This report exposes the appalling status of women in that impoverished Islamic nation, touching upon the recently passed law allowing Shi'ite Muslim men to starve their wife-slaves if the women do not let them rape them.
The report also highlights the plight of women—and their children—who have been imprisoned for having been raped and for having left their husband-slavers after being beaten or forced into prostitution. Some of these women bear scars from having been beaten with chains, as well as other implements of torture by their marital slavemasters. Here these raped and abused women must raise their poor little children, equally innocent victims of a hideously unjust and inhumane system.
The appalled male reporter from MSNBC asked the warden of this particular prison for women "how he justifies his job":
Many of these women were sentenced to prison for escaping their homes when their husbands were beating them—does that seem fair to you?The warden's response was as follows:
For a woman to leave her own home according to Afghan law, it is a crime—this is an Islamic country.Well, that blood-boiling admission just about says it all, doesn't it? In civilized countries, of course, the man would be imprisoned for beating up and raping women, but by civilized standards, these Islamic fanatics could in no way, shape or form be considered real "men." This barbaric behavior has reduced them to the status of cavemen and worse. A sensible person will ask how dare Muslim apologists for one moment claim that Islam is "great for women." Not only have I encountered such despicable opinions on the internet on far too regular a basis, over dinner one time I was verbally assaulted by an American apologist who wanted to tell me how "great" the Koran was for women! I don't know what watered-down version of the Koran he was reading, but this surah (Q 4:34) hardly sounds like it's "great for women":
Men have authority over women because God has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because God has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and forsake them in beds apart, and beat them. Then if they obey you, take no further action against them.... (Dawood, The Koran: With a Parallel Arabic Text, 83)
Clearly, the warden is right that the Afghan law basically enslaving women and allowing men to abuse, rape and beat them at will is Islamic. Men have authority over women because they are superior—that's what the Koran definitely states. It also repeats that women must be obedient to men and that the men can beat them for disobedience. In Islam, women are inferior subhumans who can essentially be owned, enslaved, raped and beaten by men whenever they feel like it. It's in the Koran, and it's the law in Afghanistan. Here is the legacy of the "great prophet" Mohammed and his savage warrior cult of death out of the Arabian desert. And the Afghan women are paying for it.
Beating, abusing, imprisoning, raping and murdering women—that's Islam.

Taliban restrictions and mistreatment of women include the:
1- Complete ban on women's work outside the home, which also applies to female teachers, engineers and most professionals. Only a few female doctors and nurses are allowed to work in some hospitals in Kabul.
2- Complete ban on women's activity outside the home unless accompanied by a mahram (close male relative such as a father, brother or husband).
3- Ban on women dealing with male shopkeepers.
4- Ban on women being treated by male doctors.
5- Ban on women studying at schools, universities or any other educational institution. (Taliban have converted girls' schools into religious seminaries.)
6- Requirement that women wear a long veil (Burqa), which covers them from head to toe.
7- Whipping, beating and verbal abuse of women not clothed in accordance with Taliban rules, or of women unaccompanied by a mahram.
8- Whipping of women in public for having non-covered ankles.
9- Public stoning of women accused of having sex outside marriage. (A number of lovers are stoned to death under this rule).
10- Ban on the use of cosmetics. (Many women with painted nails have had fingers cut off).
11- Ban on women talking or shaking hands with non-mahram males.
12- Ban on women laughing loudly. (No stranger should hear a woman's voice).
13- Ban on women wearing high heel shoes, which would produce sound while walking. (A man must not hear a woman's footsteps.)
14- Ban on women riding in a taxi without a mahram.
15- Ban on women's presence in radio, television or public gatherings of any kind.
16- Ban on women playing sports or entering a sport center or club.
17- Ban on women riding bicycles or motorcycles, even with their mahrams.
18- Ban on women's wearing brightly colored clothes. In Taliban terms, these are "sexually attracting colors."
19- Ban on women gathering for festive occasions such as the Eids, or for any recreational purpose.
20- Ban on women washing clothes next to rivers or in a public place.
21- Modification of all place names including the word "women." For example, "women's garden" has been renamed "spring garden".
22- Ban on women appearing on the balconies of their apartments or houses.
23- Compulsory painting of all windows, so women can not be seen from outside their homes.
24- Ban on male tailors taking women's measurements or sewing women's clothes.
25- Ban on female public baths.
26- Ban on males and females traveling on the same bus. Public buses have now been designated "males only" (or "females only").
27- Ban on flared (wide) pant-legs, even under a burqa.
28- Ban on the photographing or filming of women.
29- Ban on women's pictures printed in newspapers and books, or hung on the walls of houses and shops.
Apart from the above restrictions on women, the Taliban has:
- Banned listening to music, not only for women but men as well.
- Banned the watching of movies, television and videos, for everyone.
- Banned celebrating the traditional new year (Nowroz) on March 21. The Taliban has proclaimed the holiday un-Islamic.
- Disavowed Labor Day (May 1st), because it is deemed a "communist" holiday.
- Ordered that all people with non-Islamic names change them to Islamic ones.
- Forced haircuts upon Afghan youth.
- Ordered that men wear Islamic clothes and a cap.
- Ordered that men not shave or trim their beards, which should grow long enough to protrude from a fist clasped at the point of the chin.
- Ordered that all people attend prayers in mosques five times daily.
- Banned the keeping of pigeons and playing with the birds, describing it as un-Islamic. The violators will be imprisoned and the birds shall be killed. The kite flying has also been stopped.
- Ordered all onlookers, while encouraging the sportsmen, to chant Allah-o-Akbar (God is great) and refrain from clapping.
- Ban on certain games including kite flying which is "un-Islamic" according to Taliban.
- Anyone who carries objectionable literature will be executed.
- Anyone who converts from Islam to any other religion will be executed.
- All boy students must wear turbans. They say "No turban, no education".
- Non-Muslim minorities must distinct badge or stitch a yellow cloth onto their dress to be differentiated from the majority Muslim population. Just like what did Nazis with Jews.
- Banned the use of the internet by both ordinary Afghans and foreigners.
And so on...
The Special Rapporteur's attention has been drawn to the Ordinance on the Women's Veil, which is reported to have been issued by a nine-member professional committee of the High Court of the Islamic State of Afghanistan and which reads as follows:
"A denier of veil is an infidel and an unveiled woman is lewd".
"Conditions of wearing veil:
1. The veil must cover the whole body.
2. Women's clothes must not be thin.
3. Women's clothes must not be decorated and colourful.
4. Women's clothes must not be narrow and tight to prevent the seditious limbs from being noticed. The veil must not be thin.
5. Women must not perfume themselves. If a perfumed woman passes by a crowd of men, she is considered to be an adulteress.
6. Women's clothes must not resemble men's clothes.
"In addition,
1. They must not perfume themselves.
2. They must not wear adorning clothes.
3. They must not wear thin clothes.
4. They must not wear narrow and tight clothes.
5. They must cover their entire bodies.
6. Their clothes must not resemble men's clothes.
7. Muslim women's clothes must not resemble non-Muslim women's clothes.
8. Their foot ornaments must not produce sound.
9. They must not wear sound-producing garments.
10. They must not walk in the middle of streets.
11. They must not go out of their houses without their husband's permission.
12. They must not talk to strange men.
13. If it is necessary to talk, they must talk in a low voice and without laughter.
14. They must not look at strangers.
15. They must not mix with strangers."

We leave Iraq and I heard today the violence is escalating. We have a minute presence in Afghanistan and the Taliban, Al Qaeda and the nastiness of islam still prevails.
Even Bush did nothing for anyone. We waste our people and money in Iraq and then set up sharia laws. And so very few people in this country even has a clue as to what sharia laws are or else they would be outright banned! Now we even have banks in our country that is allowing 'sharia banking'. What happened to prejudiced behavior and the preference of one 'religion'?
If we did told muslims - or blacks, or Mexicans, etc they couldn't have something, or they were to be segregated from us, etc just because they were muslim, black or a Mexican, etc- the wailing and whining would be ear deafening.
And 'winning the hearts' and minds (what minds) of these two countries' peoples is futile. Oh, by the way - where are the richer muslims? Huh? They say they are not to give their charity to non-muslims, but it seems their 'charity' only goes to jihadists. And WHY are we still giving money to Iraq - they have oil money. Soon they will be funding the jihadists in Pakistan, Gaza, Afghanistan, etc too.
As with the hama/fatah/etc in Gaza, hezbollah in Lebanon, and the taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan - muslims kill more muslims than any other group. But, as with Israeli history the muslims, and their appeasers, blame the USA, and if they can, they blame the Jews too.

Word would get out, that women were welcome to flee to the West or India, where they would be taken in. And I imagine that large numbers of young women would flee these Islamic countries, building up a new life in a democratic country. And at the same time that many fighting-age young men also would flee those countries, depriving Taliban and Al-Qaida of manpower, to get a job and a future in democratic countries. Only then I wake up.

Very difficult, but maybe possible. We CAN make contracts the way we want them. We can monitor suspects, warn them, catch them in the act. We CAN if we want to, evict or if need be imprison proven contract-breechers. And we should seriously contemplate this, because our very democratic system seems on the line!

That's ok but you must make a limit. In indonesia there are thousands immigrants from afghanistan who seek refuge to australia, but between them there are jihadists and terrorists (inflitrator). You will have a hard times to locate those jerks.

That's almost impossible to monitor them all. I won't risk it. Reduce immigrants quota and impose harsh contract on them. If you are strict and resolute you will have them to think twice before making any false moves. Don't show mercy on them. Take example of China, i don't recommend 100 % like China but at least 50 %. Your democratic government is very vulnerable when comes to problem like this. Too much PC. Just look at the U.N, And it's secretary Ban Ki Moon (who knows nothing about islam).

It is not the degrading of women in Islam. Islam gives the value of women and men both are required to maintain their modesty. Just because the society moves on with the name of freedom, showing the women their private parts, cutting their hair cut, driving of the cars does'nt mean the freedom you get it and just think that how do you feel when some one of your family a wife or a sister or a mother walks between the society or people. Because of the western practices, we have spoiled our cultures, We feel that when a man or a women of western starts covers the veil then it becomes freedom. When the man or women in the west walks naked in the street it shows you as a freedom in the society. Who is this bloody society????? Check out how the western women and men in their 1950s and before that the culture. Check out how was the women treated in India at the same period or even before.

Because of the backwardness in India, men were wearing the half clothes until the new modern technical world and as a practice even the women was wearing until the 1950s.
