Sahih Imam Bukhari Volume 7, Book 62, Number 144: Narrated Aisha: that during his fatal ailment, Muhammad, used to ask his wives, “Where shall I stay tomorrow? Where shall I stay tomorrow?” He was looking forward to Aisha’s turn. So all his wives allowed him to stay where he wished, and he stayed at Aisha’s house till he died there. ‘Aisha added: He died on the day of my usual turn at my house. Allah took him unto him while his head was between my chest and my neck and his saliva was mixed with my saliva.
The Life of Muhammad – Ibn Ishaq – page 682 – Yahya b. Abbad b. Abdullah b. al-Zubayr from his father told me that he heard Aisha say: “Muhammad died in my bosom during my turn: I had wronged none in regard to him. It was due to my ignorance and extreme youth that Muhammad died in my arms. Then I laid his head on a pillow and got up beating my breast and slapping my face along with the other women.
Sahih Imam Bukhari Volume 5, Book 59, Number 736: Narrated Al-Aswad: It was mentioned in the presence of Aisha that Muhammad had appointed Ali ibn Taliban successor by will. Thereupon Aisha said, “Who said so? I saw Muhammad, while I was supporting him against my chest. He asked for a tray, and then fell on one side and died, and I did not feel it. So how Muhammad did appointed ‘Ali as his successor?”
