First of all let me salute you for the bravery and the resolve you have at exposing the lies of Islamists and the teachings of the Qurann. Many a times I thought of writing to you, but have exercised restraint, partly because I did not want to expose myself to more pain.
I am a grown up woman with three adult children, I was born into a Muslim family in a North India. Fortunately I was born with a sense of right and wrong. At a very young age I started questioning the the Imam who came home to teach me to read the Quran in Arabic. I could not understand what I read and he would not tell me what was written in the Quran. Simple reason, he himself did not know and needed to know. He was just doing a job he was being paid for. Moreover he did not understand Arabic like most Imams in non-Arab countries. I was supposed to read it as it was the word of Allah and not question it.
At the same time I could not stand male domination in my family and community. I made up my mind at an early age that I will not allow such domination in my life. I had seen grown up women in the family being beaten up with canes when they did not comply with the demands of the men or God forbid asked for equality or respect. I was just fortunate, I somehow through sheer perseverance and hard work got a college degree. All throughout I had to keep my feelings towards Islam to myself as I was too afraid to be vocal about it. I got higher education and did all a good Muslim girl is not supposed to. Move to a different city for education, wear pants, and have male friends.
At some point of my adult life I decided to read the Quran in English and also read Islam's history, Hadith and Sira. I was disgusted, and decided never to marry a Muslim; I ended up marrying a Jew who was a classmate. This is when I saw the wrath of the men in my family. I took the beating but did not budge from my decision.
We ended up living in Israel. Today I live in Kansas and have many of my Muslim family members living on the East Coast. I am seeing thier hatred of Jews and Israel. And trust me they are all doctors and engineers but still have the 7th century Arab mentality. Its getting worse. Many women are back in the Hijab, and these members of my family do not miss any opportunity to ridicule me in public or make derogatory remarks about Jews or Israel. I did not live in Israel for very long as I moved to US but I did not feel like an alien in that country. I was accepted and treated like any other citizen.
What is wrong with Muslims is the question. In my opinion a lot is to do with peer pressure. It's just like kids who refuse to smoke or drink or do drugs are not cool, the same way Muslims who do not behave in a certain way are not real Muslims. They are always worried about acceptance; being a part of the Muslim community means a lot to them as they do not know better. They have lost the capability to think on thier own. I think at some level they envy those who have freedom of thought, for they have not mustered up courage to get out of the bondage they are in. I was very angry for a long time with my family members and the Muslims I knew growing up and those I met here. But now all I feel is pity. They are victims. Victims always will victimize others. My suggestion to Muslims is to look within and see if they really believe that Islam is the best religion. Read and understand the Quran and not get emotional and wound up by the Imam's sermons. Is the Imam saying the truth. or adding his own feelings, biases and brainwashing the listeners because is a good public speaker. Does he have in depth knowledge of what he is preaching? When every Muslim will read the Quran, Hadith, Sira and Islamic History things will be different. Humans are good, they want to do good. But one has to think for oneself what good means, not what someone said it. may be that someone had or has a hidden agenda.

I have seen men beating their wives all my life . Its less in educated familes but
doesn't mean its not there.... Some of my paternal side is located in village,
my paternal side is considered the richest of that area and the most modern.
My uncle beats his wife every 3 - 4 days ....Same goes for another uncle of
mine ... My mother always used to tell me ... You know why these men behave like this ... They behave like this because they are so far away from Islam ....
Well its an irony that it is not them who are act unaware about Islam but
my poor mother. She should be happy that her husband doesn't know his
Islamic rights thankfully...

we will get married by the end of this year ...

Now let me tell a small story.I was on the Rajdhani(train) express on the way to Delhi,to take up a job in Libya.I had a elderly gentleman for company.Our discussions lead to islam. I told him that the right wing in India are on the wrong path.Beating muslims is not the answer. I told him the Indian Govt should give
compulsory secular education till degree for all female muslims.You make the women independent,they can rein in the men .He was visibly impressed & called me over to his house in Delhi.since i had to leave,I could not meet him.I think he was a rss man or at least connected to them,not sure.

this story just made my day. it seems that Geert wilders is wrong when he says Quran should be banned. It seems the more muslims understand Quran, the more they hate it and therefore leave it.
I would say Quran should be taught as a subject to all students(not just muslims) as part of secular education with expert commentaries and inputs from leading experts of Islam from non-muslims(only ex-muslims ). Infact, it should be taught to students as a way of how now to live life.
Today, muslims and islam get appeased because people who appease them
a) do it out of their greed e.g vote banks(not much can be done about them unless the rules of the game change for worse for them if they support islam)
b) out of sheer ignorance ( i would say a majority fall in this group).
I congratulate you Ms. Rohana. You have done the right thing and you should never have to feel ashamed of it. If your family derogates you because you gave up islam, they are the loosers and not you. But I would say if you can drill down a bit of logic into some of your younger relatives, it would be the best slap on the face of islam.

In India the women are at risk for domestic injuries because they do majority of the cooking.Hence they are more prone for fire injuries.Yes it was misused for bride burning.In reaction to that new rules were framed,now even if a wife burns herself accidently, prom to the husband will be picked up for questioning & if any inch of doubt is present, he would be arrested. Even the police are afraid to play with these cases,they could lose their jobs.
I think you read domestic injuries as domestic violence.One study proves nothing, it is a impetus for future studies to the problem & how it can be addressed.

Krishna did you know that in Arab countries have the largest number of suicide cases of the Muslim women. Unfortunately no statistics are availble due to the censorship which is a norm in most Islamic societies.
In most of the cases Muslim women tend to live a subhuman life where they don't have any sorts of rights over the men. A man does not even need to inform his wife if he wishes to take a new wife. Islam gives men infinite powers over women.

Here is one more statistic, The divorce rate in KSA is the second highest and the reason is domestic violence. It is as high as 40% or more.
I wonder what the divorce rate would have been if there were some freedom to saudi women. I really pity them.

it is well known that there are some issues especially social issues like dowry deaths and female infanticide in India but the origins of that lie in Islamic conquest of India. HIndus of India were forced to kill their daughters because of these barbaric muslims.
I am not sure if there is any other religion other than hinduism( and some other pagan religions) that has women as godesses and someone to be worshipped.

If women had freedom in Saudi Barbaria, then probably men would not be abusing women left and right. Anyway I am not concereed so much about the Islamic world. The fact of the matter is that I have stopped pitying Muslim women, as they themselves defend their own opression.

The Shia Sunnin rift that you are talking about is only for the people to see. Inorder that domination may suceed, Muslims of all hues and colour will come together. In any case the Shia are merely 10% of all Muslim population.
The best way according to me is that the Government start treating Islamic institutions with an ironfist. All sorts of Islamic institutions should be banned, Islamic schools should be closed, Islamic symbols should be banned. Discussion on Islam should be made a public affair and Muslims should be encouraged to participate in these discussion. All sorts of voilence commited in the name of Allah should be made punishble by tough sentences and eviction from the country.
Muslims are bullies by nature, the more they are pampered the more will they ask for till the time you are left with nothing. We don't need the Government to start, we can take an initiave by ourselves by educating others, use religious and non-religious forums alike to spread this literature. We need to work with Missionary zeal if we have to save all that Freedom stands for. If we think that merely deabting people on the internet will save this world, then we are living in a fool's paradise.
This is why I put so much importance on getting ourselves registered as legitimate organisation and build up cadres who can spread the mesage. At the end of the day it is the nubers who will decide. This is the reality and I am a pragmatist. We infidels are extremely divided and fight over petty issues amogst ourselves. Till the time we don't leave our petty quarrels aside and organise ourselves we will not be able to save oursleves from the looming destruction.
See Focused, at the end of the day we have a common enemy and as a wise Indian once said, my enemy's enemy is my friend. At the end of the day this is might not be a Kosher alliance, but my friend the fear of death is much bigger than any other belief.

I do agree with every word that you said especially having numbers on our side. It is going to be very difficult for people from countries where muslims have siginifcant presence to be members of such organization not only because they will face threats from muslims but also from politicians. As for people in the west, i think we should start sowing the seeds of this organization. We need more and more people to talk to more and more people.
As a first, I think, we need to increase unique visitors to this website in our areas of living by printing some enticing material and circulating in public places without raising any suspicions. Once we get some confirmation of increased traffic from moderator, we can start organising ourselves online in social networking groups finally leading to meeting in person.
As an aside, yesterday, while walking in a shopping mall, i met an Israeli lady and i started discussing the Israel-islamic conflict with her. I was amazed at how much she yearned for peace. She was not willing to discuss what muslims plan for them. She was talking positively of Jordan saying we are at peace with jordan and blah blah. She did not show a single sign of hatred in her for muslims.
As long as we have people like her, it is extremely difficult to rid ourselves of Islam.

There are around 15000 Jews in India. Lets say that there are 15000 additional jewish students from India and all of them are male. Their percentage still remains .003 %. Its still not a very favorable chance. However, as long as there is even one jew in india, its still possible that one of your classmates might be Jewish. Its not very likely though. I never said its impossible to have a Jewish classmate in India.

I got to use it 3 years ago, 23 years later, when a drunken jerk tried to hit me. I stood my ground, not knowing what to do but knowing I had to stand up to this bully. Well, the foot went up and the top-heavy drunk b*stard went down.
The man was in shock, he never expected me to be able to defend myself. Maybe he'll think twice before he ever tries to hit a woman again, loser.
