We're currently testing a fix for the search script that will stop the kind of DoS attack we saw on Friday. If this works out then we'll be installing it within the next two days.
We understand that it's an inconvenience not having the search feature available. (I hear it from M every day! ) However, the alternative was to leave the forum closed until the problem could be addressed, which would probably have been much worse.
Please try to be patient a little longer. |

Hello manohar.
Back in May we had to disable ALL search functions as a result of an exploit which was being used in a denial-of-service attack against the server. Since then, we have implemented an effective deterrent to this type of DoS attack by enforcing a search flood interval (you have to wait at least 30 seconds between searches), and only permitting logged in members to use the search facility.
We've recently had to disable keyword searches. This is because the forum's search tables in the database have become so large that a relatively simple search can tie up the database manager for several minutes, effectively crippling the server. This only affects searches by keyword, since these use the search tables to match the keyword to forum posts. Other types of searches, such as search by author, search for new posts, search for your own posts, will still work normally - these don't use the search tables.
If you want to search for Yohan's posts just click on the "Profile" link under one of his posts, and then click on "Find all posts by Yohan". |

I knew that method even before I learnt to use search feature,I also recollect the possibility that I had only to search those in the 'Comments on Breaking News section' most possibly very near to my joining date on this forum, but that guy is too exhaustive with respect to the number of posts he has. _________________ Asatoma sadgamaya,

Since successive pages are a multiple of 15, I suggest somebody could get
posts corresponding to the time /period of my joining date by taking appropriate values of multiples of 15 such as say 90,150,etc one may be able to find that post, after using the above link. _________________ Asatoma sadgamaya,

One need not actually type all of it on the link space and press enter. You could just use the preview feature of your PMs or ordinary posts. _________________ Asatoma sadgamaya,
