Canadian Muslim Group Asks Harper to Ban ‘Tribal Desert’ Veils

Oct. 8 (Bloomberg) -- The Muslim Canadian Congress asked Prime MinisterStephen Harper’s government to ban face-covering veils such as the burqa because of concerns they oppress women and can compromise security.
“It’s got nothing to do with Islam -- it’s a tribal desert custom,” Tarek Fatah, the founder of the group, said today in a televised interview with the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. “We have a security issue that should concern all of us.”
Fatah’s comments come four days after Egypt’s highest Muslim authority,Mohammad Sayyed Tantawi, said he planned to prohibit women students from wearing veils at Al-Azhar University, the country’s leading Islamic institute. Tantawi, 79, declared that the veil, niqab in Arabic, “has nothing to do with Islam,” according to remarks published in the state-run Al-Ahram newspaper.
The use of veils sparked controversy in Canada in 2007, after Elections Canada allowed women to vote without showing their face. Other countries have also debated the issue and the French Parliament said in June it would set up a committee to look into the use of the burqa, a garment that conceals a woman’s face and body.
Increasing Exponentially
“I’m trying to fight the ideology of extremism that is coming into this country in every high school. It is increasing exponentially. It is increasing in young women who are forced to wear this contraption,” Fatah said in the CBC interview.
The Muslim Canadian Congress says it gives a voice to Muslims who are not represented by other “authoritarian” groups that fear modernity, according to the group’s Web site. Fatah declined to say how many members the group has.
In 2007, a provincial inquiry in Quebec held televised hearings on how much Quebecers should accommodate immigrants. The commission later recommended the government define “open secularism” while avoiding passing new laws to spell out specific accommodations.
The veils are “so trivial and so small an issue,” said Zijad Delic, the national executive director for the Canadian Islamic Congress. “This is a free country, in which people choose what to wear. It’s their own choice. People are mostly talking emotionally without any rational perspective.”
Canada’s Justice Minister Rob Nicholson told reporters in Ottawa that he hasn’t had an opportunity to study the request.
“There’s a debate about the role of women going on within Islam and I would hope that that debate would be led by women who are Muslims themselves,” Jack Layton, leader of the opposition New Democratic Party, told reporters in Parliament. He said banning veils is not something his party supports.
In Egypt, Members of Parliament from the opposition Muslim Brotherhood this week tried and failed to oust Egypt’s top Muslim cleric over his proposal to ban university women from wearing veils.

It never has anything to do with Islam. Oh sure. It's simply tribal custom. (More taqqiya from so called "moderates")
Maybe it is only a "tribal desert" custom. But why is it that Greek Orthodox, Zoroastrian, Maronite, Hindu, Buddhist, Coptic, "tribes" do not have burqa wearing people?
DESERT CUSTOM? Really? Then why do many Chechnyan and Bosnian women choose to don it?
Last time I checked Chechnya was a densely forested place.

It's a good sign for future.
It's a good sign for future. If Islam wants respect from other religions sooner they modify themselves better. Because across the world neighbors of muslim community generally hate them because of their ridiculous activities which have nothing to do with islam. I have so many muslim friends they are never such a fool. Their wives wear veil only when they go to their villages. In their wildest dream they even can't think of sending children to Madarasas(Islamic school). Their marriage functions are getting more and more musical and colorful. They want to live a modern life. All my muslim friends are well educated this is what makes them broad minded.
They don't -

3- go to hazz
4- believe Fatawas
5- tell me Islam is superior
They do -
1- have only two children
2- use contraceptives
3- use vegetarian food
4- eat offerings of god from other religions
5- clean shave
5- listen music
6- let ladies talk on phone

i have muslim relatives who lie. They avoid me as I show them the real islam and they run. Family now know that Islam is from satan according to the quran sura 3:54-the devil and most have gotten out of Islam.
There are no living muslims
There are no living muslims on earth that can be trusted. So many times and in different countries, they come in as 'we can get along, we are just like you', only until their numbers increase, then you see the real evil that is deep in them.
I've seen them convert blacks with lies of being equal. The only equal the blacks will see, is abject slavery when the time is in their favor. They are strongly recuited for this very reason. Future slaves. For them to see blacks as lawyers, judges, business owners and mixing freely in neighbourhoods and workplaces is something that must be erased. Allah says so.
Even so called moderate Indonesia, now has the numbers and the vicious laws are starting to take effect. Soon the killing of all who will not convert will begin. They have reached enough numbers for this.
There are no friendly muslims. From birth only hate is instilled into them. They are taught to hide their hate from non-muslims with easy deception.
Their Friday night mosque gatherings are just hate filled chants of kill the apes and pigs. Death to the infidel. These people have chosen the deep rot of the soul to live by. It is no wonder the males are commanded to drink camel piss.
