The turbine is a technological marvel. It has uses for both civilian and military, though those days I speak of were long gone. The turbine is also a symbol of power and advancement.
Okay...Without being metaphorical and oh-so-funny...
Once upon a time, many many many many years ago. Hundreds of years ago...Turbans were worn by those who possesed power/respect (feel free to correct me on this one). Turban was worn by many well before the term Sikh came into light.
Those who did not wear turbans either had their hair let loose behind their back/cut it etc. The turban was one way of keeping long hair, and making it convenient in a manner so your hair wouldn't go all over the place. Believe me, 2 hairs stuck in the door and you will be howling with pain like I did...
The other uses were militaristic. Turbans were adorned with various weapons (chakrams) and other blades.
Enough blades and sharp to make mince meat out of miss piggy, quick lunch! No offence intended for the pigophobiacs.
Please don't feel scared by this man, he won't do you any harm...Unless you laugh in front of his face (in which case you had it coming).
So, in the "olden days", a turban such as the one shown above served to protect the head, absorb impact, all this with the advantages of happily gauging the guts of your oponent with a simple head butt, and a limitless supply of razor sharp frizbies. _________________

These people were true martyrs in the name of god. Instead of converting they gave theirs live to the one true god for all. |
Welcome sat sri akal. The notion put forward by the guru's " One true god" in reality, doesnt exist. "God" can be " Gods" logically. Only Mohammedans and Jesusists argue to the full that there is only one " God". Not in the tradition of india. Sikhism drifted and toyed around with mohammedan idea. |
Im sorry mate but you are wrong, sikhism is about one god,
Ik oankar satinamu karta purakhu nirbhau nirvairu akal murati ajuni saibhan gurprasadi
translates to
One Universal Creator God,The Name Is Truth,Creative Being Personified,No Fear,No Hatred,Image Of
The Timeless One,Beyond Birth,Self Existent,By Guru's Grace.
(GG. Pg 1). |
There are more than one god. Sikhism is wrong and definitely blunt in identifying and differentiating between a god, gods or whatsoever with the cosmic energy. The cosmic energy is not god. But from the cosmic energy, came many god or gods or goddesses.
