I am not an atheist! Read my post.

islam was a dominant force upto the middle ages. muslims contributed a lot to the civilization upon that time. the current civilization you have is not built on "freedom" as you like to state always, but by english colonialisation, killing and torturing the natives, taking their land, forcing the natives to buy their own product etc. etc.

Islam has done NOTHING for over 1000 years! The conquered peoples are who made Islam great—not Muslims.

Our current civilization is built upon Greek democracy and the rule of law. Every nation on earth seeks to emulate American democracy.

Why the Hell are you here?

Don't speak of colonization and torturing natives when Muslims and Islam have killed and tortured more than other conquerers. Read the history of Islam and al Tabari and learn about the horrors of Islam. The MILLIONS Muslims murdered in the name of ther allahaha.

So far you have answered no questions.

Tell us, why is an Islamic imperial empire OK —while an American cultural hegemony is not? Why can Islam conquer by the sword, behead hundreds of thousands of people, enslave their women and children? Why is that OK?

Islam is committing genocide in Sudan TODAY! Why is that OK?

Islam came out of Arabia with the sword and conquered the world with violence. Why is that OK?

Because that violence is commanded in the Qur'an?

tell me why are you in usa?

tell me why did british invaded the rest of the world and captured their riches?

tell me am i wrong when i say two third of europeans were illiterate 400 years ago?

oh well greek democracy have made you rich not the huge natural resources you occupied from indians

that must be one of the biggest jokes i have heard. the brits or the flag bearers of western civilization never did anything good for the country they occupied, when they were finally forced to leave they virtually left those countries in ruins. compare to the islamic occupation, lots of good establishments, india was most prosperous under the mughal rules. and under english rule they were turned into beggers.

Are Muslims on the same planet with the rest of us? This is the 21st century! Why are 800 MILLION Muslims illiterate? Why are 85% of those women? Why don't Muslims educate their peoples instead of spending BILLIONS of dollars on Islamic terror?

that is a valid accusation....... yet islam is the only religion which makes education mandatory not only for men but women as well.

Aw—Why won't Islam give back all the riches that it took from the Syrians, the Persians, the Byzantines and so on?

what riches they have taken from them?? on the other hand americans are still living and enjoying red indians riches. british and the whole europe are still enjoying the benefits of colonialisation,

if you had the least bit of shame you would not even bring that topic in, but ... ah well .......

Actually, there are many nations blessed with natural resources and yet fail to become rich countries. Look at many nations that are blessed with oil and yet fail to be rich. Some African nations are blessed with diamond and precious metals and fail to be prosperous. And there are many countries with less natural resources that managed to be developed countries, for example, Japan. Much of it has something to do with governance, and usually, dictatorship governments fail their people since the first and second things they do is to get power and riches at the expense of the people and the people can't vote them out.

No Yusuf, you are wrong. Hong Kong is a former British colony that was decolonized and its sovereignty returned to China in 1997. A recent survey revealed that more than half of its population wished the British never left, which significantly outnumbering those who were happy with the new government.

Since the British left Hong Kong, its economy gradually deteriorated and people's freedom was slowly taken away. It became increasingly apparent that the new government couldn't measure up to the British in every aspect. Over time, more and more people began to miss the good old days when the Briish actually gave them more freedom and stability.

The British did commit atrocities in some of the colonies they ruled, but when they left, they left behind a solid system of bureaucracy, infrastructure and education system for the newly independent former colonies to build on. Malaya (now Malaysia) is one example. Indian railway owes much to the British. India and Pakistan were at par to each other when they got their independence. Today India got Bangalore (India's own silicon valley) while Pakistan is stifled with sectarian violence all in the name of Islam..notably the Sunnis versus the Shiites and all against the Ahamdiyas. Malaysia (60% Muslims) owes much to the non-Muslims immigrants - Indian and Chinese. Singapore is probably one of the most sucessful former British colony.

In Malaysia today, the British colonists bogeymen are often resurrected to be the scapegoat of the Muslims failure. Those who are familiar with Malaysian politics will find that invariably, it will be the Malaysian Muslim politicians and not the non-Muslim Malaysian Indian or Chinese politicians who will blame the British colonists for the Muslims' shortcomings and inability to economically compete with the non-Muslims.

The UNDP 2002 http://www.undp.org/rbas/ahdr/english.html
http://www.meforum.org/article/513
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/2082872.stm

(prepared by Arabs Muslims experts) revealed that the GDP [Gross Domestic Product] in all Arab countries combined stood at $531.2 billion in 1999, less than that of a single middle-size European country, Spain, ($595.5 billion). .

Other facts revealed by the report:
The figures for translated books are discouraging. The Arab world translates about 330 books annually, one fifth of the number that Greece translates.

Out of seven world regions, the Arab countries had the lowest freedom score in the late 1990s [in the rankings of Freedom House]. The low level of freedom in the Arab region is confirmed by a set of indicators of "voice and accountability" derived from another international database. This set includes a number of indicators measuring various aspects of the political process, civil liberties, political rights, and independence of the media. The Arab region also has the lowest value of all regions of the world for voice and accountability.

Women also suffer from unequal citizenship and legal entitlements, often evident in voting rights and legal codes. The utilization of Arab women's capabilities through political and economic participation remains the lowest in the world in quantitative terms, as evidenced by the very low share of women in parliaments, cabinets, and the work force and in the trend towards the feminization of unemployment.

The proportion of women in Arab parliaments is low. According to UNDP, women occupy 3.5 per cent of all seats in parliaments of Arab countries compared to 4.2 per cent in East Asia (excluding China), 11.0 per cent in sub-Saharan Africa, 12.7 per cent in South-East Asia and the Pacific, 12.9 percent in Latin American and Caribbean countries, and 21.2 per cent in East Asia (including China).

51% of older adolescents interviewed expressed a desire to emigrate

I believe there are two things that the Arab countries out produce the rest of the world and they are oil and terrorists.

Malaysian former Prime Minister, Dr. Mahathir in his address to OIC 2003 called for the study of science and technology among the OIC members. This call to acquire and develop modern science and technology is not for the betterment of humanity, rather the goal for the pursuit of excellence in science and technology is to enable them to destroy Israel. And this is coming from the head of a so called moderate Islamic nation. It is amazing that they stil can tell it with a straight face that Islam is a religion of peace.

Ugh, I'm so sick of Muslim men saying that Western women are whores and blah-blah-blah. ALL of my Muslim guy friends say that it is MUCH, MUCH easier to find a Muslim "lady" to f*** in Lebanon or Morocco than, say, the US. Hah, one of my friends told me there's a park in his country where all the people go to f*** at night during Ramadan! Because, he says, after all that fasting and abstinence, you sure work up a hearty appetite during the eveing... And don't even get me started on the whole butt thing, please!!! In fact, all of the Muslim guys I know say that they would never, ever marry a woman from their country because they are such s**ts and so dishonest and money-grubbing: only looking for a rich man to marry because they want to sit around on their a** and pop out a bunch of kids and not even take care of them anyway- they can hire a pre-pubescent maid really cheap for that!

About being a woman in a Muslim country, would you rather...

* be abused in the US by your husband and go file a complaint, get a restraining order and get the heck outta there, or

* be abused in Jordan (by your own son, who thinks of you as less of a human being than himself because you are a man) and have your family that it's your fault because you burned the rice, or that it's God's will?

* be raped by a stranger on the street in the US and go to a hospital to get an evidentiary exam, file a complaint with the police and go to court to get the guy put away, or

* be raped by a stranger on the street in Lebanon and tell nobody because if you did, you would be held in jail "for your own good," where you would be raped repeatedly by your jailers, and when you finally did get home, your brother would kill you because you had dishonored your family?

Hi, welcome to my angriest post ever.

I was thinking about your last line... after some of my posts today.

What are healthy ways to release the frustration (anger?) over the
insane people with violent intentions... in the world?

... and, no... I will not *pray* for them.

Stand up and tell your fellow citizens the truth about islam in simple and plain language. Deny any air of respectability to the Quran and Muhammad.

Thank you for exposing what kind of debater you are. Instead of refuting the information that I presented - for example the the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) report, you resort to baseless ad hominem. You have displayed a lack of basic intellectual honesty that demands that you explain the reason or reasons for your ad hominem. The Arab Human Development Report 2002 was the work of Arab specialists, not outsiders with the hope that this feature will make the report's findings more acceptable to the Arab leadership, both in diagnosis and prescriptions. Obvoiusly where you as a Muslim is concerned, the only value the report has is to expose your inability to accept constructive criticism, your inability to debate and your intellectual dishonesty.

I have provided for you the links where the 2002 Arab UNDP was reported. It is incredulous that you should dismiss this recent report as rubbish, but accept the Koran and hadiths that was written decades after Mohammed's death as 100% truths. But this is again symptomatic of a person's deficiency in intellectual dishonesty or inability to face facts.

I challenge you to dispute whatever facts or personal oipinions that I have presented. In case you think I concocted Mahathir's 2003 OIC summit address here's some extract from the entire speech that is posted at the official OIC website:
http://www.oicsummit2003.org.my/speech_03.php

Quote:
24. We are now 1.3 billion strong. We have the biggest oil reserve in the world. We have great wealth. We are not as ignorant as the Jahilliah who embraced Islam. We are familiar with the workings of the world's economy and finances. We control 57 out of the 180 countries in the world. Our votes can make or break international organisations. Yet we seem more helpless than the small number of Jahilliah converts who accepted the Prophet as their leader. Why? Is it because of Allah's will or is it because we have interpreted our religion wrongly, or failed to abide by the correct teachings of our religion, or done the wrong things?

34. It cannot be that there is no other way. 1.3 billion Muslims cannot be defeated by a few million Jews. There must be a way. And we can only find a way if we stop to think, to assess our weaknesses and our strength, to plan, to strategise and then to counter attack. As Muslims we must seek guidance from the Al-Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet. Surely the 23 years' struggle of the Prophet can provide us with some guidance as to what we can and should do.

38. It is surety time that we pause to think. But will this be wasting time? For well over half a century we have fought over Palestine. What have we achieved? Nothing. We are worse off than before. If we had paused to think then we could have devised a plan, a strategy that can win us final victory. Pausing and thinking calmly is not a waste of time. We have a need to make a strategic retreat and to calmly assess our situation.

39. We are actually very strong. 1.3 billion people cannot be simply wiped out. The Europeans killed 6 million Jews out of 12 million. But today the Jews rule this world by proxy. They get others to fight and die for them.

25. We are enjoined by our religion to prepare for the defence of the ummah. Unfortunately we stress not defence but the weapons of the time of the Prophet. Those weapons and horses cannot help to defend us any more. We need guns and rockets, bombs and warplanes, tanks and warships for our defence. But because we discouraged the learning of science and mathematics etc. as giving no merit for the akhirat, today we have no capacity to produce our own weapons for our defence. We have to buy our weapons from our detractors and enemies. This is what comes from the superficial interpretation of the Quran, stressing not the substance of the Prophet's sunnah and the Quran's injunctions but rather the form, the manner and the means used in the 1st Century of the Hijrah. And it is the same with the other teachings of Islam. We are more concerned with the forms rather than the substance of the words of Allah and adhering only to the literal interpretation of the traditions of the Prophet.

Are the statements concerning the railway being a British legacy to India myths? Here's a link and some extracts from an Indian tourism website:
http://www.tourismofindia.com/exi/britishlegacy.htm

Quote:
The Indian railway system, one of the most extensive in the world, is a legacy of the British Raj..

.........rail travel was possible by 1864. Journey that had once taken months and were fraught with both man-made and natural hazards, now were a matter of days.

The British came as traders and continued as conquerors and after conquering the land and its people, they continued to trade. It is thus fitting that amongst the mouments they built and which still remain today are railway stations of architectural splendour and magnificence unrivalled anywhere else in the world.

and from: http://users.breathe.com/pwa/borht/
Quote:
Those railways brought economic growth and political stability to the countries in which they were built. Edwin Arnold in 1865 said, "Railways may do for India what dynasties have never done... they may make India a nation" and they did.

Here's some links and extract concerning the British legacy to Malaysians:
http://www.malaysiatrulyasia.co.uk/about_malaysia/history.html

Quote:
The British influence on Malaysia was profound with effects still seen today. The UK was responsible for the creation of the plantation system and commercialisation of agriculture, the framework for the present-day transportation system, the introduction of English and an educational system, multiracialism and modern political institutions.

http://www.iht.com/IHT/SR/020998/sr020998i.html
Quote:
But in terms of its overall educational system, Malaysia has a head start. Unlike many of its neighbors, the country's educational resources are liberally distributed in the countryside, a legacy of the British colonial days. Literacy is nearly 90 percent and major newspapers carry weekly education sections
.

I do not dispute that the British colonialism was imperialistic and have proven like all imperialism/colonialism to be an exploitation of the colonies. However, in the big picture especially after the colonies gained independence, one can see, where the British are concerned in Asia, the civil administration system, infrastructure, educational and legal systems are the benign and bonus side of the legacy of British colonialism. I am not so familiar with British colonialism in Africa and I believe they really screwed it up in the middle east although when I was in Jordan, the Jordanians seem to be happy with what the British did for them.

Under Islamic hudud laws (Islamic penal code) that Muslims consider as being Allah's perfect and sacrosanct laws, the testimonies of Muslim women is not valid. For non-hudud cases, the testimony of a Muslim woman is worth half of that of a Muslim man. Non-Muslims, whether male or female, cannot testify against Muslims in Shariah courts.

It is so evident that Muslim (leave aside non-Muslim) women’s inferior legal status is gross injustice and yet Muslims will continue to accept what the male dominated mullahs tell them – that Allah’s laws are perfect and just.

As for the sexist treatment of women, presently, no particular culture has a monopoly of male sexist chauvinism. In the west, the female charms are been exploited in advertisements and entertainment. Needless to say the male charms are also being similarly exploited (although men do see it in that way) in advertisements and the entertainment industry. While in the west the “exploited” people has a choice - that is, they can choose not to work for a particular advertisement or entertainment field, sexism in the Arab/Muslim world are legalized and promoted both in the legal and spiritual realm. Polygamy is legalized. The women’s inferior legal status as explained above is legalized. Promotion of sex (disproportionately in the males’ advantage) in the Muslim spiritual realm are supported by the Koran and hadiths.

Quote:
“Therein (Gardens) will be Khayraatun Hisaan [fair (wives) good and beautiful];
Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinn and men) deny?
Hoor (beautiful, fair females) guarded in pavilions;
Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinn and men) deny?
With whom no man or jinni has had Tamth [opening their hymens with sexual intercourse] before them.
Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinn and men) deny?
Reclining on green cushions and rich beautiful mattresses.”
[al-Rahmaan 55:70-76]

Quote:
It was narrated from Anas (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The believer in Paradise will be given such and such strength for sexual intercourse.” He was asked, “O Messenger of Allaah, will he really be able to do that?” He said, “He will be given the strength of one hundred (men).” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, no. 2459. He said, (it is) saheeh ghareeb
).

The following question was posted to the Islamic Q &A website http://63.175.194.25/index.php?ln=eng&ds=qa&lv=browse&QR=25843&dgn=4
and answered by an Islamic lecturer and author.

Quote:
What happens in paradise, with a couple who have been married? I have heard that the wife will be with her husband, but that the husband will in addition to her, have 70 women (hoors) at his service.
This to me does not seem like a fair concept for the women, to share their husbands in this way.

The answer given will be an eye opener to those who are unfamiliar with the apologetics and methodology of treating questions concerning the unfair treatment of Muslim women.

Rape and pillage were the norm of Muslim and non-Muslims conquests. However Islam added the spiritual realm to it. It was a credit to Mohammed’s evil genius as a shrewd military commander to concoct the rewards of paradise virgins as Allah’s rewards for martyrs and used it as a recruiting tool and to allay the fears of any warrior of their loss in the share of booty and females to rape, capture and enslave should they die in battle. The hadiths which were compiled much later, suggest that Mohammed’s military successors adopted and elaborated more on this recruitment scheme.

As true disciples of Mohammed, Islamic terrorists groups today are still exploiting sex to recruit Muslims for terrorism.

The imam told him that, as a Muslim, Ali was part of a brotherhood that stretched back hundreds of years. He had an important role to play in the world, one that would bring prestige and glory. There were 70 (Nic: actually it is 72) virgins waiting for him in a promised land, a paradise just for him.

if you are an atheist, there is nothing much i can tell you , thats why i gave the analogy of a poor man. since you have nothing, you have nothing to defend.

But of course we have something to defend: the liberty of not having to bow to a ridiculous illusion. You have everything to gain: that same liberty.

islam was a dominant force upto the middle ages. muslims contributed a lot to the civilization upon that time. the current civilization you have is not built on "freedom" as you like to state always, but by english colonialisation, killing and torturing the natives, taking their land, forcing the natives to buy their own product etc. etc.

Ah! You mean European Imperialism of the 18th, 19th en 20th centurty. Well, nothing to be proud of because it went at the cost of millions of others. Like what happened when the Muslims conquered their empire at the cost others. Go preach the blessings of Islamic occupation of India in the past millennium. Preferably do it in the centre of New Delhi and see how long you stand there before the first "grateful" Hindu, remembering the virtues of that occupation, starts to bang his fist on your teeth.

Freedom in the west is freedom to live the life as you want, within the boundaries of economy as it is. That freedom is typical for the west and Muslims can only be jealous at it. Because it permits Muslims to built mosques in Rome, while Christians are not allowed to build churches in Arabia.
And it is typical for the Muslim to think that it is normal for them to built mosques in Rome while it is also normal for them that no church may get built in Arabia. It is how his Muslim world view works: all for Us, nothing for the Other.
