Tolerance of Intolerance
Let me clarify this with an example. We believe in freedom. All humans are born free and must live freely. Despite that we build prisons and deny that freedom to some individuals. This is not a contradiction. Those who violate the freedom of others should not be left free. Tolerance of intolerance breeds intolerance.
If this applies to individuals, why it should not apply to ideologies? People must be free to believe in what they want, but they are not free to take someone else’s freedom. If a religion is intolerant of other faiths that religion should not be tolerated.

It’s just sad that people in the 21st century still teach such nonsense. They make up crazy interpretations that would make the Quran seem like it works with modern day science. They would also never admit it when they are wrong. They would rather teach their kids how to be ignorant and follow religious ideas based on blind faith. I refused to do that. I studied the Quran, asked questions, and thought about the answers I was given. It turns out that the best way to lose your faith, is to actually read your “holy book”. Reading the Quran is the main reason why I am an atheist today.

Asma was a poetess of Medina. She wrote a poem where she warned the tribes of Medina against the Prophet. She wrote, “Do you expect good from him after the killing of your chiefs…” When the Prophet heard this, he said to his followers: “Who will rid me of Marwan’s daughter [Asma]?” A follower named Umayr, eager to prove his loyalty to Islam, offered to murder her. Mohammad, of course, is the main reason why polygamy is accepted throughout Islamic countries. He even had his own set of rules that applied only to him. Since he was “special”, he was actually allowed to have 9 wives at once (there were others at different times). This also doesn’t include any of the slaves that he took as wives (a common practice during his time).

Mohammad received the message of the Quran over a period of 23 years through some type of “verbal revelation” where Gabriel (the archangel) told him the verses. God could not speak to him directly because his presence and voice was too much for humans to handle….and apparently this “all-powerful god” could not do anything to make it easier (or at least he chose not to). First, this Qur’an was not treated as an official codex, but as a private property of Hafsa, thus no authority is given to Abu Bakr’s Qur’an. Unfortunately many people always associate charity with religion and assume that the non-religious are not as giving. That is not true. They are not able to make the judgment call, nor do they have the ability to think. Think about all those protests in Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Middle East countries. A very few have access to the Internet and Danish newspapers, along with a bottle of a milk delivered in the morning. So, it’s highly unlikely that any of them have seen those cartoons, yet they have declared Jihad against Denmark.
