Let me tell that the US knew quite well that Musharougue or any other Muslim President of Pakistan would use these funds to strengthen their battle against India. When US attacked Afghanistan, they sought Paksitan's help and not India's even though they knew that Pak wouldn't be fighting Taliban with their own will. US is supplying the money, IMF is giving the Loans, West is supplying the equipments on lease and Saudi King is brokering the politicains and political Power in Pakistan. US should rethink why a failed state should be funded further to create more chaos in this part of the world.

I see. I am thinking the women of Swat valley along with the women in Afghanistan will beg to differ with you on that point. Everybody was not fine. People especially women were and are suppressed under Taliban. Lashings, cutting of hans, persecution, child brides reign with terror. But why should you care? Afterall it is not you pinned down being stoned or lashed.

You might want to study Islam and its fundamental sources then. Stoning and lashing(whipping) is in line with Sharia as stated in the hadith. The Quran does not mention stoning but it does mention cutting of feet and hands (enemies and in theft, hands only) as well as lashings (adultery and fornication). There are other punishments too such as killing apostates, killing gays (unless the gay men repent and change their ways) whilst gay females would be left inside a house to die.

"If two men among you are guilty of lewdness, punish them both. If they repent and amend, Leave them alone; for Allah is Oft-returning, Most Merciful. " (4:16)

"The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication,- flog each of them with a hundred stripes: Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment. " (24:2)

The hadith on the topic are various. I am sure if you sit down with Sahih Bukhari or Sahih Muslim, you will find the hadith underlying this issue.

The blaming and pointing fingers won't do much good considering many muslims are sadly doing a great job at "bringing down" Islam by portraying it in a less flattering light through their actions derived from the religious interpretations by the scholars. I will say that denial only complicates the issues at hand facing Islam. There are problems and many muslims are suffering under it as well as minorities in muslim countries. In Pakistan Musharraf has maintained the Hudood Ordinance, which demands 4 adult male sane witnesses from a woman to prove she was raped. As rape is not a public matter such witnesses will be hard to find. In the absence of such witnesses she will instead be accused of zina (fornication) and punished by being thrown in jail. And jail for women in a country like Pakistan is not exactly paradise.

This was what Zia ul Haq left behind. Islamic party members in the pakistani Parlament have affectively and zealously opposed any amendments to or removal of this HudoodOrdinance despite concerns voiced by Pakistani human right activists and lawyers and feminists. Saudi has a similar system. All women who were raped and came forward were sentenced to lashings in accordance with the Sharia system. This is no coincidence and nothing to do with Wahabi or such but islam. That is why these laws are not being removed or changed.

Yet I hear no accusation of these laws attempting to bring down Islam. Is the silence to be taken as agreement? I understand that you personally do not agree with such things but nevertheless these are part of Sharia and Islam today. And I am personally interested in how this can be resolved so that people can live together in peace without fear or danger.

Do you even know that Nato forces do not trust Pakistan army and intelligence any more, they plan & execute their operation without letting Pak army know and target main leaders of terrorist groups instead of common citizens. 3. Has the War over with terrorist groups? Is Pakistan able to impose its national constitution in every part of country? If not than why does Pakistan also rotates the military equipment which was provided by the west to Fight Islamic terrorism? 4. First save your country from Taliban/ true Islam than think about modernizing nuclear weapons. Indian Army is far advance and more powerful than Pakistan Army in terms of equipments and strength. If North Korea Buys/steals some nuclear bomb from some smuggler Like Abdul Kadir khan (Father of Pakistan atomic bomb), would not make North Korea equal to USA or Russia or England or so . World is only worried, because these Bombs might end up in the hands of Terrorist organization with the help of true Muslims like Abdul Kadir Khan or so. India does not need to have ICBM or aircraft carrier to deal with Pakistan.

Pakistani National hero, Abdul Kadir Khan (The Smuggler) has been charged with stealing technical documents (Gas centrifuge blueprints –sensitive to nuclear technology) in the Netherlands, but he and Pakistani government denies the charges. 8. Pakistan is the country which has got best terrorist training camps in the world and supplies them in regular basis to his neighboring countries and deep sea countries. Wanderer to your statement that Pakistan is fighting it's OWN war. Taliban bringing in their Wahhabi laws iin Swat was unheard of before 9/11. The phenomenon only took place once Pakistan decided to help US and NATO forces. You are probably assuming I have no knowledge of Swat. I'm for Pakistan. i have lived in Canada for 9 years and Pakistan for 11. I still remember going to Swat in 2000, 1999, 1997, it was like heaven. Everything was jus really peaceful n calm. There was no violence. The only signs of mistreatment to women was the century old TRIBAL system of honor killings, which in Swat was VERY RARE and was rather more common in Bolochistan. So I don't know what bright idea came to your mind which made u say that Swat was a warzone before 9/11. Swat had women colleges, schools like any other area. Tourism was ripe. Things were great. I remember going there with my friends and cousins and none of them was wearing a hijab and no one was luking at us as if they wanted to kill us.
