With that out of the way lets look at another verse saying the earth goes around the sun: 091.001
YUSUFALI: By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour;
PICKTHAL: By the sun and his brightness,
SHAKIR: I swear by the sun and its brilliance,
Who is speaking here? It appears that Allah has demeaned himself by swearing by one of his creations. It is normal to swear by someone or something greater than oneself. Perhaps these are Muhammad`s words that have somehow crept into the Koran.
Can you explain to us who is saying those words?
sum |
What? Allah is saying these words, and hes swearing on its brilliance, the ability to give light to the whole earth in just 24 hours, and how big it is. Hes the creator, why cant he swear on his creation? |
I find it hard to imagine for a sustainer & creator of the universe to swear by anything. One swears when one is on the defensive - surely this cannot be the charecteristic of god. There are other passages where this all powerful god displays human frailty, such as 111 - "Perish the hands of the father of flame (Abu Lahab)...." If Abu Lahab & his wife pissed god off to such a degree, god could have just as easily killed them. As Ali Dashti points out, anger is a sign of weakness. _________________ From amongest us came the prophets to teach

Hi Submitter,
It appears that in some passage it Mohd who is talking and not allah. One passage admits to this:
081.019
YUSUFALI: Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger,
Could you please respond? |
Well, lets take a look at the verses:
081.019
YUSUFALI: Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger,
PICKTHAL: That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger,
SHAKIR: Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger,
081.020
YUSUFALI: Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne,
PICKTHAL: Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne,
SHAKIR: The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion,
081.021
YUSUFALI: With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust.
PICKTHAL: (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy;
SHAKIR: One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust.
He was talking about Gibreel. The one with power in the heavens. Thought you got me, didnt you? |

Wow, God doesnt get "pissed off". He was making Abou Lahab an example to everyone who strives to disprove Islam. He was saying he will perish, how is that bieng "pissed off"? Allah states many times that the dibelievers in Islam will go to hell. Whats diffrent now? Theres no sign of anger here. |

Let's not forget, when in doubt, turn to the hadiths for clarification
Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 54, Number 421
Narrated Abu Dhar:
The Prophet asked me at sunset, "Do you know where the sun goes (at the time of sunset)?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He said, "It goes (i.e. travels) till it prostrates Itself underneath the Throne and takes the permission to rise again, and it is permitted and then (a time will come when) it will be about to prostrate itself but its prostration will not be accepted, and it will ask permission to go on its course but it will not be permitted, but it will be ordered to return whence it has come and so it will rise in the west. And that is the interpretation of the Statement of Allah: "And the sun Runs its fixed course For a term (decreed). that is The Decree of (Allah) The Exalted in Might, The All-Knowing." (Q. 6: 3
Notice how this is a daily occurrence? Notice how the sun GOES somewhere? If this isn't a clear orbit around the earth, then I don't know what is. Submitter, I can't believe you would be stupid enough to raise one of the most clear embarrassments found in Islam. |
Yes, I knew someone would bring this out.
First of all, I would like to say that the Prophet PBUH has been given limited knowledge of the Quran, so he doesnt know, for example, what it means when Allah says that plants were grown in pairs, or the development of the baby.<snip> |
That's fine, but why does he give a prophesy that depends upon his limited knowledge? If he would have said his limited knowldege from his limited point of viw, then you answer would be fine. But he goes further to recite a prophecy and the prophecy has the same errant idea. The sun will return to where it came from??? It didn't go anywhere in the first place. So it's one thing for him to report his limited knowledge from his perspective, but it's another thing to make a scientifically inaccurate prophecy that is supposed to be from Allah. So your explanation is totally busted, you pathetic little inventor who could care less about the truth. So who's laughing now?? Who's finally going to put dishonest things to rest now? It's going to be ME, you pathetic little dishonest liar. It's time you shut up once and for all you pathetic little psychopath. It's time that you realize what you actually are a pethetic little psychopath and for you to even stop asking anybody to listen to your pathetic little psychotic drivelings.

ANd another man came to him. He said how he does a certain surgery on people, the Prophet PBUH told him "If you know how to do it, then do it. I do not know everything." Lets look at some hadith: |
Then why is the Profit saying a prophesy in the hadith that I raised? WHOOPS!!! You didn't even think of that did you YOU STUPID DUMMY!!! Now go put a dunce cap on your head and sit in the corner while the rest of the class laughs at you, you stupid moron. This hadîth is found in Sahîh al-Bukhârî (3199, 7424). Its text, as related by Abû Dharr al-Ghifârî, is as follows:
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to me: “O Abû Dharr! Do you know where the Sun goes when it sets?”
I said: “Allah and His Messenger know best.” |
Mmmmmm....well apparently, as we all know by now, the "supposed" messenger of Allah did NOT know best. Obviously this couldn't be any more obvious at this point. But we all know that you have clever ways devised in your mind to trick your own mind out to tell you that this fact doesn't even exist. No need to explain, we all already know. Call it "experience". You're not the first person that can lie to themselves that has come on to this board. In fact, we all think it's a basic, common attribute of the Muslim in general. Prove us wrong by being sensible. But, of course, you can't. Because if you started proving that you were sensible, you would accidentally and inevitably end up proving Islam wrong.? And we know you simply won't do that, no matter what self evident, logical truth is pointed out to you. We all know that since you are a Muslim, this disqualifies you from the category of objective, reasonable thought.

That is the determination of the Mighty the Knowing. [Sûrah YâSîn: 38]’.”
It is also found in Sahîh Muslim (159,205). Its text, as related by Abû Dharr al-Ghifârî, is as follows:
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said one day: “Do you know where the Sun goes when it sets?”
They said: “Allah and His Messenger know best.”
He said: “It goes until it arrives at its place of settlement beneath the Throne. Then it falls down in prostration and remains like that until it is said to it: ‘Arise! Go back from whence you came.’ Then it goes back and rises from its place of rising. Then it goes until it arrives at its place of settlement beneath the Throne. Then it falls down in prostration and remains like that until it is said to it: ‘Arise! Go back from whence you came.’ Then it goes back and rises from its place of rising. Then it goes without people finding anything wrong with it until it arrives at that place of settlement it has beneath the throne. Then it will be told: ‘Arise! Enter upon the morning rising from your setting place’.”
Then Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said: “Do you know when that will be? It will be when ‘its faith will not avail a soul which had not believed before or earned some good from its faith. [Sûrah al-An`âm: 157]’.” |
Wow, thanks for adding insult to injury. Are you feeling OK?? I don't know why someone would self flagellated themselves or their point of discussion, but apparently you DO know why. I suppose it's one of the many mysteries as to why Muslims do the things that they do that I am slowly figuring out one piece at a time.

And that 's even worse. You keep digging the hole deeper, but you are correct and being totally honest. It did INDEED see the earth as flat, but saw the sun as doing a circle or orbit around the earth because the sun doesn't go flat around the sky, it seems to do it in a circle. The sun doesn't appear to travel flat across the sky, but rather in a dome like rounded arch. What part of the Flintstone's explanation of the Quran don't you understand??
Why do you refuse to understand it?? Is it because it's simply too painful? That's the only explanation that I can think of, and if that's the truth, then I'm sorry because I know it must be painful. But it's still there, staring at you in the face, regardless of what you choose to invent for yourself.
[quote="A_submitter"]

What doews the sun's movement have to do with the earth's spinning?
| A_submitter wrote: |
So what did the Prophet go by? Lets take a look at the following verse:
Seest thou not that to God bow down in worship all things that are in the heavens and on earth,- the sun, the moon, the stars; the hills, the trees, the animals; and a great number among mankind? But a great number are (also) such as are fit for Punishment: and such as God shall disgrace,- None can raise to honour: for God carries out all that He wills. (The Noble Quran, 22:1 "
"They say: "God hath begotten a son" :Glory be to Him.-Nay, to Him belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth: everything renders worship to Him. (The Noble Quran, 2:116)"
"To God do belong the unseen (secrets) of the heavens and the earth, and to Him goeth back every affair (for decision): then worship Him, and put thy trust in Him: and thy Lord is not unmindful of aught that ye do. (The Noble Quran, 11:123)"
So, he was going by the Quran, that the sun goes into prostration to him. Lets take a look at another hadith. The hadîth is also found in Sahîh al-Bukhârî in a highly abridged form (4803, 7433). Its text reads:
I asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) about Allah’s statement: “And the Sun runs on to its place of settlement... [Sûrah YâSîn: 38]”.
He said: “Its place of settlement is beneath the throne (of Allah Almighty).”
This hadith basically proves that Muhammed PBUH was going by the Quran, and was just praising Allah. |
If the sun orbits the galaxy, then tell me how and why it stops every night when it prostrates to wait for permission to start moving again. Come on bright boy. Let's hear it.

I'm almost hesitant to even ask this question because i couldn't be more sure that the answer is either going to make me laugh hysterically over the foolishness of the answer, or make me cry over the foolishness of the answer. Honestly, what is the matter with you people? What is the disease that eats at your brain? What can we do for you? [b]How can someone help a Flintstone in the 21st century? Please tell us how and we will try our best.{/b] |
I think you have unresolved issues you need to see a doctor for. Did your classmates ever laugh at you? Its okay, you can tell me. |

Thanks for merely parroting back at me what I said about you and telling everybody that you think this is a suitable response because you don't have a real answer. Read what I said in detail, you silly clown. I can't decide whether you are a TeleTubby, or a Sesame Street character, due to your childishness or a Flinstone due to your ancient mindset.
Again, what is the matter with you. What eats at your head? Do you revel in running around like a clueless bearded paper doll?? _________________ Somebody get me a hairdryer

Your quote -
With that out of the way lets look at another verse saying the earth goes around the sun: 091.001
YUSUFALI: By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour;
Why does Allah have to swear by or on anything? Isn't that what humans commonly do? Why would Allah have to do that? At most, he would swear by himself, not an element of his creation. Why would Allah swear on something lesser than him?

I find it hard to imagine for a sustainer & creator of the universe to swear by anything. One swears when one is on the defensive - surely this cannot be the charecteristic of god. There are other passages where this all powerful god displays human frailty, such as 111 - "Perish the hands of the father of flame (Abu Lahab)...." If Abu Lahab & his wife pissed god off to such a degree, god could have just as easily killed them. As Ali Dashti points out, anger is a sign of weakness. |
Allah shows clear contempt for Abu Lahab and his wife. Its like telling someone "I hate you...". Here allah is having a bout of temper tantrum.
Also, this entire sura are words of Mohd. Allah the omnipotent controller of the infinite universe takes offense with Abu Lahab for saying to Mohd - "Prerish you Mohammad!! Did you invite us here for this? And then like a thunderbolt 111 came down, nor was his wife spared allah's wrath. There is no example being made of anyone as you claim. _________________ From amongest us came the prophets to teach

Firstly, I cant get right to you when you make a comment, so be patient. Im busy alot, and I will get back to.
I see on the main forum that someone is claiming that the Quran says the sun revolves around earth. Lets take a closer look.
036.040
It is not permitted to the Sun to catch up the Moon, nor can the Night outstrip the Day: Each (just) swims along in (its own) orbit (according to Law).

A_submitter,
what does it mean by the moon following the sun? _________________ Ratio of Men to Women in Islamic heaven - 1:72
