I am looking for verses in the Koran used to justify cutting throats and/or beheadings. I know 47:4. Any others? _________________ Do you know of any good links about Islam? Suggest them to me for the Internet Toolbox for Islam-critics, and inform me about links not working. |

Yes, Qur'an 8:12...
http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/008.012
YUSUFALI: Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instil terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them."
PICKTHAL: When thy Lord inspired the angels, (saying): I am with you. So make those who believe stand firm. I will throw fear into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Then smite the necks and smite of them each finger.
SHAKIR: When your Lord revealed to the angels: I am with you, therefore make firm those who believe. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.
I think there is a third verse in the Qur’an specifically supporting beheading. I will look for it. Beheading scripture can also be found in some of the Sahih ahadeeths. |

47:4 Therefore, when you meet the Unbelievers, strike off their heads. At length, then when you have killed most of them, carefully tie up the remaining captives. Then (is the time for) either generosity or ransom - Until the fighting is finished.
I think these two are the only unambiguous verses in the Quran. However there are many calls to 'execution' which likely refers to beheading. _________________ A voice from heaven should be ignored if it is not on the side of justice. ~ Isaac Bashevis Singer

I found this through Know Islam:

What is Islam
That is the statement at the end of a graphic post from 22 September 2004 on the Al Ansar forum by an Islamist who clearly lacks any sense of the ironic...
If viewing decapitated heads is difficult for you, don't view the rest of this entry. _________________ Do you know of any good links about Islam? Suggest them to me for the Internet Toolbox for Islam-critics, and inform me about links not working. |

I stand corrected, I was thinking there was a third clear verse. Certainly many execution type verses as you said though. |
