim.
Southern Russia is also like this, and the styles have nothing to do with Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan.

Though it should be noted that the situation on the Balkans as well
as among other eastern European muslim communities is quite
different because if their traditionally liberal approach towards
the litteral islamic commandments.
However, these customs are commonly regarded to be un-islamic
and wrong by islamic law by all the hardliners.
And especially the Saudi's are now working hard to eradicate all
those liberal "corruptions" of islam and islamic law in the countless
local cultures and customs among muslim peoples throughout the world,
most notably in Bosnia and the Caucasus.
There's a good reason why liberal muslims are always the first
victims when shari'a law is implemented anywhere.
Just look at Aceh... _________________ Check the following articles:

I can just about tolerate the head scarf...but wearing a face scarf when talking to others especially in the West is just plain rude. I dont give a toss about religion and jealous perverted husbands. It is simply bad manners and the face veil should be banned. _________________ Forget history and...... hate... against Israel ..or any other excuse.....terrorism is not justified...I am not a Jew,Christian or a Muslim. I think that banning will only prove that injustice is following injustice.
Muslim women must be given the freedom to dress how they like, and I hope that this freedom is one day enshrined in Islamic states to women and non-Muslims who desire to dress how they like. |
The headscarf is more of a culltural phenomenon rather than an religous in Islam.
Its from ancient Persia
but today it has become a symbol of defeince against the West wich make many westerners espacaily hostily to the practice of muslim women wearing a scarfs even if it is of there own choise. |

Dae Rolf, Silenceislethal, Caleb, jihadjay2:
whatever the justification, origin or political statement is/given/intended by the headscarf/veil, i think we all stand for freedom of choice for women.
here, i'm against COMPULSION, PRESSURE or FORCING women to wear it. i believe the FIRST step is to show just how ridiculous the logic is.
Silenceislethal,
i agree that wearing veil is rude, n it's not just in the west. societies like china, japan n korea would agree that it's strange, if not rude. the attitude that the country u have migrated to should ADJUST ITSELF to accomodate YOUR idiosyncracies is just selfish n ludicrous - n BY ITSELF, RUDE.
also, wearing of veils gives rise to problems which never existed before, such as crime (see below).
yes, women should have that choice. but i would agree only to the extent of headscarf, NOT VEIL. in the case of veil, it's going too far, n there's a need for these women to BALANCE their interests with those of the society. it's VERY SELFISH if u want the society as a whole to face increased level of security risks simply because YOU r tooooooooooooooo VAIN n your husband/OWNER is tooooooooooo IMMATURE.
instead of making everybody else uncomfortable, WHY DON'T U JUST STAY HOME, OR LEAVE?? Saudi Arabia n Iran would welcome one of its own muslim sisters, i'm sure.

Suspect in terror hunt used veil to evade arrest
By Sean O’Neill and Anthony Browne
A MALE suspect in a major anti-terrorist investigation in Britain escaped capture by allegedly disguising himself as a Muslim woman dressed in a burka, The Times can reveal.
The man, who was wanted in connection with serious terrorist offences, evaded arrest for several days as police searched for him across the country.
The fact that a fugitive remained at large after disguising himself in an Islamic dress which covered his face will further fuel the debate sparked by Jack Straw, Leader of the House of Commons, about the wearing of the veil.
Details of the man’s true identity were circulated to ports and airports to try to prevent him leaving the country.
He was eventually caught and is now one of more than 90 suspects in British prisons awaiting trial on terror charges.
The suspect’s name and the detail of the offences he is accused of cannot be revealed because of the danger of prejudicing his forthcoming trial.
It is the first time that a male suspect has allegedly disguised himself as a Muslim woman in Britain. However, the tactic has been used frequently by Islamist fighters — including suicide bombers — in Iraq and Afghanistan. Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the former leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq, often dressed in a burka to evade American forces hunting him.
Counter-terrorist agencies in Britain and Europe have long been concerned about the readiness of male Islamist terrorists to wear female clothing.
The issue of people hiding their faces under the burka, which covers the whole face, or behind the niqab, which exposes only the eyes, has also posed difficulties for banks, immigration authorities and benefit offices. But questions of security have tended to be overruled by the need to maintain good community relations.
Shahid Malik, Labour MP for Dewsbury, expressed concern that the issue could create unnecessary tension. “If this is true, then it is the first case of its kind in Britain and an isolated incident. We must not get hysterical about it. There have been many hundreds of cases where robberies have been committed by men wearing women’s stockings on their heads — but no one is talking about banning stockings.
“The important thing is that the police and the security services should feel comfortable and confident about stopping anyone who they have suspicions about, whatever they are wearing.”
Speaking on the BBC, John Prescott, the Deputy Prime Minister, said: “I fear sometimes people might use it in a more prejudiced way and I am concerned it may damage relations rather than improve them.”
He added that he would not follow Mr Straw’s practice of asking Muslim women in constituency meetings to uncover their faces.
Patricia Hewitt, the Health Secretary, also disagreed with Mr Straw’s stance. She said that in the past she had regarded the veil as a symbol of women’s oppression, but changed her mind after a meeting with a Muslim woman in her constituency. “She’d made the decision — not her parents or anybody else — that she wanted, as part of her statement of her faith, to wear the veil.”
However, Mr Straw was backed by Phil Woolas, the minister responsible for community cohesion, race and faith, whose Oldham constituency contains a large Muslim population. Writing in the Sunday Mirror, he said: “Most British-born Muslims who wear it do so as an assertion of their identity and religion. This can create fear and resentment among non-Muslims and lead to discrimination. Muslims then become even more determined to assert their identity, and so it becomes a vicious circle where the only beneficiaries are racists like the BNP.”
Anila Baig, a columnist on The Sun newspaper, reported that at Leeds-Bradford airport no member of security had asked her to remove her niqab to check her identity against her passport picture.
Muslim organisations have complained about receiving hate mail since Mr Straw referred to the veil as “a visible statement of separation” in his local newspaper. A spokesman for The Muslim Safety Forum said that there had been an increase in attacks against Muslims, and added: “We are concerned that Jack Straw’s comments will be picked up by certain elements of the community who want to spread Islamophobia.” |

It's not the men, it's the women who are the main players in this veil antic. If you live in a western country, where veiling is not compulsory, you will notice that it is mostly unattractive women who veil. They then pressure the attractive women to wear them by "normalising" it, helped along by naive western "human rights" supporters. They even had a stupid "headscarf day" here some years ago, where we were urged to all put on headscarves to "support" these fanatics. It seems to have gone by the wayside, thankfullly, as more people become aware of the psychology of the veil.
I think muslim women are their own worst enemies, as I said in my other post. It's not the men who want them to cover; it's the women in 9/10 cases. In fact, when I converted to Islam, the first thing my muslim husband said was; "don't you dare wear any veil!"

I must admit I am getting sick to back teeth of this bullshi#. veiling is not compulsory, read there koran before you open your mouth.
Qur’an 33:59“Prophet! Tell your wives and daughters and all Muslim women to draw cloaks and veils all over their bodies (screening themselves completely except for one or two eyes to see the way). That will be better.”
Both Muslims and apologists seem to happily ignore this verse or are ignorant of it. There is compulsion to cover like their is compulsion tin Islam.
I fail to see why anyone even debates with muslims anymore, we have seen countless times Muslims cannot be reasoned with, and cannot think rationally. If they do they become apostates period. And any cult/religion whatever that claims 50% of the population (women) are subservient to the other 50% need to look at the history of the women's sufferage movement and thewir struggle for emancipation and release from dependancy on men. Those women argued the case for womens equality better than we ever could. _________________ SHAKIR 5:051: O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people. |

According to many Muslims, women should cover up their hair because to display their beauty in public would attract and arouse men, possibly leading to sexual crime committed on them.

Women should cover up their whole bodies, nothing should be shown, not even the face or hands:

Forget about Allah!! You should know by now--Allah is a "False Prophet"--responsible for killing millions of your own people--not to mention all the non-believers--down through the centuries!!
Be Happy--Live a Little--Quit Killing of the Innocents--Dress your women in mini skirts and heels--let us non-believers see some skin!!
This picture is worth a thousand words to a Muslim!! |
