America: The Enemy of Freedom

Printer-friendly versionSend to friendPDF versionI would caution the protestors in Iran not to count on any support from the United States.  The people currently in power in this country are the ones with a propensity to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and coddle despots, dictators and tyrants. Some in power in the US now are part of our own 1960’s revolution – the ones who doomed millions to Vietnamese communism and Cambodian killing fields.  They promised air and logistical support if the North invaded South Vietnam, only to sit idly as Saigon fell, and eventually 17 more nations felt the jack boot of Soviet oppression.  They promised anti-Castro rebels support if they fought for Cuban freedom, only to withhold that support at the critical moment so that Cubans still suffer despotism some 40-years later.  The sons and daughters of the 1950’s anti-nuclear and 1960’s anti-war movements now run America, and instead of supporting freedom for the oppressed peoples of the earth they drop on bended knee and kiss the ring of tyranny in apology to men and women around the world who crush the human spirit to be free.  The world witnessed the President of the United States bow to a Saudi king, sit it tacit approval while a tin-horn dictator gave a 90-minute anti-American tirade, reach out to the thugs now being protested in Iran, chastised our most important Middle East ally and apologized for our nation seeking to free the huddled masses and lift up the oppressed.  No, look not for his support. Yesterday the brave men and women of our intelligence agencies – heroes all - might have come to your aid, but no more.  Their own leaders will prosecute them for their efforts, release their secrets, call them liars and shame them to the world.  And the brave fighting men and women of our military services – those heroes in our Special Forces – the covert operators - fear not the bullets and bombs of tyranny, but the judge’s gavel when they suffer courts-martial for killing our enemies.  You are on your own. Those in power in America now sold out the freedom fighters in Honduras and Nicaragua and ran in fear as our soldiers lay dead in the streets of Somalia.  And then after calling for the Kurds to rise up in 1991 and cast off the chains that bound them, stood idle as Saddam Hussein slaughtered their grandmothers and children in the swamps of Southern Iraq and the hills and mountains of the North. Even as our own soldiers made slow and costly progress in Iraq against an enemy with no modern rules of war, any chivalry or honor on the field, our own leaders now in power opposed their sacrifice and spoke of retreat and surrender – empowering our enemies to fight on!  They divulged our own secrets, opposed our own efforts, and announced defeat before our new strategies had even been employed. Alas, the struggle and blood sacrifice in Iran today promises no political power or votes in America tomorrow for the hippies, progressives and socialists covetous of more power in a new America, so the mere act of voicing moral support for those yearning to be free will die a silent death at the altar of political correctness.  The shining city on the hill as a beacon of freedom to the oppressed of the world is no more.  To those who would look to our American leaders who suborn systemic voter registration fraud in America for support of your voting rights in Iran, I say look not upon our face today for we are in shame.  We have apologized for freeing the millions in Eastern Europe, Muslims in Kosovo and Bosnia, the people of Nicaragua and Honduras, Afghanis and Iraqis.  So take what our leaders might say today with that proverbial grain of salt, if they say anything at all.  We may imply some support for you behind the scenes, but we mean not what we say.  Trust not the leaders of America today who will snatch defeat from the jaws of your possible victory.  God speed and good luck to you, Iran.
