The neurobiological understanding of our brains is progressing nicely and the need for inventive stories from the ancients are really not necessary. Ignorance is really not the answer for the questions you seek. Instead of regurgitating silly answers from simple ignorant men of the past, I suggest you may want to educate yourself a little on the current understanding of man.
