Florida Church will host “Burn a Quran Day” on Sept 11
The Dove World Outreach Center, a Florida Church has announced on its website and Facebook Page of a plan to burn Quran on Sept 11.
The burning will be held on the church ground “in remembrance of the fallen victims of 9/11 and to stand against the evil of Islam. Islam is of the devil!”
In response, CAIR (The Council on American-Islamic Relations) is planning to observe “Share the Quran” day in the month of Ramadan.
According to the organizers of this noble project, many Facebook readers have sent Quran to the church.

That apparantly is one stupid church. Instead of burning a qur'an how about doing something more productive like reading what is wrong in the qur'an to muslims and why its such a piece of garbage. Burning won't show muslims the truth about Islam, its just and instigative move with no real substance except to make muslims even more hard headed to listening to "christians" or other religions. If they were athiests it wouldn't be a problem, because they are not religiously attached to anything.
Finally people are finding the balls to confront Islam head on. It 'll be interesting to see what the muslims will do? I have a feeling this gonna be a very hot situation. Hope all the anti muslim supporters all round america are ready to face roiting muslims mobs.

I agree with TruePeace. Buring the Quran will serve no purpose. It will be much more useful if the church publishes an edition of Quran in which all the intolerant and hateful teachings are highlighted in bold print, and distributes them free of cost to muslims and non-muslims alike. When these verses of quran are quoted, muslim always accuse that they being quoted out of context. This way, everyone can verify what the context it. Let the common people be aware to the teachings of Quran.

I think it's an insulting practice against all Moslems. Moslems cannot be blamed for being born in this religion and therefore more than 900 millions of them who cannot read or understand the Arabic Quran will be insulted and provoked into retaliation against Moslems all over the world. Burning the Qurans by a church in Florida is an example of responding to hate by hate. This practice has drawn very angry responses from Islamic public all over the world. And frankly I think this is a dumb idea because it is a gratuitous offence.
However, that does not give Moslems any right to respond to that "offence" with violence.
The trouble with tip-toeing around Muslim sensibilities (much as the West in general does anyway) is that we allow Islam to hold hostage all the non-Muslim minorities in the Moslem Countries and us for our behaviour as good little dhimmis.
The pointless part of this is given the plenitude of Friday hate-preach from the mosques, those minorities are going to be persecuted anyway on some pretext or another, so how much difference does it make?

That may be true in the "East", but in the West murder-bombers are often quite educated. Here in the UK one of the 7/7 bombers was a teaching Assistant, the Glasgow attack was carried out by two DOCTORS no less (so much for their Medical vows!), so ignorance and illiteracy are not the reasons Moslems are drawn into violence, but (as you also say) the teachings of Islam itself.

In Egypt very prominent Egyptian intellectuals who expressed opinions were killed , threatened and many of them ended up in jail. Majority of people on this planet believe or wish to find God.. Of the 7 Billion on the planet a great deal relate to a God… What seems to happen is this thirst for God that is being manipulated.. Understanding that this thirst for God is the driver, means that maybe we should focus on teaching about a path to God!.. and question some of the current violent actions and its relevance to a God.

Who said that koran is a holy book. It is the hand book for perverts written by a pervert. The question is how can a holy book call for the killing of innocent non-believers instead advising its followers to convert non-believers by peace and love, most of the holy scriptures i know do not allow old men to marry under age girls but the koran does these are just a couple of examples from the verses of the koran there are many more that allow muslims to do vile things that are not acceptable by normal society.

I would not disagree with a single word you wrote and I will allow that a degree of "cultural sensitivity" is required ("different environments affect our citerias in evaluating certain behavior").
Neither am I in favour of any book burning on pronciple – that's always been a tool of the Totalitarians of all stripes (from Communist to Fascist and all shades in between).
That said, I am not prepared to tolerate the cultural relativity that (effectively) says "we mustn't judge xxx for committing murder, it's just cultural differences" (that is an over-blunt way to put it perhaps).
I suppose that for me the problem is twofold:
1. Minorities in Moslem Countries are invariably treated as second class citizens at best and fodder on which to vent violence and anger of all types at worst.
2. Not "offending" Muslims is nigh on impossible. You can't say/write/do anything that is remotely "rude" about Mo or the Koran without giving "offence". You can't offer literary criticism of the Koran without giving "offence". You can't have non-Sharia-compliant banks,laws, governance etc without giving "offence" (to some at least), so how do I avoid giving this thing called "offence" to (some) Muslims when it seems that my very existence as non-dhimmi "Kaffir" is offensive?

I don't remember the verses, but I think we are all agree, books containing the following evil things should be burned :
If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives.
A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death.
All who curse their father or mother must be put to death. They are guilty of a capital offense.
If a man commits adultery with another man's wife, both the man and the woman must be put to death.
A priest's daughter who loses her honor by committing fornication and thereby dishonors her father also, shall be burned to death.
Whoever sacrifices to any god, except the Lord alone, shall be doomed.

No one would win in such a huge and colossal war when it involves hundreds of millions of combatants. What would be the price of victory? Hundreds of millions? Is it prudent to start such devastating war? Will victory end Islam? If you believe in that then you are far away from reality. The decision on such a war does not involve courage or cowardice, but wisdom versus ignorance. The devastating retaliation by Moslems or non-Moslems against the other is a tragedy that could not be fathomed because of the huge proportion in human tragedy. Humanity should do everything possible before getting involved in such a devastating human tragedy. In the minds of the combatants both fighting groups believe that they are doing what is right, therefore these issues should be resolved on a peace table and not on the battle field.
