Miss ruby, do you really think that quieting the inquistive brain is that easy? The cult practises of prayer 5 times a day only works when there is no doubt in the back of one's mind. In the presence of doubt, all the rituals become a source of excersizing the doubt. You will have to answer those doubts in ways that you can believe.

What is your reasoning for this? Surely you are not having doubts about your faith, again?

I can understand the temptation to have a holiday, as a forum like this can be very engaging and time-consuming. But try to stay and argue against the attitudes you don't like. You know there are "moderates" such as myself who will support you if you are unfairly attacked.

(even though the "brave" and "wise" Samurai Jack says that my attitudes are those of an idiot and a coward!)

I don't like having to try to balance extremes. Without moderate Muslims, there will be no middle ground, and the only Muslims we will get will be the trolls. And when trolls make their presence known, everyone else gets hostile and reactive.

FFI is having a crisis at present, it seems, with many of our steady and stable posters leaving. I haven't heard from WhammyAthame for a while, and hope she hasn't been put off by the "moralising".

I really think you need to reconsider your decision to leave.

Ruby, I am sure you will be missed. Observing you in this short time, you live a better life than most muslim ladies. You said you were not religious and till marriage and became only after you got married. so you have a good chance of seeing yourself away from islam.

but again it would be difficult coz you love your husband and he is devout muslim. hard choices infront of you ruby. but seldom i disliked your posts. on the other hand you were totally good to have in the forum because your brought up was different from other people here I guess.

Does it creep anyone out that Muslims call each other brother and sister, to put social pressure upon the individual to conform.? It creeps me out when Christians and Mormons do it too.

As for you doubts in islam - - I think that god gave us the capacity for compassion and an innate sense of right and wrong to act as a "fail safe" against wrong ideas, dogma. I believe that this innate sense - God given - is the source of your doubt. No compassionate god would consign his creations to eternal torment. What would be the point? Be confident in god's mercy and grace. In the religion i respect the most, God always announces his arrival with the words"Be not afraid."
