Is the New Hate Crimes Bill Unconstitutional?

Wednesday night, while President Barack Obama held his televised press conference marking his first 100 days in office, the federal hate crimes bill passed in the House of Representatives by a vote of 249 to 175.

But not everyone believes this piece of legislation is a great idea. They are cautioning many supporters that such a law is a two-edged sword and may have unintended consequences that includes misuse by overzealous and politically motivated prosecutors.

Terrorism Task Force Nabs Jordanian National for Threat against Jewish School in Chicago

Mohammed Alkaramla, age 24, of Chicago was arrested on Friday at his residence, without incident, by members of the Chicago FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) for suspicion of sending a threatening letter to a Jewish school. The suspect, who is a Jordanian national, was charged in a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago with one count of sending an Interstate Threatening Communication, which is a felony offense.


Arms Trafficker Monzer Al Kassar, Associate Imprisoned for Terrorism

Jim Kouri, CPP Monzer Al Kassar, a/k/a "Abu Munawar," a/k/a "El Taous," the leader of an international arms-trafficking ring, was sentenced this week to 30 years in prison for conspiring to sell millions of dollars worth of weapons to be used to kill Americans in Colombia. Wahhabis hold that some Muslim groups such as Shia Islam follow novel or non-Islamic practices.Wahhabi theology advocates puritanical and legalistic stances in matters of faith and religious practice. Wahhabists see their role as a movement to restore Islam from what they perceive to be innovations, superstitions, deviances, heresies and idolatries.
