If you don't believe me, read the four gospels and see if Jesus taught any violence. There is only two verses in the gospels where he used the word "Sword" and that was for a specific teaching. Dear Ibn, I know that Jesus preached good things in the NT and hence I respect good things because we should allow knowledge to come from all sides, be it from pagans, heathens, kaffirs, or atheists. However, if you look at the history of Christianity, it definitely worked as a political movement and destroyed civilization after civilization---all in the name of Christ. I have seen some wonderful articles written by you on this site. When you talk of history, it has to presented and understood in the right angle.

When Christians acted as crusaders and destroyed many civilizations, killed scientists like Galeleo and Survetius, and burnt women by calling them witches, they followed OLD TESTAMENT and applied it literally. For example, you see in Dueteronomy where God (?) commands Christians to utterly destroy the idols of pagans and establish his kingdom. Now you know these verses look naked and stupid. They all said Jesus is the ONLY begotten SON of God, and that no one comes to Father EXCEPT through HIM (this is a verse from NT). However, later on I started asking questions like-- If Jesus is the only hope for Heaven, what happened to those who existed prior to Jesus? What will happen to good people (eg. You see, they were unable to answer these questions and never came back to me again. 1. Intolerance in Christianity did NOT occur now and then. This is NOT some isolated incident. Intolerance has consistently been applied by Christians against non-Christians for last 1600 years or more.

2. You pick and choose only gospels while completely neglecting the old testament laws and rest of new testament applied to practice of other religions.

Jesus himself says

These laws are implemented by state and Jesus openly supports implementation of Mosaic laws, including death sentences for various so called crimes as idolatry, witchcraft etc. as stated in old testament. Now you may quote Jesus' other statements which is confined to personal relationships between two people. These do NOT nullify Mosaic Laws.....

(Here Jesus shows the danger of NOT following OT laws and thus tells Christians to apply OT laws through their state.)

It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the least stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law. (Jesus again protests aganst any attempt to invalidate Mosaic laws.)

My dear friend, mother teresa was not really in Indian to eleate the sufferings of the poor. She used to convert each and every orphan that came to her orphanage. Her orphanage ran on native Indian money with ofcourse backing from Rome. There are several hundred's of Hindu and Jain organisations which run orphanages. However they dont go around converting children or changing their religious beliefs.

I am a freedom-loving spiritual mystic who prefers direct communion with the Supreme Creator, rather than blindly follow man-made religions with all their petty rules and dogmas.
