The results of the recently-held municipal elections in France shocked many observers. The Socialist Party of President Hollande didn’t fare well, while the “Front National” did very well. According to the BBC, “Marine Le Pen’s National Front won control of 11 towns of more than 9,000 inhabitants. The party has also captured the 7th district of Marseille, France’s second largest city. The district has a population of about 150,000, which makes it the party’s biggest win.”
The importance of the FN victory has several implications. Not only it manifests that an important shift toward the Right in political and economic matters has taken place, but a significant part of the electorate is becoming extremely concerned about the impact of the large Muslim community on life in France.
It is well known, for example, that several ethnic and religious groups that have settled in France over the years eventually assimilated, and became part and parcel of the French nation. For example, a large number of Armenians, survivors of the Genocide of WWI, now live in France, and are active and successful citizens of the country. Another example in the political realm, is Nicholas Sarkozy, the son of a Hungarian refugee, who became the 23rd President of France, and served from16 May 2007 until 15 May 2012.
The only exception to the assimilation of immigrants is the Muslims immigrant, who after two and sometimes three generations, clings to his or her religious and cultural baggage. He expects the host country to grant him the right to live apart, in order to duplicate his former lifestyle. Several European groups and political parties in Europe are responding to the threat of the Islamization of their homelands, notably the “Front National” in France.
The following is a translation of excerpts from a report on the French municipal elections that was posted on Riposte Laïque, by the Tunisian Intellectual/scholar, Salem Benammar, on the 3rd of April, 2014.
“The National Front knew how to play its cards as the party of resistance to the Islamic invasion, and succeeded in capturing the voice of the French people who fear Islam, and are sick and tired of seeing their country being transformed into a mega Kasbah[i] in Algiers.
“I cannot help but rejoice greatly as I witness the rise of the national pride and the stifling coup aimed at the coalition of the UMP-PS[ii], with respect to their irresponsible politics favoring both Muslims and the anti-nationalists. It’s high time to stop the process of the galloping Islamization of France. The results of these elections don’t point to a rise of racism in France; on the contrary, they manifest a much-needed effort to save France, its history, its republican and Laïque[iii] identity, from the hegemonic Islamic community. What are the republicans[iv] doing, while an Islamic fire is in the process of engulfing France?
“This pro-FN vote was not a vote against France, it was a vote for France which is about to disappear due to the spirit of surrender and collaboration of the Parliamentarians of the Right and the Left. That vote expressed the fact that the French people are fed up with the concessions granted to an enemy whose sole purpose is the destruction of the Republic, substituting it with an Islamic regime.
“No one has the right to stigmatize these voters; on the contrary, they should be praised for their heroic geste, and their unwavering attachment to France. It was very urgent to check the fatal process of the Islamization of France, and hold the red stop-sign to those pseudo-republican parties who are actually unpatriotic, rather than republican.
“The message sent by the pro-FN voters was clear: nowadays the electoral challenge is Islam. This subject must be clearly integrated into the electoral strategy of all the political parties in France. From now on, no future election would be won without a patriotic positioning vis-à-vis Islam.
“The National Front breakthrough must be analyzed as a sign of the growing French concerns about the mortal menaces represented by Islam and the anti-republican and the aggressiveness of the Muslim minority.
“In fact, large parts of the French territory resemble, more and more, micro Emirates governed by their caïds (Arabic for leaders) all dressed-up in their new religious garbs that serve as screens to cover up their criminal practices. It is for such reasons that the French people refuse to accept that new state of affairs. They are extremely concerned as they witness some of their streets have become venues for Islamic prayers, the demands of Muslim parents that lunches at public schools provide halal food! The French people can longer stand idly by, watching their urban centers losing their true and genuine soul.”

Analysis
The Tunisian author explains the significance of the success of the National Front in the recently-held French Municipal elections: a good number of the French electorate appreciated the clarion call of the party regarding the mounting threat to the very essence of the national French identity and culture, posed by the growing impact of the Islamic minority.

It is noteworthy that North African intellectuals like Salem Benammar possess a unique insight into the problem of large number of immigrants who refuse to assimilate in the host country. He is in full agreement with the National Front position on this issue. The very fact that he can both see the danger and warn about it indicates that Benammar’s worldview is no longer Islamic. He regards the Islamic religion as a reactionary force that attempts to take its members back to a Utopian past. He has the advantage of being bilingual and bicultural, at home in Arabic and in French.
As long as Western politicians and intellectuals ignore the imperialistic impulse in Islam as seen in its 1400 year history, they will remain silent and bury their heads in the sand. Should they take the time to acquaint themselves with the history of Islam, they would see that in the first one thousand years, Islam spread through conquests. Since the end of the Second World War, Islam is spreading by migration due to the fact that most of them live in countries that have not learned how to cope with modernity. So they move to the West seeking a better life; unfortunately they continue to cling to their old religious and cultural habits!
We should be thankful for the witness of liberated Muslims like Benammar who warn us about the consequences of this new phenomenon. They have known and experienced what Islam does to human nature, and they warn the citizens of the countries that welcomed them and gave them freedom of expression. They show their gratitude to the West by telling the unvarnished truth about Islam.
[i]Kasbah is a North African term for the old part of the city, with narrow lanes, and houses built very close to their neighbors.
[ii] UMP-PS is an acronym for the Center-Right Party in coalition with the Socialist Party in France.
[iii] Laïque is a French concept that the State must remain neutral vis-à-vis religious institutions, and that the public square be free of religious acts of worship; however, the State does not restrict the free exercise of religion. But since Islam is much more than a religion, and as its members don’t assimilate but demand special rights to live as if they are in Daru’l Islam, this has become a cause of friction between Muslim immigrants and the citizens of the host countries in Western Europe.
[iv] In his report, Benammar uses the term “republicans” to refer to those French political parties who are expected to live up to the ideals of the Fifth Republic, which like the previous Republican regimes, namely to retain the Laique tradition.
