How the West Is Fanning Islamic Extremism
Hamza Kashgari, a Saudi columnist may face death for sending three tweets. Addressing the Prophet Muhammad he wrote, “I have loved the rebel in you,” but “I do not like the halos of divinity around you. I shall not pray for you.” He also wrote, “I shall shake [your hand] as equals do … I shall speak to you as a friend, no more.”
The Saudi Twitter-sphere exploded with responses to Kashgari, with commentators accusing him of blasphemy. A Facebook account was immediately set up calling for his death and in no time over 13,000 Muslims subscribed to it.
Kashgari escaped to seek asylum in New Zealand, but he was detained in Malaysia. Despite pleas from several human rights organizations and a High Court injunction obtained by his lawyer to not extradite him back, where he would not receive a fair trial, he was quickly deported in a private plane. Malaysia does not have an extradition treaty with Saudi Arabia.
What makes this case even more disturbing is the fact that Saudi Arabia is reported to have used Interpol’s “red notice” system to locate and arrest the 23 year old journalist. Police in Kuala Lumpur said Kashgari was detained at the airport “following a request made to us by Interpol.”
Muslim dissidents face dire consequences in Islamic countries. To a great extent the western media and the western governments are to be blamed. Not only they don’t condemn these human rights violations, they are often reticent to report them. This silence is interpreted as a green light by the governments in Islamic countries and a seal of approval.
Muslim dissidents face constant threats to their lives and in western countries, their voices are systematically gaged. The actions of the Saudi government, the Malaysian government and the thousands of fanatical Muslims who demanded the death of Kashgari are deplorable. But not a single government or news media condemned them. Human rights organizations pleaded for his release, but none reproached the conduct of these two Muslim countries and the reaction of the people calling for this man’s death.
Those who speak out blame the victim instead of the abusers. Jago Russell, the chief executive of the British charity Fair Trials International, which has campaigned against the blanket enforcement of Interpol red notices, said: “Interpol should be playing no part in Saudi Arabia’s pursuit of Hamza Kashgari, however unwise his comments on Twitter.”
Unwise!? There is nothing unwise in criticizing any religion. All religions are regularly criticized. Why Islam should be an exception? Comments like this give Muslims the confirmation that Islam is above criticism.
Why not tell the truth and call the blasphemy law inhumane, evil and barbaric? Killing someone for expressing his views is not civil. Why not call a spade a spade?
Millions of people in Islamic countries live in constant fear. They are the ones who can bring moderation. Instead of protecting them and supporting them, the western media ignores them and in most cased cooperates with Islamic fundamentalists to shut them up. Critics of Islam are called “haters” and “Islamophobes.” Thus name calling is designed to silence the legitimate criticism of Islam and the result is more extremism.
TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) claims to be a nonprofit organization devoted to “Ideas Worth Spreading.” They hold Conferences and video sites and invite prominent speakers. One would expect that such an organizing cares more about truth or at least human rights than ideologies. Not so! TED that sees nothing wrong in inviting speakers to berate Christianity brazenly is at the service of Islamic extremism and acts as its propaganda machine.
They organized a conference for Sheikha Al Mayassa, a fundamentalist Muslim woman to tell the audience that abaya, the all covering Islamic dress she was wearing, is not a religious dress, but a “cultural” habit and that it is “liberating.” Liberating? How can abaya or any veil be liberating? “Because,” Al Mayassa explained, “women can wear their pajama underneath it and no one will notice.” That maybe Al Mayassa’s definition of liberation, but there are millions of Muslim women who find Islamic dress code oppressive and suffocating. They are not free to choose a different clothing and if they do they will be harassed, beaten, jailed and even killed.
I am in touch with thousands of people who live in fear in Islamic countries. I knew Al Mayassa was deceiving her audience. So I commented in the comment section, “Abaya is not cultural; it is an Islamic dress. For every woman who wears it willingly, there are many others who are forced to wear it. What is lacking in Islamic countries is freedom – freedom to dress, freedom to speak and freedom to decide how to live one’s life. This is the problem with Islam, which this speaker is not addressing.”
Islamic Republic of Iran: Imposing Dress Code
Moments later, I received a message from TED Conversations Admin saying, “Your conversation has been removed due to violations of the TED.com Terms of Use.”
I asked for explanation. This person responded, “You’ve been making deliberately inflammatory comments. If you continue we will have to remove your account.”
The truth is that for Muslims, anything that is not complimentary of Islam is inflammatory. Take the example of Kashgari’s tweets. They are not irreverent or inflammatory at all, and yet thousands of Muslims were inflamed by them and want him dead.
In her speech, Sheikha Al Mayassa spoke about the “wisdom” of the Arab rulers. A quick search revealed that she is the 14th daughter of Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the current Emir of Qatar. This explains why TED could not tolerate my comments. They wanted to make their gutst feel at “home”. And at home, critics are swiftly silenced. Any time you see a westerner going out of his/her way to defend Islam, follow the money trail.
Muslims are cocooned in a web of deception. What they perceive as real is unreal. As long as their belief is not challenged they will continue believing in those absurdities and will behave in the way they do. To them, this is how things have been forever. The media, the governments and many people in the west validate their deception and with thier silence unwittingly fan their fanaticism.
Hundreds of news sites reported the detention of Kashgari, but none condemned his arrest. No government of any western country denounced the Saudis and the Malaysians for this crime and violation of human rights.
Kasghari described his intentions in terms of human rights: “I view my actions as part of a process toward freedom. I was demanding my right to practice the most basic human rights—freedom of expression and thought—so nothing was done in vain. I believe I’m just a scapegoat for a larger conflict. There are a lot of people like me in Saudi Arabia who are fighting for their rights.”
There are millions of people like Kashgari in all Islamic countries. All they want is to be free. Isn’t this the basic human right? But they are denied freedom, not just by their oppressive governments, but also by westerners who think respecting a religion, no matter how egregious it may be, is more important than human rights and even human lives.
A religion that demands killing its detractors has no place in the 21st Century. We have to be concerned about people’s lives not their beliefs. Where truth is sacrificed, lives will be sacrificed.
Kashgari is not alone. There are millions of Muslims like him. They don’t dare to speak out. If we want peace, it is this group that we need to support. But instead of supporting them we throw them under the Islamists bus in the hope to appease the extremists.
Only truth will set us free and truth is that killing people for having different views is barbarity. Is it not? Then why not say it? Why not denounce and ban a creed that promotes such barbarity? Why do we bow to lies and shun the truth? Why we value lies more than lives?
Islamic laws, such as punishment for apostasy must be discussed publicly. Their merits and demerits must be evaluated. Discussion about their faith for Muslims is taboo. Even though a great number of them would welcome such a debate, they fear for their lives. Kashgari’s fate is a reminder to all Muslims of what could happen to them if they dare to speak their minds. But those of us who can speak have the obligation to do so. A religion that teaches to kill the unbelievers and rape their women affects everyone, especially the unbelievers. You can’t say it doesn’t concern you. If it doesn’t concern you, it will concern your children.
Discussions about Islam will help Muslims to see the absurdity of many of their tenets such as killing people for leaving their faith. These discussions will save lives, while censorship and silence will cost lives. If we don’t discuss Islam openly, Muslims can’t see there is something wrong with their faith, they become more reclusive, more radicalized and more lives will be lost.
Even if the westerners don’t want to take part in the discussion about Islam, the least they can do is not stand in the way of those who want to bring moderation. Censoring the critics of Islam and berating them as “Islamophobe” and “hater” will only encourage the extremists and fuel their fanaticism. It sends a clear message that might is right – we fear you and we will not do anything to upset you.
Islam is badly in need of criticism. It is time to promote this discussion and provide a venue for a debate. This would abate fanaticism and encourage moderation. Everyone will benefit.
Those who are trapped in darkness can’t be blamed for not seeing. Those who can see and don’t do anything are to be blamed.

The principal rules governing a Muslim’s behavior toward God and other human beings are as follows:
TREATING HUMAN LIFE As SACRED
Killing, except in self-defense or in a righteous war, is one ofthe greatest sins and crimes (in the case of capital
crimes, life may only be taken only by the state, following
a fair trial). Taking one’s own life is also a terrible
sin.
In war, fighting is to be strictly between military forces. Acts ofterrorism or attacks on civilians are strictly

RESPECTING OTHERS’ PROPERTY
Islam insists on strict respect for the possessions of others. Stealing or misappropriating others’ possessions, whether by fraud, bribery or any other means, is prohibited.
EXERCISING SELF-DISCIPLINE
AND SELF-CONTROL
Muslims are expected to take responsibility for controlling
their desires and behavior. Failure to discipline one’s desires and appetites, wastefulness and over-indulgence
in luxuries are considered detestable.
KEEPING TO PuRITY,
MODESTY AND CHASTITY
Women’s dignity and honor is very strongly stressed. Marriage is highly encouraged to provide a permissible, honorable outlet for the sexual needs of men and women, and any form of sexual contact outside marriage is prohibited.
Fornication, adultery and prostitution are considered
grave sins which attack the foundation of a wholesome society. Homosexuality, bisexuality and transvestitism are regarded as major sins and as perversions
of the intrinsic male or female nature decreed and given by God to each individual; as He declares, “He created the two spouses, the male and the female” (53:45;
also 49:13, 75:39; 92:3).
BEING TRUTHFUL, HONEST AND TRUSTWORTHY Islam insists on total uprightness in all a Muslim’s dealings. Truthfulness and keeping promises, commitments
and trusts is required. Lying, cheating, failing to keep promises and trusts, and any type of dishonest dealing are prohibited and detestable.
KEEPING TO FAIRNESS AND JUSTICE
Muslims are ordered to stand strictly for fairness and justice, regardless of whether their own selves, family
members, friends or even enemies are involved.60 The same uniform standard of impartial justice is to be applied to everyone without consideration of race, religion,
gender, rank, wealth or any other criteria. Dealing unjustly with others for the sake of one’s own self-interest,
or because of one’s personal bias or other people’s mediation, is not permissible. Muslims are also supposed
to resist and fight against injustice in all its forms.
FORGIVING PERSONAL INJURIES
God permits Muslims to retaliate for an injuries, but only in a strictly just manner. This means that retaliation
may be carried in the precise amount of the injury inflicted but no more, and only against the doer himself. Blood-feuding and taking revenge on people or groups connected to the doer of an injury are strictly condemned
and prohibited.
However, although retaliation in kind is permissible, forgiveness for injuries is recommended as being the best course, earning the one who forgives God’s pleasure and reward

Anas, a close Companion of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) reported, "A Jewish woman brought a poisoned lamb to the Prophet, and he ate of it. When the woman was brought to him, people suggested, 'Shall we kill her?' The Prophet said, 'No.' I have recognized the effects of that poisoning in the Prophet's throat ever since." (Al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawood, Ahmad, and others).
Following the Prophet's example in any situation is to make sure of choosing the right course of action. Some people may think that this applies to matters of religion only. In Islam there is no differentiation between religious and "worldly" matters. Everything in people's lives is evaluated from the Islamic viewpoint. Hence the Prophet's example provides guidance to us in all spheres of life.
It is needless to say that this applies, in perhaps greater measure, to social behavior and relations with other people. It is important to study how the Prophet treated other people in a comprehensive range of situations in order to understand the Islamic approach to social relations. Here, we are giving a few brief notes on one characteristic that manifested itself in the Prophet's behavior in a variety of situations. That characteristic is forgiveness of one's enemies.
Perhaps the description "a personal enemy" cannot be attached more appropriately than to one who tries to kill someone. When the attempt is the result of careful plotting, then the hostility is deeply rooted. During his life, the Prophet had many enemies who plotted against his life. One such attempt took place soon after the Prophet won the battle of Khaibar that he fought against the Jews of Madinah, resulting in the destruction of the Jewish military power in Arabia. Khaibar fell to the Prophet after a long siege culminating in a fierce fighting to win several of the many forts of which this Jewish stronghold consisted.
The Responsibility of the Society
According to Islam the society itself plays a very important role in the spread of good or evil that spreads in that
society. It (Islam) wants to attain power because it wants, with other things, to form a society in such a way that it may
be helpful in encouraging chastity, righteousness, aversion from wickedness, proliferation or good acts, indifferent to
love for world, steadfastness for the right path and consistency.
The Prophet bas told the story or a murderer who wanted to repent for his crimes. He inquired of the address of the
greatest learned man of the land. His name was given to him, whom he saw and said :
“I have committed hundred murders. Is there any chance of repentance for me ? He was told: “What thing can come
between you and repentance. Go to a particular place where some good slaves of Allah reside and are always found
worshipping Him. You also join them in worshipping. and do not return to your village, because it is a bad place”

In another version it is narrated that he went to a monk and .related his whole story and placed his difficulty before .
him. The monk told him :
“You have committed a big mistake. How am I concerned with this, However, there are two villages One of them is
named ‘Nasrah’ that is supporter , of Allah and the other one is named ‘Kufrah’ that is rejector of God. The people of
Nasrab perform the deeds of the people of the paradise. Any person who follows other method cannot stay there. The
citizens of Kufrab perform the deeds of the people of the hell. There is no room for the people following other policies
to stay there. Therefore, you go to the people of Nasrah. If you stayed there and worked like those people, then there
would be no doubt about the acceptance of your repentance.”

For this reason Islam says that for the safety of the healthy nature and for the training and reform of the rebellious
tendencies the care and vigilance of the environment is necessary, and in the formation of the good moral character it
plays a very important role,
We are sure that if all these aspects are taken care of, then a clean and tidy society can be brought into; existence, in
which pure qualities and chaste character may be nourished.
Every religion has its characteristic symbols, which make it distinct from every other religion, Undoubtedly there are
certain fixed forms of worship in Islam, which have been made compulsory for its followers. Besides there are certain
values prevalent among the followers which have no relation with the Non Muslims.
But the moral teachings do not come under this category or within the sphere of this principle, Every Muslim has been
made responsible to employ good manners in dealing with all the citizens of the land unhesitatingly, For every Muslim
it is necessary that he should be truthful in dealing with the Non-Muslims. Similarly good qualities like charities
keeping one’s promise, tolerance, decency, generosity, co-operation, etc. are to be brought into play while dealing with
Muslims and Non-Muslims alike,
The holy Quran has commanded us not to indulge in such debates with the Jews and the Christians that may encourage
mutual enmity, clashes and quarrels. It says:
“And do not indulge in disputation with the people of the Book except in a refined way, unless it be with those of
them who inflict wrong, and say: “We believe in the Revelation which came down to us and in that which came
down to you Our Allah and your Allah is one ,. and it is to Him we bow’.”

And the followers of Moosa and Issa (Moses and Jesus) were asked, expressing wonder, whether they are indulging in
this kind of argumentation and polemics?
“Say: ‘Do you argue with us about Allah when He is our Lord as well as your Lord? We are accountable for our
deeds and you for yours so we are sincerely ( dedicated) to Him’.”

There are millions of Muslims who do not know these sacred truths shablear.
They desperately need the light of true Islam. They are wandering from the true path.

Bring your message of peace and right conduct to Muslims everywhere. They need you shablear. They don't understand Islam. They need a Rightly Guided Imam shablear and I think it falls upon your shoulders to be that imam to the Muslims.

It is a famous incident of the biography of the Prophet that he owed something to a Jew, The Jew demanded repayment
and in a very harsh tone said: “O Sons of Abdul Muttalib! You people unnecessarily delay the repayment of your
loans.” At that place Hazrat Umar bin AI-Khattab was also present. He decided to teach the Jew, who insulted the
Prophet, good manners, and drew his sword from the scabbard. But the Messenger of Allah silenced Umar saying: “I
and he deserve better treatment, Teach him to demand his money in a better way and advise me to repay it in a refined
manner.”
Islam has commanded to deal justly and fairly even if the opponent may be a wrongdoer or an infidel. Allah’s
Messenger has said:
“The prayer of the oppressed is answered, If he is wicked and wrongdoer, its ill effects will go against him.”

In another Hadith it is stated: “Even if the oppressed person is an infidel, there is no obstruction between his prayer and
its answer. Give up doubtful things and adopt those matters in which there may be no doubt.”
In the light of these authorities and the commands, Islam has advised its followers not to mal-treat their ideological and

In connection with the insistence on treating the followers of the other religion kindly, there is one more hadith:
Hazrat Ibn. Umar says that a goat was slaughtered in his house. When he came home he inquired whether the gift was
sent to the neighbouring Jew or not? He further says: “I have heard the Messenger of Allah as saying’ Jibril’ had
been regularly insisting on me to treat kindly my neighbours, so much so that I surmised that the neighbour
would be made a recipient of the inheritance.”

Similarly Islam has ordered that its followers should be kind to their relatives, even though they may have rejected this
religion, which they have made their own. Therefore, following the Truth does not mean that the rights of the relatives
may be usurped:
“And bear them company in this life with justice (and consideration), and follow the way of those who turn to Me
(in love); in the end the return of you all is to Me and I will tell you the truth (and meaning) of all that you did”

The Need of Morality for the Nation and the Country
This discussion was on the importance of morality at the level of individuals. As regards the importance and need of
morality at the public and collective level, Islam says that the progress and the survival of the nations, the nourishment
and the development of their civilization and culture, and the consolidation of their power and strength depend on
morality. If the people have good and excellent moral character, then all these good qualities will be found in them, but
if their moral character is a lower levels then kingdom and rule will soon end,
“Nations live till their morality lives.
When their moral character declines, they also decline,”
This reality is fully explained in a hadith in which the Prophet says to the people of his nation that although they have
control over the whole of Arabia, and are in a position to decide the fate of the people of the country, as they hold an
important position, their power can be maintained on the pillar of morality only.
Anas bin Malik says: “We were sitting in a house where some members of the Ansar and Muhajir were present, The
Messenger of Allah came into the room and everybody tried to make room for him near his own seat. Then he
proceeded towards the door and stood taking support of the door and said:
“The leaders will be from the Quraish, and I have great right on you and they have also a right on you as they
would do. When they would be requested to show mercy, they would show mercy. When they would give a
judgment, it would be based on justice. And when they would make a covenant, they would honour it. He who
does not do like this, there would be on him the curse of Allah, of the angels and of all the people”
(Tibrani)
This hadith unambiguously shows that any person, community, nation or government would be deserving of as much
honour and respect as they would be the representatives of the best qualities in this world and would be striving to
achieve high objectives.
If a government flaunts the label of Islam and Quran but the people are not satisfied with it, if it does not decide their
matters justly, if it is not kind to the needy and does not honour its covenant, then it should be understood that in this
government Islam and Quran are merely names, and this government is bereft of Islam’s basic values and it deserves to
be cursed from every corner of the earth and the skies.
Hazrat Husain narrates that the Messenger of Allah has said:
“When Allah wants to deal kindly with a nation, He entrusts its reins in the hands of the wise men, gives wealth
to its generous people; and when He wants to deal with a nation harshly, he entrust its control in the hands of
foolish people, and gives wealth to its miserly men.”
(Abu Daud)
It is a famous saying of Imam Ibn Taimiyah: “Allah guards the justice-loving government, even if it is the government
of the infidels, and destroys the tyrant government, even if it is the government of Muslims.”
In the light of the holy Book and the Sunnah, morality is the perfect religion and also the perfect world. If any nation
loses its honour in the eyes of Allah or commands no respect among the people, it so happens because of its losing
good moral character and becoming deprived of decent and honourable traits.

When there is no discussion or debate humanity cannot move forward. Islam will not allow debate because it is a set of rules which no one must question. Therefore It can never reform.
Many other religions are based not so much on rules but on principles. e.g. acting in the most kind and compassionate way in each individual situation.
This can, in exceptional circumstances, lead to something which is not an absolute or fixed morality (rule).
For example I do not believe, in most circumstances, it is acting compassionately to kill/injure someone but had I been on the island when Brevik was killing all those young people and I had rifle and knew how to use it. What would have been the most compassionate thing to do?. To stick to my rule of not killing/injuring or to have used my rifle appropriately?

I think I get your point to an extent, the term ‘religion’ absorbs much of the shockwaves that would have otherwise topple the glaringly evil Islam, the Nazi ideology didn’t last due to the absence of this shock resistant term….however, we are a bit too late alter the meaning of this term, what we can do, is to pressure the western powers to at least confine Muslims to their lands and incapacitate Islamic regimes that are a serious threat.
A facebook group is set up to debunk Ali Sina, funny enough, a fake Ali Sina registered with them and is really standing up to them strongly, I’ve joined that group with an alternate facebook account, have tried posting a link but my device is acting up, a google or facebook search of ‘Debunking Ali Sina and FFI’ might take you there.
