I got all Age of Empires games, as well as Age of Mythology and its expansion pack. I also have Empire Earth (the first one) but really good thing with it is almost only that it covers so many ages, from prehistory to nano. The graphics are ugly (could been better with 2D for it perhaps...), and apart from a few bonuses, all civilizations are so similar. Same units, same building style etc. Though I must commend the game for having a really strong AI.
I got WarCraft III and The Frozen Throne too.
And I can tell you that I love the Total War games! |

Go to custom games in WC3 tft and check out Dota I am a dota master. I use to play it constantly with my partner. Non stop. I played the Naga Siren and the Lich they were sort of my favorites. _________________ "Of course I believe in evil. I work in real estate." -Edie Britt |

Ahh ok.
I've never played Dota I think? It was a long time since I played WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne and when I did, I mostly played the traditional way.
For the folks who got Rome Total War, I highly recommend you to check out the Total Realism mod to it. The game is much much greater with that mod. Once you've got used to the mod, it is impossible to return to the vanilla game. _________________ "Reason is the greatest enemy that faith has" - Martin Luther

Well, Empire Earth was made in 2001, so compared to present-day graphics they naturally look a bit rude. But I must say that I love the zoom ability; it allows you to descent right to the middle of a battle and also allows quite interesting and "artistic" screen caps. (I use them as screensavers . ) I think the worst drawback of Empire Earth is the lack of camera rotation. The map editor also has some irritating bugs, but otherwise I think it's very near to perfect with its VAST time scale and a wide range of units. Empire Earth's half-sequel Empires: Dawn of the Modern World (something between EE and EE2) has both the horizontal zoom ability and camera rotation, plus improved graphics and much clearer differences between different civilizations and practically unlimited population cap ==> HUGE armies. (Must test the pop cap thing with EE's triggers also...)
So, Firawn... if you (or anyone else) would like to play Empire Earth or Age of Empires II (or perhaps Empires or Heroes of Might and Magic III) multiplayer online, send me a message. _________________ Si vis pacem, para bellum. |

Might be that Empire Earth was made when 3D for RTS was in its infancy, but I still like the graphics of Age of Empires II much better, even though it is 2D. And as I said, I also disliked that all civs looked alike, everyone were like ancient Greeks in the Bronze Age and so on. Though I liked the cute Greek campaign in it (never finished the others).
It was years since I played Age of Empires II: The Conquerors online, though I remember that my best civ was the Goths. But if you wish, we can play Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs online. I could also play Age of Mythology: The Titans online. Perhaps even WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne, though I suck at that game. _________________ "Reason is the greatest enemy that faith has" - Martin Luther

Well, to be honest, I have never even tried those EE campaigns. The first thing I did was to create a random map with seas and islands (to include all aspects of the game) and start playing, learning in the process. (It took me a while to realize that the unit upgrades are selected from the units themselves and not some Blacksmith-type building...) I played a few scenarios of AoE II:s William Wallace and Barbarossa campaigns, but never finished them. But I've played through all the campaigns of Warcraft (I, II and III), expect for The Frozen Throne that's still in the process.

Ok... well, I don't have AoE III or AoM. But I do have The Frozen Throne, and I'm always in trouble when playing those single scenarios. What I don't like is the crappy population cap of only 90. Has it been changed? I haven't played TFT so much that I would have found it out. They closed the AoE game rooms in MSN Gaming Zone, so I haven't played AoE online (or at all) in a while either.
The time I can allocate to playing may be limited, because I have lots of studying to do. But anyway, let's see what we can do. Perhaps during christmas vacation...
Oh, and by the way, I also have Settlers: Heritage of Kings, but I haven't played it that much. I purchased it to fill the vacuum while I was desperately searching for Empire Earth II, which proved to be interesting, but a bit too tricky and complex to completely enjoy it. _________________ Si vis pacem, para bellum. |
