RAP MUSIC AND ISLAM

Hi, Raisinhead,

It is interesting that you brought up music and hipocracy in Islam. Have you ever heard of the Muslim rap group Soldiers of Allah? I listened to them once or twice (just to see what they were about) when I had converted to Islam. Just recently, I tried to find more information on them. From what I understand, the group broke up and they all went their separate ways to marry and start families.

As long as it benefits Islam, I suppose anything is "halel" (spelling).

You are right about many things you said in your article. Rap has gotten way out of line. A friend of mine and I were talking about that not too long ago. Even though rap in the 90's degraded women, (which I condemn highly), at least many rappers talked about problems in the family, problems on the streets...just life in general. Now all rap seems to do is boast about what they have, complain about what they don't have and....sex, sex, sex! There are very few rappers I listen to these days because it is just awful!

I'm glad you are taking a stand to educate black/African American Muslims. That is just as important because they are absolutely misled! I've even heard Arabs say that black American Muslims are not really Muslims....that the Nation of Islam is different than that of the real Islam.

I was listening to a black Muslim commedian not to long ago...simply to see what kind of Muslim humor was out there and when the guy talked about his conversion to Islam...his grandma said.....

"No you're not...first you have to go to jail and write a book."

I don't know if that was part of his act or if she truly said that, but it seems these black Muslim leaders grab them at a weak state and try to convince them that Christianity is a white man's religion! I don't know what Jesus looks like, but if I had to guess, observing by geographical location....I'm assuming he is neither white nor black...nor the people from that region during that time! And if they truly were to understand Christ, they'd know he died for everyone, not just the white man. I had a hard time with that a long time ago, but then...back then, i didn't truly understand Christ's purpose! Now I do.

One question for you......the word "negro" in spanish is used for the color black....so what exactly is "nagur"...I think that is the last word you put on the list....have a great day!

Thanks for your comments. I feel I must alert people to what is going on. I know what the Arabic type Muslims say about Black Muslims and especially NOI (farrahkan). Like most members of christendom dont really read the Bible, most Muslims dont read the Quran or hadiths. This is why they are so easy to defeat in a debate. There is a book out called "IS ISLAM REALLY A BLACK MAN'S RELIGION"
which really gives the history of the Islamization of Africa.

Sounds like more black Muslims need to read that book instead of trying to memorize Koran and banging their head 5 times a day! But then again.....I was told by the enemy (a Muslim) to know your enemy, his tactics, language, etc....so.....maybe they'll actually read the Koran in English oneday and try to figure out what they were saying in Arabic....gosh, I hope I'm making sense...I'm a little tired today....anyway...you're welcome for the comment....I'm assuming you're an American so I can relate somewhat to the whole rap era thing. Well, that is the problem with Islam.....they simply want brain-dead followers....the "prophet," himself couldn't read so I don't think he finds it necessary for anyone else to read.....I mean, how is a person supposed to understand without reading? Thanks for the article Raisin Head. This is an issue that only a person of African American descent could understand and tell us about. Even I am amazed sometimes when I see black people converting to Islam, I think to myself, why would someone convert to a philosophy whose's actual adherants think of these people as a little more than animals.

The reason behind so many african americans engaging in violence, is the same reason african americans are converting in islam, is the same reason the african continent is poor and miserable. I cannot know exactly why but there is something wrong with we blacks. Well there is nothing wrong with our intelligence. There is nothing wrong with the land. But...but...I do not understand. I think it is because like so many converts, not just blacks, but many, no matter the race, convert....they simply don't bother to read the Koran and black Muslim leaders convince them at how much it is a black man's religion whereas Christianity is a white man's religion.

I knew a lady who spoke with a black Muslim and he told her that was one of his reasons...that their is racial tention and prejudice in Christianity....that Muslim obviously hasn't read the Koran....

Other black Muslims will even say that Arabs are so prejudice against them....their ignorance is showing because if they find that is the majority....you'd think they'd research the facts.

All converts, westerners, especially should read and do research on Islam and talk to x-Muslims before converting....that was my mistake and I think it is important we try our best to educate and warn the potential converts before they repeat our (mine, I know) mistakes.

Well, here I am to comment....I had to calm down after the email I just wrote to my best friend who is a Tupac Shaqur fan.

I remembered there was a song of his and it said something about his "boy/boy's becoming a muslim/Muslims. My friend found it and it is..."I ain't mad acha!" At the beginning he talks about making changes to get out the hood....to all his homies he hasn't talked to in a while.....in the song he goes on to degrade women....girl, it was disgusting.....I don't know what it took for me to realize how horrible that bs really was/is. Some of his boys converted to Islam.....I told my friend if he understood anything about Islam, he would have seen that that was not a positive change for his "boys" to make. They're idiots! A few rappers became Muslims.....Kadaphi and Nepoleon...I think....I don't know if they still are...if they read the Koran I would hope no. I told my friend that he (Tupac) resembled a Muslim, even if he was not one by the following qualifications.

1. degrading women by calling them bitches and hoochies
2. Screwing a woman and making her out to be the slut when in fact his private part is so loose that if it wasn't attached, he'd probably lose it while engaging in an act of immoral conduct that he'll blame her for later.
3. encouraging Islam because they don't question/understand it
4. Don't read Koran like most Muslims...simply listen to Imams and Mullahs

Prophet Muhammed (saw) never said that Arab people are the best. In fact, he mentioned that in the Farewell Pilgrimage that

"No arab has a priority on an ajam(foreigner) and no ajam has a priority on an arab."

Morever, Bilal (one of the companions who was one of the seven people who were guarenteed Paradise during their lives) was a black guy. If Prophet Muhammad (saw) was a racist, he wouldn't ask Bilal to climb on the top of Ka'aba and to announce the call of prayer. Such a great honor for a muslim!

well I read the article and most of the comments and allow me to say that you don't know what you are talking about,there's a big difference between arab and muslim.
I'm half Tunisian and my first language is Arabic,I'm a "non-practising" muslim.
First,to understand Quran,you have to master the standard arabic language,which half of arabs don't,they don't understand the meaning of the Quran.So don't judge islam by arabs actions.
If you don't understand the Quran,then you are not muslim,and it's allowed to translate it to any language.
Well I read the Quran and most of the Hadith (in Arabic) and what you are saying is false(or falsified).First,the world "Abed' have nothing to do with black,it only means "slave".Tabari never said "Arabs were the best of all of allah",he said "Muslims were the best of all of allah".The prophet (saw) said "There's no difference between Arabs and Foreigners,it's all about Faith".There's nothing in Quran or Hadith that makes men superior to women,they are totally equal,plus Hijab is not an obligation,in Tunisia it's even restricted to wear it.
