We recognized the threat of Communism once; why can’t we recognize Islam as our enemy?

In the federal government, President Harry Truman's Executive Order 9835 initiated a program of loyalty reviews for federal employees in 1947. Truman's mandate called for dismissal if there were "reasonable grounds...for belief that the person involved is disloyal to the Government of the United States. Communism was considered an existential threat to the United States and the freedoms guaranteed by our constitution. The possibility of the overthrow of our government was considered real and needed to be guarded against.
When President Dwight Eisenhower took office in 1953, he strengthened and extended Truman's loyalty review program. Similar loyalty reviews were established in many state and local government offices and some private industries across the nation. In 1958 it was estimated that roughly one out of every five employees in the United States was required to pass some sort of loyalty review.
There were many anti-Communist committees, panels, and "loyalty review boards" in federal, state, and local governments, as well as many private agencies that carried out investigations for small and large companies concerned about possible Communists in their work force.
Fast forward to 2009. A group obsessed with creating a Caliphate based on Muslim religious law -- Sharia Law -- in the United States and other nations held their first US conference in Chicago and there is no reaction by the government and little by the public yet the threat posed by Islam and their Jihadists is greater than any ever posed by Communists in the United States.
The conference is titled, "The Fall of Capitalism and the Rise of Islam," and was held at the Hilton Hotel in a suburb of Chicago. The shocking part of this is that the majority of congress is silent about this gathering of dedicated enemies of the US Constitution and American values, yet they are voicing their outrage over a CIA proposal to "terminate" terrorist leaders overseas. The Obama Administration and most of the news media are also remaining silent.
Hizb ut-Tahrir (HT), the international movement to re-establish an international Islamic state or Caliphate, started their campaign to win American recruits in a Chicago suburb and nearly 300 people packed the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Hotel for its Khalifah Conference to listen to Islamic ideologues blame capitalism for World War I and World War II, the U.S. sub-prime mortgage meltdown, the current violence in Iraq and Afghanistan, world poverty and malnutrition and inner-city drug use. A speaker (Abu Atallah) even blamed capitalism for the late singer Michael Jackson's decision "to shed his black skin."
In the ballroom where the conference took place, men and women were largely segregated, with men in the front and women in the back. Reacting to criticism of this segregation, one of the speakers said "Men and women must be kept separate to prevent people from behaving like animals."
According to Hizb ut-Tahrir, the world's social and economic problems will not be fixed until the world (obviously including the United States) is governed by Shariah and the government controls all major industries. "Secular capitalism has made me devalue my skin" and "has kept my family in ghettos," said one speaker, an African-American who went on to blame it for the fact that he smoked marijuana and his grandmother played the lottery. Capitalism, he added, is a form of economic "terrorism" and "causes us to be sent to mental hospitals." In an interview with WBBM-TV in Chicago, a deputy spokesman Mohammad Malkawi refused to specifically condemn Al Qaida and the Taliban.
Despite all this Hizb ut-Tahrir has not been designated a terrorist group by the U.S. government and it insists it is only interested in instituting radical change by nonviolent means. But the organization’s alumni include 9/ll mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the late Iraqi terrorist leader Abu Musab Zarqawi and would-be Hamas suicide bombers, and the group's pro-jihadist rhetoric has led critics to label it a "conveyor belt for terrorists."
Even a Muslim American group condemned Hirb ut-Tahir but not the US government. They issued a statement in advance of the conference condemning Hizb ut-Tahrir's radical ideology and challenging others to follow suit.
"Hizb ut-Tahrir preaches an ideology that calls for the destruction of the principles that America is founded on," said Zuhdi Jasser, president of the American-Islamic Forum for Democracy. "While their words are protected by our First Amendment, their actions and movement must not be allowed to take hold. The silence of American Islamist organizations like [the Council on American-Islamic Relations] CAIR and [the Islamic Society of North America] ISNA in condemning the ideologies of Hizb ut-Tahrir and their agenda of insurgency in America speaks volumes to their own, albeit, more camouflaged Islamist agenda."
How “non violent” can this organization be? One panelist suggested that modern industrial powers could fall to Muslims the way Mecca fell to Mohammed nearly 1,400 years ago. A speaker identified by conference organizers as Imam Jaleel Abdul Razek said that "if they offer us the sun, or the moon, or a nice raise, or a passport, or a house in the suburbs or even a place to pray at the job, on the condition that we stop calling for Islam as a complete way of life - we should never do that, ever do that - unless and until Islam becomes victorious or we die in the attempt."
Does this sound like a peaceful organization to you?
There was a dialogue between the imam and a member of the audience over whether Shariah or the Constitution should be the supreme law of the land in the United States
Audience member: "Would you get rid of the Constitution for Shariah, yes or no?"
Imam: "Over the Muslim world? Yes, it would be gone."
Audience Member: And so if the United States was in a Muslim world, the Constitution would be gone?"
Imam: "If the United States was in the Muslim world, the Muslims who are here would be calling and happy to see the Shariah applied, yes we would."
Audience Member: "And the Constitution gone. That's all."
Imam: "Yes, as Muslims they would be long gone."
Clearly Hizb ut-Tahrir's is not only is determined to destroy capitalism -- it would shred the United States Constitution as well in favor of Shariah law.
Could domestic Communists in the 1950’s have done worse? What has happened to America when we once recognized the threat of Communism but fail to recognize the far worse threat – Islam?

I agree with the author, in
I agree with the author, in the past most citizens of democratic nations realised how threatening Communism was to our liberties and the ideology was resisted. Perhaps the difference with Islam is, that, to many in the West, it appears as just another religion,it is in fact a totalitarian ideology. Centuries have passed since Westerners have been threatened by theocrats,we've forgotten the lessons our ancestors learned the hard way. The 5th century Romans had to accommodate the barbarians' demands because they were weak,we're not.
The trap Americans fall into
The trap Americans fall into is the idea that Islam is a religion and no more. If it is a religion, we have to give it some slack because we value our freedom of religion. The problem is, no other religion has a code of laws (Sharia) which tell you how to do everything from plucking your grey hair (Reliance of the Traveller, (e4.4) to wiping yourself (e9.5(4). Oh, yes, and if you don't think everything is caused by the direct will of Allah, including water boiling at 212 degrees, then you are an apostate worthy of death (o.8.7(17)). So Islam is a religion with an overriding military/political agenda. After WW II, the U.S. occupying forces in Japan shut down the Shinto religion because it ordained suicide kamakazis. We need to do the same with Islam, because "The caliph makes war upon Jews, Christians, and Zoroastrians until they become Muslim or else pay the non-Muslim poll tax." (o9.8) If this isn't a declaration of war, then I'll drink the Muslim cure-all, camel urine (see Bukhari Vol. 1, Book 4, Number 234).
Here is toast of camel urine(
Here is toast of camel urine( hot and fresh) long live american sharia!
When Muslims organised
When Muslims organised conference to execute the strategies for establishing sharia laws in the USA, did President Obama react to it (+ve or -ve)?
There is a saying in Hindi--
There is a saying in Hindi-- a devil that listens only when it is beaten will never listen if u try to pacify it through negotiations. Kaffirs, be prepared to counter these Jihadi forces.
Ahimsa paramo dharmah, dharma himsa tathaiva cha--- Non-voilence is the best religion; so is the voilence used for establishing righteousness. It is time for action through force!
Well, I can tell you why we,
Well, I can tell you why we, as a whole, do not recognize islam as a threat - no one has defined our enemy. They call a war a 'War on Terror' and that is naming a war after only one of their strategies. And now we have a President who wants to eliminate those types of words too 'War on Terror'. We are in major political correctness mode and are afraid to name a religion, as the problem.
And did anyone really think we 'beat' communism? If anyone does then they are not aware of what our Universities turn out, our media's bias, and look at who is in control of our Congress and Presidential offices - left wing liberals, or now they call themselves 'Progressives', which is just another name for Marxism/Communism. And the Republicans are even bent that way too, we call them 'RHINOS'.
And when I talk about media, I am including the hollyweirdos such as Sean Penn, Streisand, Letterman and other 'comedians' who are about as funny as a stone, and so many others who turn out movies, weekly series, and other forms of media with a 'Progressive' bent.
The McCarthyism that they also whine and wail about wasn't what they keep propagating. McCarthy was absolutely correct when he said that the communists were infiltrating so many of our institutions, and documents were opened in the mid 1990s that proved him correct. And the lefties still whine and wail about 'McCarthyism' as an evil guy.
And if we just let the organizations such as the MSA (Muslim Student Association), and who knows what else, infiltrate our Universities - we will continue to crank out the apologists that we are getting now, and worse. In the 1980s, the Muslim Brotherhood started using the MSA as one of their tools - docs were uncovered in Europe (The Project) and the USA (Government Exhibit 003-0085).
We even have politicians that are so concerned about political correctness they have our FBI/CIA, military/Pentagon, etc all take 'sensitivity training' classes led by muslims who tell them a bunch of junk about what islam is. And we have muslims in those institutions in high positions. They cave to muslim pressure too - right after 9/11 they had muslims translating documents and they caved to the pressure to NOT have any Jews with them translating. The Jews would have been better candidates and many of them know many Middle Eastern languages!
We have schools that are ok with telling false history - just so as to not offend. This is what has happened with communism too. How many of our kids know that the Progressives are nothing but Marxists with a new name? Our kids don't even know that slavery still exists in islam to this day - why should we expect them to know anything about communism except that McCarthy was an evil guy?!
This is really troublesome. I
This is really troublesome. I mean freedom of speech and everything is fine, but when people start taking these freedoms for granted, its time for something to be done urgently!
ibrahim, all I can say is
ibrahim, all I can say is that I joined Act for America and we do letter and email campaigns. We go do other things too. It depends on the group leader, and also one can become a group leader too and then there is even more ideas that are given to us.
We are guided as to what we can do - peacefully.
The thing that bothers me the most is that our Universities have had an increase in anti-semitism and they just don't seem to care. What will it take? An increase in violence against gays because that is on the rise in some areas where Muslims are grouping together in communities (they do that so as to increase their power faster - get people elected into offices, etc).
I think that our organizations (Universities, media, politicians, and even businesses since they are catering to muslim demands, and caving to muslim bullying tactics) don't really care about gay rights, women rights, etc - if they have to do something about it if that means they would have to figure out that islam is not what they think it is. Or they would have to stand up against it.
The ironic part of the left is that they have a goodly chunk of hollyweird and they can put out movies that have the 'evil' ugly against good - and the good guy/gal usually wins. But in real life evil can come up and smack them around and they wouldn't recognize it.
Hi
Hi friends
Quran/Islam/Muhammad were for uplift of humanity in the spheres of temporal, moral and spiritual fields. They never believed in physical supremacy. Hence, there is no threat to the world from Quran/Islam/Muhammad. The terrorists; yes, but they are being taken care of by America and Allies. Faithfreedom.org or Ali Sina should not worry about it, in my opinion.
Thanks

This is typical ahmadi or sufi answer. islam is made for world domination (sharia law applied to all, no other religions shall exist except islam, USA is their biggest enemy with their democracy). America and allies are fighting shadows, the terror won't stop as long as islam exist.
Hi, R-not, Really, but we
Hi, R-not,
Really, but we DID beat the communists, not totally, but significantly. I grant you that China is still communistic, and Russia is not really a democracy, but think back to the years before the fall of the wall in 1989. We were then in fear of the communists taking over the globe, most of us did not consider it possible that the Soviet Empire would fall in our lifetime. And now much of Eastern Europe, even parts of the Soviet Union, are democratic and parts of the EU and NATO.
And when these communists were so powerful and threathening the West indeed helped many dictatorships on the grounds that they would be better "our bastards than theirs". The opponents of today, radical hegemonistic Muslims, are not so powerful in states as the Communists were, and now our policy is to promote democracy everywhere, and if possible, to help no more cruel tyrannical regimes.
Call me naive, but I see MUCH progress since 1991, and I think freedom will probably again beat force, but on condition that this freedom is fought for. But as much as possible in a peaceful or moralistic way. It is my hope and guess that many of the immigrants into the West, especially the women, will in the end cherish their freedoms, rights, opportunities, the more prosperous Western societies and that in turn they will influence their relatives and co-religionists in the Islamic world. Remember, although far from being perfect countries, now Turkey, Indonesia AND even Pakistan have democratically elected governments. In Lebanon the pro-Western forces won in elections, and Hizbollah and allies lost there. In Iran it is obvious what the people want.
Yes, I am still optimistic.
As an afterthought, I
As an afterthought, I remember that the West in the 80-ies, under Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher, did help the Islamic freedomfighters of Afghanistan a lot. And that the greatest Mujahid of Afghanistan then was Massoud, the lion of the Panjshir-valley, who was admired by many in the West. And he was killed by accomplices of Osama Bin Laden, on the eve of 9/11.
And: According to positive psychologist Martin Seligman: A Pessimist is one whe views a bad situation as being permanent, pervasive. And one who views a good situation as temporary, only local. An optimist views bad situations as temporary, only local, whereas (s)he views good situations as permanent and pervasive.
Communist is state's
Communist is state's idiology, when islam is idiology of belief, it is easy to stir up a nation and make allies against other nations, but muslim already blend in, we received them with open arms, while we are trated differently in their country. If communist blend in, may be its hard to defeat, as they part of our daily life as friends or neighbours, but belief in different idiology who will overthrown us
What we(I mean ppl who are
What we(I mean ppl who are against Islam) need 2 do is be logical.Islam was spread by sword, shedding blood along its path by Muhammad. What we need to realise is that we are not facing some political idealogy like Communism, but sth even more bigger than that.Islam will not eradicate straightaway.Trust me it will dissolve someday as no one can stop the process of evolution,we just need to continue building momentum.Islam is a force and we must defeat it by force! There may be bloodsheds along the way but thats the way it will end.Muslims are savages lets face it.Name me one Muslim country that is notable for any kind of good deeds in the eyes of modern civilisation.Enlightening the muslims abt the dangers and hypocrisy of Islam is the first step. What abt the next step when we receive the aggression of the muslims? Do we cower up and get ourselves killed in the process or do we fight? Its ur call but remember that fearing terrorists will not solve terrorism.
"Name me one Muslim country
"Name me one Muslim country that is notable for any kind of good deeds in the eyes of modern civilisation."
Mmmmmm,, i can't think of anything, my mind is totally blank when i search about it. Nope, the asnwer is NEGATIVE.
