CAIR's 2006 "Accomplishments"
by D.C. Watson
For anyone who happens to access the website belonging to the Council on American Islamic Relations, unknowing of the group's activities and stated agenda, it is conceivable that they could reach the conclusion that this organization is one of legitimacy, is ethically sound, and is determined to co-exist harmoniously with American and Canadian citizens. In review of the CAIR site, posted in the "News Releases" section are articles (numbered), consisting of what this group of Islamists considers their most significant accomplishments during last year.
These include:
- CAIR Helps Secure Release of American Journalist in Iraq
CAIR Influences Public Debate on Dubai Ports, Profiling
CAIR Educates about Islam, Declares 2006 Year of the Prophet
CAIR Mobilizes Muslim Voters and Gets out the Vote
CAIR Releases Pioneering Research on American Muslims
CAIR Condemns Israeli War, Examines Israel Lobby
CAIR Addresses U.S.-Iran Relations, Iraq, Pope's Comments
CAIR Defends Civil Rights by Taking Legal Action
CAIR Challenges Islamophobia
CAIR Empowers Muslims by Training Students, Imams
While this organization has certainly done a magnificent job of harassing American businesses that don't cater to Islam, while simultaneously painting some elected officials, other public figures, and American citizens who speak the truth about Islam and Islamist underhandedness as anti-Muslim bigots and "Islamophobes", CAIR's so called influence, at least in certain circles, appears to be crumbling.
As the CAIR crowd hugs itself over their perceived success, they've neglected to mention a few more examples of their proficiency, or lack thereof, which also occurred last year.
Earlier in 2006, the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), dismissed a defamation lawsuit they had filed against Andrew Whitehead, the director of the Anti-CAIR website. Whitehead, a retired American Armed Forces veteran, refused to remove what had been posted on the Anti-CAIR website regarding CAIR and its activities. CAIR filed a lawsuit, and a counter-suit was filed by Whitehead's legal counsel. To this day, these statements remain posted at Anti-CAIR.
November 2006: The Executive Director of the Tampa, Florida chapter of CAIR, Ahmed Bedier, e-mailed author and Jihad Watch director Robert Spencer with the following:
- "Spence:
"Maybe you should consider taking your hate-fest workshops on the road and train bigots how to restrain their hatred so not to expose themselves.
Bobby, the reality is NO ONE cares about your views and the handful of visitors that read the hate speech that you spew are the lowest segment of our society.
The majority of Americans do not respect bigots like yourself that spread hate daily.
Including this letter writer, SEE
hernandotoday.com
It's entertaining watching you and your ineffective friends get desperate. Remember to restrain yourself."
December 2006:
Another waste of time and American taxpayer dollars:
The U.S. State Department met with CAIR, among other Islamic spokespersons in America to discuss "Islamophobia", the phony term used by Islamist individuals and organizations in an attempt to portray themselves and those they claim to represent as 'endangered.' CAIR and its colleagues apparently failed to produce anything of great significance, as the government's stance on this issue was documented as follows:
"Yes there are disturbingly large numbers of incidences that suggest that prejudice is at work, however the overall picture indicates that things are not as bad as some Muslim leaders were claiming them to be."
In other words, the U.S. government is on to CAIR "crying wolf", and its trumpeting of "Islamophobia" and "anti-Muslim bias" in America.
Has the CAIR organization bothered to take into consideration the fact that pro-Hizballah rallies, protests over the removal of Shari'ah law in Somalia, both of which have occurred inside the United States, along with their own hounding and badgering of American society may be a few of the primary reasons for mistrust and scrutiny of Muslims living in the United States? Apparently not.
There are many Muslims living in the U.S., some of whom I know personally, who have no interest in the Council on American Islamic Relations speaking for them. This in itself speaks volumes about CAIR, and should be recognized by both the mainstream press and elected officials who believe this horde should be given even a second of their time.
2006: CAIR official Basim Elkarra thought he had himself an "Outstanding Service" award from U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D) California. He did. For a short time, anyway.
That was until a Joe Kaufman column, published at Frontpagemag.com on December 18, 2006 caught Senator Boxer's eye. A short time after, the award was rescinded. CAIR, with its standard operating procedure, has requested a meeting with Boxer, demanding that she "withdraw the action."
"This is an attempt to marginalize the largest and most mainstream Muslim organization in the country," says Hussam Ayloush, executive director of CAIR's office in southern California. "This is absolutely unacceptable."
No, Ayloush. What is absolutely unacceptable in its entirety is the Council on American Islamic Relations, which includes but is not limited to:
Its public commentary.
Its list of convicted and/or deported officials and fundraisers for their participation in terror and fraud related activities. (Royer, Khafagi, Elashi, Haddad).
Its attacking of anyone, including filing lawsuits, and attempts to have fired from their jobs those who speak out in the public forum against or expose the words and actions of radical Imams in American Mosques, the atrocities committed by Islam's founder, the not-quite-so peaceful Muhammad, and the violent components built into the Qur'an.
For all who enjoy living freely as Americans and Canadians, including the mainstream media and elected officials, a reasonable New Year's "resolution" for 2007 may come in the form of obtaining the truth about the Council on American Islamic Relations and its agenda, followed by a collective effort focused on its cessation, as this crew of overbearing blowhards has proven to be nothing close to a friend, ally, or supporter of Western society, but rather an organization that should be harshly confronted every time they ramp up another illegitimate race baiting campaign against the American and Canadian people.
