Kohat, Friday: A suicide car-bomber killed at least 25 people in northwest Pakistan on Friday in an explosion on a road that brought down nearby shops, police and witnesses said.
Militants have struck with bombs numerous times since intensifying their war against the government in 2007, but the Islamists have suffered setbacks this year raising government hope that the security forces might be getting the upper hand.

Martel
I seriously doubt that Iran will ever attack Saudi Arabia. The Saudis got the most powerful & advanced military in the world.
It's called the U.S military.
Most of us will agree that
Most of us will agree that all war is HOR-RI-BLE and human life should be considered sacrosanct, but we can speculate about defence-strategy. Or at least follow all developments.
Isn't it amazing and good that the Pak army now at least fights the Taliban? That in Pakistan and even on this website Taliban is very impopular with other Muslims? Can the Shia-Muslims of India now also start denouncing the Ayatollahs in Iran? And instead ally themselves more with the Shiites of Iraq, under Sistani? Because Sistani does not seem te believe in state-rule by Islamic clerics. I think he realizes that eventually such rule is really detrimental to Islam. Due to inevitable oppression, economic and other failures, dislike of government anywhere. And Iran HAS failed economically and in many other respects. And with a low oil price, the government can't enough cover up its failures with oil-money anymore.
I also think that whenever drugs are legalized in the future, that their price will plummet and that this will cost the Taliban much income. And also that this would remove opposition to the Afghan government by druglords AND small opium-farmers. Because in Afghanistan the war is partly so difficult because of war on Taliban AND on drugs, it seems to me.
