as an ex- muslim, watching this 1970's sword 'n' sandal travesty was a rite of passage in my house.

in retrospect, this flick was an obvious model for 'the life of brian' . no mohammad! your not the messiah. your a very naughty boy.

oh how they laughed. before they we're executed.

most importantly, there was Bilal. the Prophet's wisecracking black sidekick. is it true that he was played by a young eddie murphy? can anyone confirm this?

Bilal's oft repeated catchphrase- ' its time for the call to prayer? get the f**k outta here! ' seems to suggest the answer to my query ...

Did he use the same voice he does in Shrek?
Think about it in the first film “I’m a flying talking donkey”.

Is it the one Mo’ supposedly flew to Jerusalem on?

Oh, please, that is so unfair to the poor neighbourhood-ogre! Shrek only wants his swamp, his princess and his peace! All would be well, if the same could be said of Muhammad.

a fair point , princess.

on a different tack. as a dweller of middle earth be aware that some muslims (including a pesonal friend) seriously argue that the goodies in LOTR 'represent' the forces of islam.

The Dark Lord and all his munchkins = anyone against islam.

i blame Peter Jackson's Beard.

it only encourages them.

You could point out to your friends, that it is the "men of the west" Aragorn appeals to when they go to battle before the black gate- and they carry the day!
Actually, I think the "southrons" that come to Sauron´s help are quite obviously arab-looking (unntentionally, I am sure).
To me it was always very obvious, that Sauron, the dark Lord, is Muhammad/Allah - he only has slaves.

'men of the west'- a good point i made also. her 'argument' was that frodo and the rest were kinda primitive, simple folk like muslims are..

in Islamologic up is down, black is white and wittgenstein is a foreigner with a funny name.
